The Meaning of the Wedding Banquet of Spirit and Flesh and the Two Types of Marriage
In Jer 31, God explained the reason why He had to make a new covenant. God became the husband for the people of Israel; He led them out of Egypt and gave them the Law to keep, but like Adam, they did not keep the covenant (Hos 6:7). Also, in Hos 2:18-23, God said, “In that day, I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land.” And He said, “I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord.” When is ‘that day’ and who are the ‘you’ that is spoken of in these verses?
As seen in Mt 22 and 25 within the Four Gospels, it is said that, ‘the kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son.’ This wedding banquet is the wedding banquet of Rv 19. In weddings (marriage), there is marriage between flesh and flesh, and there is marriage between spirit and flesh. The words of Hos 2:18-23 is talking about the marriage between spirit and flesh at the time the First Coming, when God’s spirit (bridegroom) came to Jesus (bride) and they became one. The marriage spoken of in Mt 22 and 25 is also a marriage between the spirit and flesh that belong to God. On the other hand, there is also a marriage between the spirit and flesh that belong to the devil (Rv 18:23).
The wedding of the Son of God happens after the devil’s wedding and after Babylon, the kingdom of the devil, is judged (Ref. Rv 19:1). As seen in Rv 17:1-11, the prostitute that married the devil was the representative pastor (mountain) of the churches, who received the devil’s seed (Mt 13:38-39) and gave birth to the devil’s children. Their identities are revealed by the holy spirit in Rv 17. Although they disguise themselves with the traditional churches’ signboards and actions, just like the pastors of Jerusalem, Babylon’s spirit of the devil is living within them. So, although you cannot tell by their appearance, the Spirit that sees through the heart knows. It was a secret that they were those in sheep’s clothing, pretending to be Christians. However, the Spirit revealed their identities as Babylon, the kingdom of demons (Rv 17:5).
In Gal 4:19, Apostle Paul said, “My dear children, (for whom) I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you.” Paul speaks figuratively because Paul receiving God’s seed (Lk 8:11) to give birth to children (saints) is the same as Paul being in the position of a woman and a mother who gives birth to God’s sons. The prostitute who belongs to the devil is also called a mother under the same logic.
The time before the wedding of God’s Son is a time to prepare the lamp and oil for the wedding. Also, the act of announcing the wedding of the Lamb is the act of inviting people to come to the wedding. There are two types of marriage between spirit and flesh; one is the marriage with the devil and the other is the marriage with the Lamb, Jesus. The marriage in Rv 18 is with the devil, and the marriage in Rv 19 is with Jesus.
What is the state of someone who is married? Now that god and man have become one, man is a god-like man and a man-like god. Jesus is in God and men are in Jesus, and thus becomes one. This is the word of Jn 17:21-23 fulfilled. Just as God is in Jesus and Jesus is in God, for those who are married, Jesus will be in us and we will be in Jesus. This is the marriage of spirit and flesh.
In Revelation, the one who married the devil is judged along with the devil and come to an end, and the one who married Jesus lives together with him forever.
The heaven in the sky and the heaven on the earth become one. At this time, there are no things of the old and only new things exist. Those who married Jesus are able to live with God in His kingdom because they were born of God’s seed and freed from sin by Jesus’ blood. Just as God is with Jesus, after the marriage, Jesus will live together with us.
Just as Jesus came as the light, I was also born of the light and guided by the light. When I went around the world 31 times, people saw a great light above my head and wherever I went, there were many times when people would take pictures to remember it. I also received the Word of life, which is light, and even my name is Light. Because of these things, I realized that Jesus, who is light, is with me. The marriage that the Bible talks about is a marriage between spirit and flesh. Amen.
