A statue depicting a homeless Jesus
sleeping on a park bench in downtown Buffalo,
has prompted people to leave
money, food and other items at the bronze sculpture.
"Yesterday, I came
and there was some money on the statue,
but today I came
and there was a hat,
and there was a scarf."
The statue was unveiled last Tuesday
outside St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral
which race raised money for the public art project
to through private donations.
The statue shows blanket-shrouded Jesus,
identifiable only by the
crucifixion wounds on his feet.
"it's just, it's just amazing
with what's all been collected."
The church collects the items each day
and donates them to a
local organization that helps the homeless.
