While some argue that the 2004 Summer Olympics have proved how bad NBA basketball has gotten, we believe the games have opened our eyes as to how good International Basketball has gotten. As the NBA continues to be globalized, it's important to take stock of the International Basketball landscape and just who's leading the charge. Here are the Top 25 International Basketball Players:
1. Dirk Nowitzki, PF, Germany
2. Peja Stojakovic, SF, Serbia & Montenegro
3. Yao Ming, C, China
4. Pau Gasol, PF, Spain
5. Andrei Kirlenko, PF, Russia
6. Manu Ginobili, SG, Argentina
7. Steve Nash, PG, Canada
8. Tony Parker, PG, France
9. Zydrunas Ilgauskas, C, Lithuania
10. Dejan Bodiroga, SF, Serbia & Montenegro
11. Jamaal Magloire, C, Canada
12. Nene, PF, Brazil
13. Sarunas Jasikevicius, PG, Lithuania
14. Vlade Divac, C, Serbia & Montenegro
15. Toni Kukoc, SF, Croatia
16. Mehmet Okur, PF, Turkey
17. Andres Nocioni, SF, Argentina
18. Leandro Barbosa, PG, Brazil
19. Jiri Welsch, SF, Czech Republic
20. Marko Jaric, PG, Serbia & Montenegro
21. Arvydas Sabonis, C, Lithuania
22. Vladimir Radmanovic, SF, Serbia & Montenegro
23. Sam Dalembert, C, Haiti
24. Andris Biedrins, PF, Latvia
25. Rasho Nesterovic, C, Slovenia
Rising: He's already an unquestioned Top 5 International player, and at just 24 years old, Pau Gasol has an incredible future ahead of him. He's the horse for an emerging Spanish National Team and is gradually developing as an unstoppable go-to scorer inside for the Grizzlies.
Falling: It's always an added challenge to shine on a bad team, but Marko Jaric has fallen far short of expectations with the Clippers. Serbia & Montenegro's floor general has failed to take the reins of the team, preferring to hang around the perimeter and hoist jumpers rather than engineer the team's offense. He'll be a free agent at the end of the 2005 season and it wouldn't surprise us to see him return to Europe.
Last Five Cut:
Eduardo Najera, PF, Mexico
Raul Lopez, PG, Spain
Luis Scola, PF, Argentina
Darius Songalia, PF, Lithuania
Mickael Pietrus, SG, France
Underrated: He didn't play a minute last season with the Spurs and didn't even crack our list, but New Zealand's Sean Marks will emerge as a valuable commodity for San Antonio this season. With Kevin Willis unsigned and Malik Rose in the doghouse, Marks will likely be the first man off the bench to spell Tim Duncan and Rasho Nesterovic. He's a capable rebounder and scorer who should open some eyes in the season to come.
Overrated: We understand the fascination with Vladimir Radmanovic -- a 6'10" forward capable of scoring anywhere on the court -- but hard facts are what we deal in, and Radmanovic's maddening inconsistency has made him a detriment to the Sonics and Serbia & Montenegro's National Team. Radmanovic has been handed too much in his young career, he needs to start earning his minutes.
Five for the Future:
Andrew Bogut, C, Australia
Roko Ukic, PG, Croatia
Johan Petro, PF, France
Rudy Fernandez, SG, Spain
Martynas Andriuskevicius, C, Lithuania
Future Star: Aggressiveness. It's what holds back many International players. The NBA game is about individuality and fighting for what's yours. Two young players: Leandro Barbosa and Andris Biedrins strike us as two talents not content with playing a complementary role throughout their NBA careers. Barbosa is one of the most unique guards in the League. Already one of the elite penetrators in the game, Barbosa is starting to develop consistency in his awkward jumper. His skills may go untapped in a crowded Suns system, but success won't elude him wherever he finally ends up. Biedrins, similar to Andrei Kirilenko, has a knack for being a nuisance offensively and defensively. Five years from now, he'll require opposing teams to shadow his every move.
Hot Button Topic: Is Darko Milicic the next great NBA bust? Hey, we'll be the first to admit that the 173 minutes of Milicic's rookie season belonged on a blooper real -- especially in contrast to Carmelo Anthony's stunning bow -- but remember three things... First, he was the youngest player in the League last season and he barely saw game action in Europe either. Second, he made so many mistakes because he plays so aggressively. The results will come -- what's so encouraging is how active he is on both ends. What sabotages so many 'stiffs' is their resignation to just stand around rather than do something that may open them to criticism. Will he be a dominant center in the NBA? Doubtful. But he should carve out a decent five-to-seven year stretch of All Star-caliber seasons.
The Best of His Generation: Dirk Nowitzki is the sure thing, as his current game is as polished and potent as it'll ever be. It's Yao Ming, though, with the greatest potential to be an All-Time great. Ming has grasped his ability to intimidate and take over the course of a game -- within two seasons, he'll be the biggest headache in the NBA.

첫댓글 지노빌리가 너무 높다는 생각이 좀 드네요;;
그리고 스페인 대표팀의 19세의 신예 루디 페르난데스도 앞으로 장래가 촉망되는 선수입니다.신장은 6-5(196cm)이고,아직 국대로서 경험은 일천하지만,좋은 포텐셜을 지닌 선수입니다.마치 외모는 아이마르를 연상시킨다는.ㅡㅡ;;
파커가 프랑스라...ㅡ_ㅡ;;
26. Ha s.corea
