대개 유명한 인물들만 '업적'을 남긴다고 생각하는 사람들이 많다.
물론 틀린 말은 아니다.
그러나 유명하지도 않고 영향력도 없는 무명의 인물도
업적을 남길 수 있다.
어느 유명한 피아노 연주자는 이런 고백을 했다.
"내가 이렇게 피아노를 잘 연주하게 된 것은
우리 동네 아저씨 덕분이랍니다."

내 이웃이 나에게 기타 코드 이해하는 법을 가르치는 업적을 남겼다.
그렇게 음악에 취미를 갖게 되면서
피아노를 배우고 그 후에 위대한 연주자가 되었다고 한다.
업적을 남기거나 솜씨를 내는 것 모두 이런 과정을 겪어야 한다.
FEAT is a deed of courage, endurance, skill, or cleverness.
위업 (또는 솜씨)은 용기와 끈질김, 기술 또는 명석함의 행동이다.
재주도 있어야 하지만 피나는 노력 또한 필수적이다.

feat 은 14 세기 중반의 프랑스어 fait (action) 이 그 뿌리인데
그 낱말은 Latin 어 factume (이뤄진 일)에서 왔다.
우리의 생각이나 계획이 행동으로 나타난다는 뜻이다.
그렇게 생각하는 것이
행동으로 나타나게 하는 역할을 하는 기관은 '뇌'이다.
며칠 전에 읽은 글의 제목은

계속해서 내리막길을 걷고 있다.
좀 자랑 같지만 나는 20대 중반에서 30대까지
