성경의 예언에 대한 사람들의 태도는 매우 다양합니다. 어떤 신자들은 예언에 너무 집착한 나머지, 최근의 세상사들이 예수님께서 곧 재림하실 징조라고 생각하면서 끊임없이 그 얘기들을 합니다. 그런가하면 다른 부류의 사람들은 예언을 너무 가볍게 다루어서, 마치 예언이 그리스도인으로서의 삶과는 아무 상관이 없다고 여기는 듯 보입니다.
People’s attitudes toward Bible
prophecy vary widely. Some
believers are so preoccupied with it
that they are constantly talking about
the latest world events, thinking they
are biblical signs that Christ could
return at any moment. Others are so
casual in their view of prophecy that it
seems as if they don’t believe it’s relevant
to the Christian life at all.

So is prophecy important? Here are
some facts to help put things in perspective.
There are 31,124 verses in
the Bible. Of these verses, 8,352 have
prophetic content of some kind. That’s
27 percent of Scripture!


성경의 4분의 1 이상을 예언이 차지하고 있으므로, 신자라면 하나님의 계시를 나타내주는 예언의 역할을 매우 중요하게 여겨야 합니다. 그러면서도 하나님께서 왜 성경에 예언을 기록하셨는지도 기억해야 합니다. 베드로는 세상이 어떻게 종말을 맞이하게 될 지 묘사한 후에, “이 모든 것이 이렇게 풀어지리니 너희가 어떠한 사람이 되어야 마땅하냐 거룩한 행실과 경건함으로”(벧후 3:11) 살아야할 것이라고 결론을 내립니다. 다시 말해서 우리는 미래의 처소에 적합한 경건의 삶을 매일 선택하며 살아야 하는 것입니다.
Because prophecy occupies more
than a quarter of Scripture, the believer
should deeply value its role in God’s
revelation. But in doing so, we should remember why God
put it there. After describing how the world will end, Peter
concludes, “Since everything will be destroyed in this way,
what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy
and godly lives” (2 Peter 3:11 NIV). In other words, we
should make choices daily for godly living that conform to
our future dwelling place.


하나님이 미래에 대한 정보를 우리에게 미리 주신 이유는, 하나님을 영화롭게 하고, 하나님이 역사의 전적인 주관자이심을 우리가 확신하며, 우리가 경건한 삶을 살도록 도전을 주시기 위해서입니다.
