They attack, and they’re swarming in front of them
The fire sticks flew through the narrow passage of the canyon, followed by the flames of the fire lance stretching out. Wooden spears rained down, and ice spears plunged into the enemy lines, carrying a chilling cold as if to freeze the air.
The goblin archers also laid down their bows. Arrows shot by lone-wolf archers and spiderweb arrows flew in all at once. Projectile fragments scattered across the rocks, while fire and ice blanketed the canyon’s walls.
However, the attacks failed to register.
The trolls kept walking, rubbing their skin singed by the flames. The arrowheads could not penetrate the earth trolls’ thick rocky skin deeply. The Satirops deflected the incoming spears or twisted their bodies to avoid them. The goblins’ heavy-armored warriors stacked their shields alongside the spider-armor warriors, while the spider lord’s bodyguards clad in poison armor blocked their path like a black wall.
An ice spear pierced the troll's shoulder, but he only shook his body for a moment. Soon, a huge hand grasped the spear shaft and broke it.
"Fire more!"
The fire stick breathed fire again. This time, multiple shots were fired in succession. The flames of the fire lance covered the area, while the Wooden Spear and Ice Spear filled the gaps. Though bows and spears rained down, the enemy’s advance did not cease.
Instead, they charged through the attack.
The stone bullets roared as they hurled off rock fragments and shraples. The goblins continued firing from the top of the collapsed cliff, while the trolls charged down below, crouching. As the earth trolls slammed the ground with both their hands, the entire canyon shook. Stone pillars rose between the cracked earth, blocking the path.
The spider riders seized the opportunity.
Giant spiders ran along the rock wall, spewing venom. Spidermen shot threads to tie ankles and arms, while anti-spider goblins crawled up walls to swarm the squares. The spider-human variant with six arms swung multiple weapons at once. Spider-leg trackers moved across the ceiling, while shadowbells emerged from the black crevices to attack before retreating back into the darkness.
At the command of the spider swarm leader, hundreds of tiny spiders covered the ground. As the pouches thrown by the poison bombers burst open, thick fog of poison rose. Spider spirit mages wove curses within, and poison mist mages layered illusions to blur even the actual locations of the enemies.
Despite all those attacks, the enemies kept moving forward.
The trolls broke through the path by smashing rocks with their clubs. The Satiropes leapt over the fallen stone pillars and threw spears. Goblin spearmen maintained their formation with long lancearms at the forefront, while spiderweb spearmen held their opponents’ movements with threads entwined at the spearheads.
Behind them, a spider monster appeared.
It was a monster entwined with the bodies of a giant spider and a goblin. Poison flowed beneath layers of chitinous skin, and thick spider webs burst out of its mouth like a storm. Every time he moved, the rock collapsed.
Finally, the Spider Lord appeared inside the canyon.
The goblin's form was now barely there. The upper body bore marks of shattered armor, but the lower half had transformed into the body of a giant spider. Countless spiders surrounded them, and black webs stretched between the cliff and the ground, forming a barrier.
When the spider lord raised his hand, venom and darkness spread forth simultaneously.
The flames that had flown ahead were blocked by a black curtain, and the ice spear shattered into pieces entangled in a spiderweb. Dolchong's bullet was deflected after hitting the toxic barrier.
Even so, the attack did not stop.
The fire stick breathed fire, and the fire lance thrust flames in. The Wooden Spear and Ice Spear flew in one after another. The archers set off their volleys, and the sling bullets rained down. The goblins pushed against one another as they charged forward, while the trolls tore through the crumbling rocks.
In a canyon tangled with fire and ice, poison and cobwebs, the enemies never ceased their advance.
The collapsed mountain range continued to shake beneath their feet. Bones fell from the cliff, and the poisonous mist filled the lowlands. Nevertheless, the goblin troops, trolls, satyropes, and spider webs continued their attacks.
As if as if everything that steps into this gorge must be trampled.
