<My Utmost for His Highest> written by OSWALD CHAMBERS SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS “Come unto Me.” Matthew 11:28 God means us to live a fully-orbed life in Christ Jesus, but there are times when that life is attacked from the outside, and we tumble into a way of introspection which we thought had gone. Self-consciousness is the first thing that will upset the completeness of the life in God, and self-consciousness continually produces wrestling. Self-consciousness is not sin; it may be produced by a nervous temperament or by a sudden dumping down into new circumstances. It is never God’s will that we should be anything less than absolutely complete in Him. Anything that disturbs rest in Him must be cured at once, and it is not cured by being ignored, but by coming to Jesus Christ. If we come to Him and ask Him to produce Christ-consciousness, He will always do it until we learn to abide in Him. Never allow the dividing up of your life in Christ to remain without facing it. Beware of leakage, of the dividing up of your life by the influence of friends or of circumstances; beware of anything that is going to split up your oneness with Him and make you see yourself separately. Nothing is so important as to keep right spiritually. The great solution is the simple one—“Come unto Me.” The depth of our reality, intellectually, morally and spiritually, is tested by these words. In every degree in which we are not real, we will dispute rather than come.   Lord, I praise Thee for the sense of well-being which is mine this morning. How I praise Thee for the deep revelation of Redemption! Shine with unclouded ray upon us all.   AUGUST 19 --------------------------------------------------------- 자의식 과잉 “내게로 오라.”                          마태복음 11:28   하나님께서는 우리가 그리스도 예수 안에서 성숙한 삶을 영위하도록 섭리하십니다. 그러나 삶이 외부로부터 공격 당하는 때가 종종 있습니다. 그리하여 이미 사라졌다고 우리가 생각했던 자기 성찰의 방법 속으로 허겁지겁 굴러듭니다. 자의식 과잉은 하나님 안에서의 삶의 완전성을 망쳐 놓을 첫 번째 것입니다. 그리하여 자의식 과잉은 끊임 없이 싸움을 불러 일으킵니다. 자의식 과잉이 죄는 아닙니다. 그것은 신경질적인 기질 또는 갑자기 새로운 환경에 던져짐으로써 야기될 수 있습니다. 우리가 하나님 안에서 철저하게 완전한 수준보다 못한 존재가 된다는 것은 결코 하나님의 뜻이 아닙니다. 하나님 안에서의 안식을 훼방하는 것은 무엇이든지 즉시 제거되어야 합니다. 그런데 무시한다 하여 그것이 제거되는 것이 아니고 예수 그리스도를 만남으로써 제거되는 것입니다. 만약 우리가 주님을 만나 주님 위주로 살도록 해달라고 주님께 간구하면, 주님은 그 기도에 항상 응답해주심으로써 우리가 주님 안에 거하여 살게 될 것입니다. 그리스도 안에서의 당신의 삶을 분열된 상태로 결코 놔두지 마세요. 영적 누출, 친구들 또는 환경의 영향을 통해 당신 삶이 분열되지 않도록 조심하십시오. 주님과 당신이 하나로 연합됨을 분리하여 당신 자신을 분열시키는 것은 무엇이든 주의하십시오, 영적으로 의로운 상태를 유지하는 것만큼 중요한 것은 아무것도 없습니다. “내게로 오라.”는 말씀과 같이 단순하게 주님을 만나는 것이 훌륭한 해답입니다. 주님의 이러한 말씀들을 통해서 우리 실체의 깊이가 지적으로 도덕적으로 그리고 영적으로 검증됩니다. 우리가 진실하지 않은 정도만큼 우리는 주님을 만나기보다 오히려 논쟁하려 할 것입니다.   주님, 행복이 내 것이라는 생각 때문에 오늘 아침 주님을 찬양합니다. 구속의 깊은 계시로 인해서 제가 주님을 얼마나 찬양하는지요! 맑은 광선으로 우리 모두를 비쳐주시옵소서.   8월 19일 성령충만땅에천국 옮김
