1733~1746년에 조각가인 형 에기트 크비린 아잠과 화가이자 건축가인 동생 코스마스 다미안 아잠이

자비를 들여 터를 사들이고 건축에서 장식까지 담당한 교회로

그들의 정성과 예술혼이 고스란히 담겨 있는 하나의 작품과도 같은 교회이다.

공식명은 장크트 요하네스 네포무크 교회 (St. Johannes Nepomukkriche)이며

입구 위에 이 교회의 수호 성인인 성 네포묵의 조각상이 있고

내부에 그의 일생을 그린 프레스코화로 장식되어 있다.

로코코 건축의 보배로 꼽히는 이 교회는 비록 그 규모는 작지만 드물게 건물 전체가

단일 양식으로 통일되어 있으며 구석구석 세심하고 정교하게 설계되었다.

이 교회 역시 제 2차 세계 대전으로 상당한 전화를 입어 1985년 경 복구된 것이다.

St. Johann Nepomuk, better known as the Asam Church

(German: Asamkirche) is a church in Munich, southern Germany,

built from 1733 to 1746 by the brothers Egid Quirin Asam

and Cosmas Damian Asam as their private church. Due to resistance of the citizens,

the brothers were forced to make the church accessible to the public.

ordered thrown into the Vltava river in Prague by Bohemian king Wenzeslaus IV,

because Nepomuk refused to reveal the secret of the queen's confession.

Asamkirche was built by a pair of brothers who intended the structure to be their own private church.

 (However, church hierarchy demanded it be open to the public).
Constructed between 1733 and 1746, this church -

for which the real name is Church of St. Johann Nepomuk - was designed by two brothers,

architects Cosmas Damian Asam and Egid Quirin Asam,

who lived in a home next door to their extravagant house of worship.

  마치 값비싼 보석 가게 안으로 들어가는 듯한 느낌이 들게 했던

범상치 않은 아잠 교회의 입구.

The high altar is enclosed by four twisted columns

and a glass shrine contains a wax figure of the church's namesake.

The cornice above depicts God the Father bending over the crucified Christ.

Two angels, sculpted by Ignaz Günther, flank the gallery altar

and were added to the church at a later date.

에기트 크비린 아잠은 아잠 교회에 인접한 주택에 살고 있었는데

두 건물은 복도로 연결되어있었고 그의 침실 창에서는 주 제단이 보이도록 설계되었다고 한다.

교회의 바로 왼편에 보이는 우아한 부조로 장식된 흰색의 건물이

바로 아잠 하우스이며 이 주택의 정면 장식들은 본인이 직접 한 것으로 알려져 있다.
