The first Europeans to set eyes on the Grand Canyon were Spanish explorers in 1540. The Grand Canyon isn't only known for its great hiking trails and breathtaking cliff views. Bald eagles, mountain lions, elks, and black widow spiders are among the many different species that roam the red rocks. In 1966, animal figurines made from split twigs were discovered inside caves at the Grand Canyon. Gazing at the picturesque landscape isn't the only thing to do at the Grand Canyon.
