Many of the things that happened to Stanley and Zero were because of the fate. These things helped Stanly and Zero to meet and survive a lot of adventures. They were also able to find the treasure because of fate, I think.

It was a fate for Stanley and Zero to meet. When zero threw the sneakers over the bridge, they fell on Stanley. But Stanley thought they were just a ordinary sneakers that fell from the sky, however, the sneakers allowed to someone, and that sneakers were very expensive.

They survived all throughout the adventures because of the fate. When Stanley wanted to find Zero, He founded him under the boat in the large lake. When they did not have water, they were still able to survive because Zero founded the sploosh under the boat. The sploosh was canned peaches that Kate Barlow had made 100 years ago. Kate Barlow and the onion picker, Sam each loved each other. But because of the law, the onion picker, Sam hanged up, and this shocked Kate, and she robbed many banks,

It was fate for Stanley to find Kate Barlow’s lipstick tube first. Actually, Kate Barlow had stolen Stanley’s great-great-grandfather’s money and buried it with the lipstick tube somewhere. The truth of Camp Green Lake is that to make the boys dig holes to find Stanly’s suitcase of millions of loots. 

I think that fate was important in Holes. Fate helped the boys meet. Fate helped the boys run away from the camp and survive without water. Fate helped the boys find the treasure of Kate Barlow. Without fate, the boys would have failed everything.
