1. 냉전종식 - 1 

1970년대 중반은 소련이 한창 강할 때였습니다. 그때 아버님이 세계에 선교사들을 파견하셨습니다. 동구권이 굉장히 힘들 때였는데, 서구권 출신의 한 선교사가 동구권으로 가겠다고 자원했습니다. 서구권 사람이 동구권으로 가기는 하늘의 별 따기였습니다. 그때는 초창기의 기독교처럼 지하선교를 할 때였습니다.​

그 청년이 하나님 앞에 맹세하고 동구권에 도착해서 어느 학교의 도서관에 들렀는데, 거기에서 한 여학생을 만났습니다. 그 여학생이 꿈에 이 청년을 본 것입니다. 그것도 한 번이 아니라 여러 차례 꿈속에서 만났다는 것입니다.

그런 몽시를 봤으니 서로 믿고 두 사람은 쉽게 가까워졌답니다. 여자의 아버지는 그 나라의 지도자 중 한 사람이었는데, 나중에는 그 두 사람이 축복까지 받게 됐습니다. 이것을 어떻게 우연이라고 말할 수 있겠어요? 이것이 통일운동의 역사에 있었던 현실입니다.

아버님의 말씀을 보면, 여러 가지 선교의 역사에 대한 말씀이 나옵니다. 과거에는 부모님의 얼굴을 보지도 못하고 감옥에서 죽은 사람도 있습니다. 이번에 어느 나라에 들렀더니, 지가가 과거에 선교하면서 감옥에서 3~ 4년 살았다는 사람도 있었습니다. (2006.7.7, 보스니아, 사라예보)​

유럽 선교 50주년을 기념하면서 그곳의 식구들을 만나봤습니다. 특히 냉전 시대에 동구권, 소련의 지배하에 있던 공산권에 선교를 나간다는 것은 쉬운 일이 아니었습니다.

그런데 다행스럽게도 오스트리아를 통해서는 가능했습니다. 특히 유럽의 식구 중에 독일과 오스트리아의 많은 식구들이 선교의 일선에 나섰습니다. 그 선교사들만이 알고 있는 나비 작전에서 살아남은 식구들을 만나고 왔습니다. (2015.5.24 뉴욕, 맨해튼 센터)​

1. 冷戦の終息 - 1 

1970年代中盤は、ソ連の勢力が絶頂期にあった時でした。その頃、お父様は世界に宣教師を派遣されました。東欧圏がとても大変な時でしたが、西欧圏出身の一人の宣教師が東欧圏に行くことを志願しました。

（当時は）西欧圏の人が東欧圏に行くことは空の星を取るように不可能に近いことでした。その頃は草創期のキリスト教のように地下宣教をしてしいた時期です。その青年は神様に誓って東欧圏に着き、ある学校の図書館に立ち寄ったのですが、そこで一人の女子学生に出会います。その女子学生は夢でその青年を見ていました。それも一度ではなく、何度も夢の中で会ったというのです。

そのような夢を見ていたので、二人は互いに信じ合い、二人は容易に近しくなりました。女子学生の父親はその国の指導者の一人だったのですが、後にその二人は祝福まで受けることになりました。これがどうして偶然と言えるでしょうか。これが統一運動の歴史にあった現実です。

お父様のみ言を見ると、宣教の歴史に関する様々なみ言があります。過去には父母様の顔を見ることもできずに監獄で死を迎えた人もいます。今回、ある国に寄ったのですが、自分は昔、宣教する中で監獄で3、4年過ごしたという人もいました。（2006.7.7、ボスニア、サラエボ）

ヨーロッパ宣教50周年を記念する中で、そこの食口に会いました。特に冷戦時代に東欧圏、ソ連の支配下にあった共産圏に宣教に行くということは容易なことではありませんでした。ところが幸いなことに、オーストリアを通じれば可能でした。

特にヨーロッパの食口の中でドイツとオーストリアの多くの食口が宣教の一線に出ました。その宣教師たちだけが知っているバタフライ作戦で生き残った食口に会ってきました。（2015.5.24、ニューヨーク、マンハッタンセンター）

1. Ending the Cold War - 1 

In the mid-1970s, the Soviet Union was very powerful. During that time, True Father sent missionaries around the world. Eastern Europe was going through an extremely difficult time ; one missionary from Western Europe volunteered to go to Eastern Europe. It was nearly impossible at the time for a person from Western Europe go to Eastern Europe. We were also doing underground missionary work like early-day Christians.
 
That young man made a pledge in front of God. After arriving in Eastern Europe, he visited a school library where he met a female student. That student had seen this man in her dream. She met him in her dreams not just once, but several times.

They trusted each other because of those revelations. The two became close and eventually received the marriage Blessing. The woman's father was a leader in that country. How could this be a coincidence? This is a real event in the history of the Unification movement. 
 
In True Father's speeches, he often speaks of the work of our missionaries in the field. In the past, there have been people who joined the church through the work of our missionaries, but died in prison without ever laying eyes on True Parents. I recently visited another country and one person said that they had spent three to four years in prison while they were missionaries. (2006.07.07, Sarajevo, Bosnia)
 
While commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Unification movement in Europe, I was able to meet members of the European family. It was not easy to go out as missionaries to the countries in the communist Eastern bloc that was controlled by the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

Fortunately, this was possible through Austria. Many European members from Germany and Austria, in particular, stood at the forefront doing missionary work. I met the members who survived the "Butterfly Mission,” which was known only among those missionaries. (2014.05.24, Manhattan Center, New York)
