BOISE, Idaho (Ticker) - Fallen NBA star Jayson Williams, still facing an uncertain future, began a comeback Wednesday with the CBA's Idaho Stampede.

Williams, who last April was found not guilty of aggravated manslaughter in the shooting death of his limousine driver in his New Jersey estate three years ago, signed with the Stampede in the afternoon and was in uniform when the club hosted the Yakima SunKings on Wednesday night. His intent is to return to the NBA.

Coming off the bench, Williams scored two points on 1-of-2 shooting and collected four rebounds and four personal fouls in nine minutes of a 117-109 win.

The 36-year-old Williams had not played since suffering a serious knee injury while with the New Jersey Nets during the lockout-shortened 1998-99 season. He averaged 7.3 points and 7.5 rebounds in nine seasons with the Nets and Philadelphia 76ers, making the All-Star team in 1998.

"I love basketball and look forward to competing again at the sport that I hold so dear," he said in a statement before the game. "The Idaho Stampede is a very professional organization for which I look forward to playing.

"Interested NBA teams want assurances that I am completely recovered and that I am able to deal with rigors of daily competition. The very competitive CBA will provide me this opportunity."

On April 30, Williams was found not guilty on charges of aggravated manslaughter, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon with unlawful purpose in the shooting of Costas "Gus" Christofi in his Hunterdon County mansion on February 14, 2002.

Williams was found guilty on four lesser charges - hindering apprehension, tampering with a witness, tampering with evidence and fabricating physical evidence. He received no jail time.

The jury was unable to reach a verdict on the charge of reckless manslaughter, and Williams is scheduled to be retried on that charge in March. He was accused of trying to cover up the shooting by making it look like a suicide.

There are also financial questions regarding Williams' possible return to the NBA. Prior to the 1998-99 season, he signed a six-year contract worth roughly $100 million with the Nets. After his injury, insurance paid the majority of that money, under the assumption that Williams' playing career was over.

Prior to this season, there were rumblings that the 6-10 Williams was seeking to return to the NBA, possibly with the Nets. It is unclear whether Williams would have to forfeit or return any of the money should he play again in the NBA.

"I respect the legal process and understand the road before me, yet I desire to use the gifts and skills God has given me as a basketball player," Williams said.
<br>
<br>
During his career, Williams was among the NBA's most determined and quotable players. His best season was 1997-98, when he averaged 12.9 points, 13.6 rebounds, made the All-Star team and helped the Nets make the playoffs for the first time in four years.

제이 윌리암스는 시카고 선수인데 오토바이 사고 난 선수인걸로 알고있습니다.
극강의 공격리바운드능력의 소유자.. 항상 로드맨땜에 리바운드수치는 2등이었다는...대단한 선수였습니다.. 개인적으로 제이슨캐피와 비슷하게 생겼다고생각됨

기억 납니다.. 로드맨이 리바운드 1위를 당연히 했을때...ㅡㅡ 이놈 공격리바운드는 로드맨을 앞질렀죠. 거기다 경기수도 로드맨보다 제법 많이 작았는데요..
이렇게 구분합시다.. 제이슨도 여러가지 있는데 ㅋㅋ 저 위에 제이슨은 Jayson이니까 제위슨 ㅋㅋ그리고 키드와 화이트쪼꼬레또는 Jason이니까 제이슨..ㅋㅌㅋㅌ
제이 윌리엄스가 이름을 바꾼것도 (제이슨)들이 사고를 많이 치는거 같아서.........라고....
제이슨 윌리포드랑도 닮았죠.
