Nothing is wasted but spared either in this recording: tempos are just
right, balance & dynamics couldn't be better. It's on a fast side
but all the polyphonic lines are clearly delineated in the warm, vibrant
sonics.</span><br><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 14pt;"> </span><br><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 14pt;"> Lyrical, poetic, fluent, yet powerful.</span><br><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 14pt;"> </span><br><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 14pt;"> Leinsdorf, Kubelik, Steinberg, Abbado, even Chung come to mind while listening to the CD. 첫댓글This is the first time I realize that Mahler First is as polyphonic as any other piece he composed. Multiple counter melodies are interwoven each other so delicately....and Wakasugi captures them so effortlessly that they'll never get in the way of your listening. Of course, this wouldn't have been possible without the fabulous Staatskapelle Dresden.
I once heard Daniel Harding conducting Staatskapelle Dresden in a live concert of Mahler Ninth. It was resplendent from start to finish. I can't figure why they don't record more Mahler.
