I was so much upset, annoyed, and irritated during this weekend because of one mannerless student.
One day of last week, she came to me and said, "I feel disgusted because you treat students as children".
I was really embarrassed to hear that direct message at first,
and moreover, I was angry since she generalized her opinion like it was the most of students' and even more, she tried to
critised my teaching method!
How dare you..?
Did you learn how to teach in university for more than 5 years? Have you taught students by yourself for more than 7 years?
I admit that sometimes I talk to my students as I meet babies, but I do not agree I should be criticised because of that.
I might agree I could be told badly if I was mean or did harm to students, but I wasn't and didn't.
It is possible, though, to think like her. But, the way of delivering a message is as important as the message itself.
How dare you..
I'm, frankly speaking, upset.
Since she is still young and not matured yet, I don't want to criticise or scold her in public for her carelessness : That is why I write this in English, not in Korean.
However, I thought it is needed to give students a lesson about the manner of talking : You should think one more time before when you talk and be very careful about whether you simply and too quickly generalize your personal opinion or not. And if you think of someone intimate, then you've got to be a lot more careful, because he or she would be easily harmed by what you say. Intimacy doesn't justify your lack of courtesy.
Observe good manners, guys, please.
p.s.
Ah! I found one thing I should be thankful about her: I became to more appreciate the people who love me purely without any of criticism.
첫댓글 I miss your lessons...
Thank you Jun-o. I miss you as my student and the year 2005 so much..
Well, I think you care and I want to be in your (home) class.
I also want you to be in my class. I'm lucky to be able to meet you as my student, anyway. :)
