[공산空山]

부처님이 금강경에서 “머무는 바 없이(無所住) 마음을 내어라, 보시하라, 봉사하라” 하고 무아(無我), 무주(無住)의 정견으로 하라 한바와 같이 혜능도 어머님께 효성을 다하는 순수한 마음이 그대로 자기를 비우는 수행이 되었고, 한 달 동안 걸어간 구도길도 부처가 되려는 한 마음으로 갔고, 오조사 방앗간에서 방아 찧는 생활이 그대로 자기를 비우고 대중을 위하는 마음으로 살았기에 그의 순수한 마음과 삶이 그대로 금강경의 가르침과 일치하니 쉽게 깨친 것이다.

혜능의 깨달음에서 재가 불자들은 큰 교훈을 배워야 한다. 깨달음이 참선하고 경전 공부하는 절에만 있는 것이 아니다. ‘평상심이 도’라 하듯이 도(道)는 자기를 비워 무아ㆍ공을 체험하고 실천하는데 있다. 집에서 밥하고 설거지 빨래하고 청소하고, 직장 일하고 이웃 관계하는 일상생활을 무아(無我)ㆍ무주(無住)의 정견으로 하면 그대로 수행이 된다. 글자도 모르던 혜능이 그런 삶을 살다가 깨쳤듯이….


회사나 가게를 운영하는 CEO도 자기를 내려놓고 고객과 직원, 그리고 세상의 행복을 위하는 가치로 일하면 그대로 수행이 된다. 그러지 않고 금강경 가르침과 반대로 ‘내가 있다(有我)’고 착각해서 ‘사장’이라는 상(相)에 집착하거나 가게와 회사, 돈과 재산, 명예를 ‘내 것’이라는 입장으로 경영하게 되면 내가 더 이익 되는 분별심에 사로잡혀 무주(無住)가 아닌 유주(有住)의 집착 경영을 하게 된다. 이런 가게와 회사는 스트레스와 갈등이 많고 발전에 한계가 있다.

최근 불거진 우리나라 최고 출판사 김영사를 놓고 금강경 독송 단체 대표인 회장과 그의 제자 사장 사이의 안타까운 갈등을 보면 이 분들이 과연 금강경의 무아ㆍ무주 정견을 갖춘 분인지 강한 의문이 든다. 이와 달리 ‘강남스타일’과 ‘빅뱅’을 만든 YG엔터테인먼트의 양현석 대표가 얼마 전 사재를 출연하여 ‘무주재단’을 만들어 어려운 청소년들을 돕는 활동을 시작했다는 소식은 반갑다. ‘무주(無住)’라는 재단 이름은 양 대표가 과거와 미래와 현재의 성공과 한계에 머무르지 않고 계속해서 진화해 나갈 의지라고 설명한다.

오랑캐 혜능이 일만 하다가 금강경을 듣고 생로병사를 해탈했듯이 우리도 무아ㆍ무주의 정견으로 열심히 일하면서 남을 돕고 살아간다면 어느 날 문득 깨칠 수가 있다.

그날이 언제일까? 바로 오늘이다. 인생은 영원히 오늘 밖에 없다.

As the Buddha said in the Diamond Sutra, "Bring your heart, give it to you, serve without staying," and as the political opinion of selflessness and Muju, Hyeneung's pure heart of filial piety to his mother became a practice of emptying himself as it was, and the old road that walked for a month went with the intention of becoming a Buddha, and his pure heart and life were easily realized because he emptied himself and lived with a heart for the public.

In Hyeneung's enlightenment, ashes Buddhists must learn a great lesson. Enlightenment is not only in the temple where you meditate and study the scriptures. Just as "normal heart is the Tao," the Tao is to empty oneself to experience and practice selflessness and ball. If you eat at home, wash dishes, wash laundry, clean, work, and live your daily life with neighbors based on the political views of selflessness and Muju, it will be practiced as it is. Just as Hye-neung, who didn't even know the letters, realized it while living such a life... .


The CEO who runs a company or store also puts himself down and works with values for customers, employees, and the happiness of the world, and it will be carried out as it is. Otherwise, contrary to the teachings of the Diamond Sutra, if I misunderstand that I am, and become obsessed with the award of "president," or if I manage stores, companies, money, property, and honor in the position of "mine," I will be obsessed with more profitable discernment and run the obsession of Yuju, not Muju. These stores and companies have a lot of stress and conflict and have limitations in development.

Given the unfortunate conflict between the chairman of the Geumganggyeong Reading Group and his disciple president over Kim Young-sa, Korea's top publishing company, it is strongly questionable whether they have the selfless and Muju political views of the Geumganggyeong. On the other hand, it is nice to hear that Yang Hyun-seok, CEO of YG Entertainment, who created "Gangnam Style" and "Big Bang," recently started helping young people in need by creating the "Muju Foundation" with his own money. The foundation's name "Muju" explains that CEO Yang is willing to continue to evolve, not just stay in the success and limitations of the past, future and present.

Just as barbaric Hyeneung listened to the Geumganggyeong after working and liberated life, death, and death, we can suddenly realize one day if we work hard with the political views of selflessness and Muju and help others.

When is that day? It's today. Life is only today forever.
