Korea is expected to face more uncertainties in trade amid the planned imposition of "reciprocal" tariffs by the U.S. Donald Trump administration, the country's vice industry minister said Friday.
도널드 트럼프 미국 행정부의 '상호' 관세 부과 계획으로 인해 한국은 무역에서 더 많은 불확실성에 직면할 것으로 예상된다고 한국 산업부 차관이 금요일 밝혔다.
 
"Exports slightly increased in February, but environments surrounding exports are still unfavorable," First Vice Industry Minister Park Sung-taek said in a meeting held to check on export trends and related risks.
박성택 산업부 제1차관은 수출 동향과 관련 리스크를 점검하기 위해 열린 회의에서 "2월 수출은 소폭 증가했지만, 수출을 둘러싼 환경은 여전히 불리하다"고 말했다.
 
"The U.S. administration imposed duties on all steel and aluminum imports and related derivative products, and if it imposes reciprocal tariffs as planned on April 2, uncertainties surrounding our exports will further escalate," he added.
"미국 행정부는 모든 철강 및 알루미늄 수입품과 관련 파생상품에 관세를 부과했으며, 4월 2일 계획대로 상호관세를 부과하면 우리 수출을 둘러싼 불확실성이 더욱 커질 것이다."라고 그는 덧붙였다.
 
Korea exported a combined $101.6 billion in the first two months of this year, down 4.8 percent from the same period last year.
올해 첫 두 달 동안 한국은 총 1,016억 달러를 수출했으며, 이는 작년 같은 기간보다 4.8% 감소한 수치이다.
 
Outbound shipments of semiconductors, wireless communication devices, computers and bio-health products increased, while exports of petroleum products sharply decreased by 20.5 percent.
반도체, 무선통신 장치, 컴퓨터 및 바이오헬스 제품의 해외 수출은 증가한 반면, 석유제품의 수출은 20.5% 급격히 감소했다.
 
Park said the ministry is working to address Korea's concerns over tariffs in talks with the U.S. government, noting that Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun is currently on a visit to Washington to meet with U.S. officials, including Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.
박 차관은 안덕근 산업부장관이 현재 크리스 라이트 에너지부장관, 하워드 루트닉 상무부장관 등 미국 관계자들을 만나기 위해 워싱턴을 방문 중이라며 미국 정부와의 협의에서 관세에 대한 한국의 우려를 해소하기 위해 노력하고 있다고 말했다.
