1. A massive trailer has been sent to parts of the rural South where medical researchers are testing the heart and lung function of some 5,000 residents.
2. Studies have shown rural populations in the U.S. are unhealthier and have lower life expectancy than Americans in urban areas.
3. And researchers are trying to figure out exactly why and how to change that.
4. So public health officials are using 50-foot-long trailer filled with instruments to examine calcium in the arteries, the structure of the heart, and lung capacity, to analyze what’s going on. I’m Jackie Quinn.
