When the Israelites escaped /from Egypt

—when the family of Jacob left [that foreign land]—

When 그때 the Israelites 이스라엘이 escaped 탈출했을 때 /from Egypt 애굽으로부터

—when 그떄 the family 그 가족이 of Jacob 야곱의 left 떠났을 때 [that 그 foreign 낯선 land 땅을]—

* leave는 문맥에 따라 남다 또는 떠나다는 전혀 반대 의미가 나옴

1 God brought his people /out of Egypt,

that land /with a strange language.

1 God 하나님께서는 brought 데려오셨다 his 그분의 people 백성들을 out of Egypt 애굽 밖으로,
that 그 land 땅 /with a strange 이상한 language 언어를 가진.

*  형역인 동격 명사구, that land /with a strange language = that land /with a strange language.

the land of Judah became God’s sanctuary,
and Israel became his kingdom.

3 When the sea looked at [God],
it ran away,
and the Jordan River flowed /upstream.

the hills like lambs!

the hills 언덕은 like lambs 양같이!

What’s wrong, Red Sea, that made [you] [hurry out of their way]?
What happened, Jordan River, that you turned away?

What’s 그 무엇이 wrong 잘못이냐, Red Sea 홍해야,

that 그것 made 만든 [you 너를] [hurry out 서둘러 나오게 of their 그들의 way길로부터]?
What 무엇이 happened 일어났느냐, Jordan River 요단강아, that 그래서 you 네가 turned away 돌아서게?

* 형절 that made [you] [hurry out of their way]

주어가 빠진 불완전 문이기에 형절이고 선행사는 의문 대명사인 what

Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob.

yes, a spring of water flowed /from solid rock.

yes 맞다, a spring of water 샘물이 flowed 흘렀다 /from solid 단단한 rock 반석으로부터.

* 모세가 반석을 치매 물이 흘러나온 건 하나님께서 하신 일이었다

8 because he turns solid rock /into flowing streams and pools of water.

8 because 왜냐면 he 그분께서는 turns 변하게 하신 때문이다 solid 단단한 rock 반석을

* 바위에서 물이 흘러나오니까 그 주변이 물 웅덩이로 변했다고 생각됨
