참부모경 - 416. 세계평화교수협의회 창설 목적

참부모님께서는 세계적인 석학들을 중심으로 평화세계 건설을 위한 각 분야 연구와 활동을 지원하기 위해 세계평화교수협의회(PWPA)를 창설하셨다. 세계평화교수협의회 창립총회는 1973년 5월 6일 서울에서 교수 초청 통일원리 세미나와 대학원리연구회 활동 등을 통해 연결된 교수 등 163명이 참석한 가운데 개최되었다. 세계평화교수협의회는 각국에 지부를 두고 있으며, 각국 회원들은 ‘세계평화를 위한 학문적 기여’라는 공동의 목표 아래 상호 교류․협력하고 있다. 특히 세계평화를 주제로 다양한 학술세미나를 개최하였으며, 1986년 1월 21일 참부모님의 지시에 의해 세계평화교수협의회 부설기관으로 한국 각지 100여 곳에 향토학교를 설립하여 소외된 청소년들의 교육을 지원하는 등 대사회 활동도 전개하였다.
 
1 우리가 통일과학이라는 문제를 중심삼고 전 세계적으로 교수들을 초청해서 연차 행사를 하는데, 여기에 얼마나 관심을 많이 갖는지 모릅니다. 맨 처음에는 비판도 했지만 요즈음에 와서는 ‘레버런 문이 하는 것은 전부 심각한 문제다.’고 말합니다. 이런 단계에 들어가서 밀고 나가는 것입니다. 그래서 어떻게든지 교수들을 하나로 규합해야 되겠다고 생각했습니다. 그렇게 교수들을 규합하기 위한 작전을 한국에서 해야 되겠기 때문에 세계평화교수협의회를 결성한 것입니다. 다시 말하면 ‘전 세계의 교수들이 이 평화세계 건설을 위하여 각 분야에서 실제 행동은 못하지만 머리를 쓰고 글을 써서 방향을 제시하는 데 선봉에 서야 되겠다.’고 해서 세계평화교수협의회라는 모임을 만든 것입니다. 한국에서는 이미 성공적입니다. 앞으로 한국과 일본과 대만을 중심삼고 세계적으로 세계평화교수협의회가 결성될 것입니다.
 
2 세계평화교수협의회의 이름으로 광장이라는 월간지를 만들고 있습니다. 이것을 전 세계 대학교에 발송하였기 때문에 한국에서 이런 운동을 하고 있다는 것을 이미 이름 있는 교수들은 다 알고 있습니다. 그러므로 아시아에서 저명한 교수들을 규합해서 아시아평화교수협의회가 발기만 되면 이것이 유럽에도 연결되는 것입니다. 그뿐만 아니라 미국 동부 서부의 중진교수들을 세계평화교수협의회 핵심요원을 만들 수 있습니다. 이 사람들은 돈을 주고도 못 삽니다. 이렇게 세계적으로 조직을 편성해서 무엇을 할 것이냐? 부모님은 이 세계평화교수협의회를 중심삼고 노벨상 수상제도와 같은 제도를 만들 계획을 하고 있습니다. 노벨상 이상의 상금을 걸고 세계기록을 깨뜨리는 표창제도를 만들려고 합니다.
 
3 세계를 움직이는 사람은 학자들입니다. 정치가들이 움직이는 것이 아닙니다. 그 나라의 정책을 수립하는 모든 분야에서 주도적인 두뇌 역할을 하는 사람은 유명한 교수나 학자들입니다. 그 나라의 정책 수행자들은 그들의 두뇌에 의해서 프로그램을 맞추는 사람들입니다. 학자들과 대학생들을 보면, 학자들은 선두에 섰고 대학생들은 이 시대의 뒤에 서 있습니다. 그들을 연결시켜야 중추가 됩니다. 등뼈입니다. 그렇기 때문에 지금까지 통일교회가 반대를 받으면서도 그들을 연결시키려고 하였습니다. 그런데 그런 일이 쉬운 것이 아닙니다. 더욱이나 통일교회를 지도하고 있는 아버님이 세계적으로 논란의 대상이 되어 있기 때문에 그들을 연결시킨다는 것은 쉬운 일이 아닙니다. 그런 것을 보면서 나는 미국에서 활동할 앞날을 생각하였던 것입니다. 이 일은 돈이 있다고 되는 것이 아니고 그야말로 정성을 다해서 세계를 사랑하는 마음을 갖지 않고는 안 되는 것입니다.
 
4 인간 개인의 몸 마음이 갈라짐으로써 인류역사는 사탄 판도와 하늘 판도로 분리되어 투쟁의 역사를 거쳐 나왔습니다. 개인에서 갈라지고 가정․종족․민족이 역사시대를 거쳐 오면서 수없이 전쟁을 한 것입니다. 역사적으로 볼 때 종교권과 정치권이 싸웠는데 언제나 정치권이 종교권을 쳤습니다. 또 과학세계와 종교권이 싸워 나왔는데 과학세계가 언제난 종교권을 쳐 나왔습니다. 그러나 부모님시대에는 정치권과 종교권, 또 과학세계와 종교권의 일체를 이루어야 됩니다. 그렇기 때문에 부모님이 세계 학자들을 규합해 나온 것입니다. 지금까지 과학자들과 종교권이 원수가 되어 있었습니다. 이를 통일하려면 먼저 세계의 학자들을 규합해야 됩니다. 그래서 국제과학통일회의와 세계평화교수협의회를 편성한 것입니다. 이들 학자와 통일교회가 합해야 됩니다. 그래야 종교권과 정치권이 통일되는 것입니다.
 
5 우리는 학계를 수습해야 됩니다. 학계를 수습하기 위해 국제과학통일회의를 개최해 나왔습니다. 이 회의는 세계적인 학자를 묶는 데 있어서 유일한 모임이 되었습니다. 그리고 세계의 유명한 학자들 중심으로 국가와 국가를 연결하는 세계평화교수협의회가 있습니다. 이중 작전을 하는 것입니다. 세계적인 하나의 모델형과 국가적인 하나의 모델형을 만들어 국가적을 성과 있는 사람은 세계로 갈 수 있게끔 묶어 주는 것입니다. 세계로 진출할 수 있는 길을 열어 주는 것입니다. 세계 유명한 학술기관에 영향을 줄 수 있는 발판을 마련해 주는 것입니다. 노벨상 수상자를 선정할 때에도 우리가 배후에서 추천하고 있습니다. 정상의 자리에 올라갈 수 있도록 지원하는 것입니다.
 
6 우리가 국제과학통일회의를 주도하고 있기 때문에 교수들에게 ‘이러한 세계적인 교수협의회가 있으니 당신들도 여기에 가입해 주시오.’라고 하면 싫다고 하지 않습니다. 그렇게 되면 세계 10개국이면 10개국 과학계의 중진과 손잡을 수 있습니다. 교수협의회에 세계적인 학자들을 가입시켜야 합니다. 앞으로 아시아로부터 시작하여 세계 학자들을 교수협의회에 연결시키기 위해서입니다. 세계적인 교수들을 하나로 묶어 주는 날에는 금후의 세계를 위해서 세계정책을 수립한다든가 다방면의 전문분야에서 세계적으로 영향을 미칠 수 있는 일을 할 수 있습니다. 그러기 위해서 각 분과별로 세계에 없는 간행물을 만들자는 것입니다. 그래서 경제분야 농업분야 과학분야 등 각 분야의 잡지는 세계에 이름난 사람들이 만들어 내기 때문에 세계적으로 알려지게 되어 있습니다. 금후의 세계정책을 결정하는 데 영향을 미칠 수 있는 수뇌부와 같은 것을 만들어 놓자는 것입니다.
 
7 세계적인 교수협의회를 구성하게 되면 그 명성이 널리 알려지게 될 것입니다. 이쯤 되면 어디 가든지 우리 기반이 있기 때문에 그런 사람들을 초청하여 순회교수단을 만들려고 합니다. 한 대학에서만 강의하지 말라는 것입니다. 세계적으로 유명한 대학을 중심삼고 6개월이면 6개월 동안 순회강연을 하게 하는 것입니다. 그 월급은 우리가 주자는 것입니다. 이렇게 세계적인 순회교수단을 만들어 세계를 한 바퀴 돌게 합니다. 그런 다음에는 어느 대학에 가 있더라도 관계되어 있는 학자나 학생들이 관심을 갖고 몰려올 것입니다. 유명한 사람의 주관 밑에서 학위를 받으면 그 문하생들도 세계적으로 유명한 사람이 되는 것입니다. 그래서 한 5, 6년 후에 한 바퀴 돌면서 학위를 주게 하는 것입니다. 이렇게 되면 이 대학에 노벨상을 수상한 교수를 비롯하여 전문가들이 몰려들게 마련입니다.
 
8 앞으로 세계적인 교수협의회를 만들어 한 500명의 교수들이 대한민국에 들어왔다 하면 대학가가 돌아가게 되는 것입니다. 앞으로 우리가 세계적인 대학을 짓게 되면 교수협의회에서 추대를 받은 세계적인 대학교수들을 우리 학교에 데려오는 것입니다. 그렇게 해서 세계적인 석학들을 한곳에 집중시키면 세계적인 대학이 됩니다. 그래서 그 대학을 움직이고 사회제도가 거기에 상대적 기반을 갖게 되면 이 나라는 세계적인 문화국가가 되는 것입니다. 미국이 근대에 세계적인 주도권을 쥐게 된 것은 세계적인 인재들을 품을 수 있는 대학이 민주세계에서 주도적인 역할을 할 수 있는 인재를 길러 각 나라에서 장관, 국장들이 되게 하였기 때문에 미국이 세계적인 주도국이 되었다는 것입니다.
 
9 미국에서 대학가를 포섭하기 위한 간접적 작전을 하기 위해서 세계평화교수협의회를 만들었습니다. 이 평화교수협의회를 일본에도 만들고 대만에도 만들었는데, 그것을 왜 만들었는지 압니까? 세계적으로 이 평화교수협의회를 연결시켜 앞으로 세계대학연맹을 만들려고 합니다. 세계적인 대학을 세워서 국제적인 인재를 양성하려고 합니다.
 
10 세계평화교수협의회를 만들 때 일화가 많습니다. 당시 정보 당국에서는 ‘정부의 힘을 가지고 총력을 다해 움직여도 13명의 교수밖에 안 모였는데, 문 아무개가 교수아카데미를 만들어?’라고 말하였습니다. 그래서 나는 ‘그들은 대한민국이라는 국가적 견지에서 하지만 나는 아시아적 견지에서 한다.’고 하였습니다. 그것을 준비하기 위해서 많은 사람들이 종횡으로 왕래하는 기반을 다 갖추어서 세계평화교수협의회 편성을 한국에서 시작하였습니다. 그다음에 일본까지 가능하였지만, 미국은 그때까지만 해도 기반이 안 되어 있었습니다. 그래서 미국을 중심삼고 국제과학통일회의를 발판으로 삼아 유럽 여러 나라에 세계평화교수협의회를 단계적으로 편성하였습니다.
 
11 여러분 교수들은 세계평화교수협의회에 적을 두고 있습니다. 그동안 많은 핍박도 받고 별의별 어려운 환경을 거쳐 오면서 일해 주신 것을 고맙게 생각하고 있습니다. 그렇지만 그것으로 끝나서는 안 됩니다. 이제 한국을 대표하는 학자들을 일본학자들과 연결하는 운동을 해야 되는데, 학자들이 그것을 해야 됩니다. 일본이 그 운동을 할 단계에 들어왔고, 미국이 할 단계에 들어왔고, 영국이 할 단계에 들어왔습니다. 그러니 이 일을 빠른 시일 내에 연결시켜서 한국을 구하고 공산진영을 방비해야 됩니다. 이런 거대한 연결체를 만들어서 한국이 금후에 가야 할 길, 즉 남북통일을 하고 아시아 제국 앞에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 권을 표준으로 하고 움직여야 됩니다. 그러기 위해서 학자들이 동원되고, 경제인들이 동원되고, 정치인들이 동원되고, 각 분야가 동원되어서 결집할 수 있는 기반을 편성해야 됩니다. 그것은 학자들밖에 할 수 없습니다.
 
12 한국 최고의 지성과 권위를 가진 학자 여러분은 이제 이 나라가 갈 수 있는 방향을 교시해 주어야 합니다. 그러기 위해서 연구를 해야 되는데 개인의 연구시대는 지나갔습니다. 이제는 클럽 연구시대입니다. 그것도 국가 내의 클럽 연구시대는 지나가고 아시아의 학자들을 규합한 클럽 연구시대, 더 나아가서는 세계의 학자들을 중심한 클럽 연구시대가 도래한 것입니다. 이러한 방향을 갖추지 않고는 세계에 방향을 교시할 수 있는 길이 없습니다. 그러니 대한민국의 풍토를 가지고는 안 됩니다. 미국이 절대 필요하다는 것입니다. 이러한 배후의 기반을 닦기 위해서 내가 한국인의 한 사람으로서 이런 일을 한 것입니다. 이런 사실은 꿈같은 이야기지만, 내가 천의에 의해 금후의 세계가 가야 할 방향성을 확실히 알았기 때문에 거기에 조금이라도 도움이 될 수 있기를 바라며 노력하다 보니 이런 결과가 이루어졌습니다. 이것은 전 세계의 지성인들이 합해서 해야 될 일입니다.
 
13 세계평화교수협의회를 중심삼고 아시아의 학자들이 힘을 합하게되면 아시아를 대표할 수 있는 새로운 백과사전이든 무엇이든 만들 수 있습니다. 그래서 다방면에서 할 일이 많다는 것입니다. 그런 의미에서 교수 여러분이 일심동체가 되어 협조할 수 있다면 내게 있는 미력이나마 여러분의 뒤를 밀려고 생각합니다. 여러분이 그러한 연구를 하기 위해서는 연구실이나 회관도 필요한 것입니다. 그래서 내가 그것을 마련하려고 생각하고 있습니다. 그런데 여러분이 아시아적인 주체성을 책임질 수 있느냐는 것입니다. 일본 교수들을 교육할 수 있는 그 무엇을 가졌느냐는 것입니다. 그러니까 통일사상이라든가 통일원리 등을 먼저 준비하라는 것입니다. 그러면 그들을 완전히 이끌어 갈 수 있습니다.
 
14 지금 제일 문제가 되는 것이 2세입니다. 2세, 대학생들을 수습해야 된다는 것입니다. 이것을 안 하면 안 됩니다. 그래서 내가 교수들을 붙들고 나온 것입니다. 이제는 세계 대학가를 지도하는 사람들을 국가체제를 중심삼고 남북통일의 시대가 올 때에는 선두에 서게 해야 됩니다. 이들이 선두에 서야 됩니다. 2세를 붙들고 아버님처럼 눈물 흘리고 남북통일의 사상을 같이하는 것입니다. 그래서 내가 그 기지를 교회에 만들어 주는 것입니다. 면 책임자가 되어서 거기에 있는 중고등학교와 초등학교 선생들을 놓고 눈물 흘리면서 애국사상을 심어 주라는 것입니다. 그러면 남북통일은 문제없습니다. 교육받은 사람들이 가서 향리를 정리해야 됩니다. 향토가 없는 사람이 없습니다. 그래서 향토학교를 만들고 지금 이 일을 해 나가는 것입니다. 이것은 임시나 재미로 해 나가는 것이 아닙니다. 섭리적 관에 맞추어서 하고 있습니다. 가르쳐 주고 탕감복귀역사를 해 나오는 것이 아닙니다. 나 혼자 해 나왔습니다. 내가 알고 그렇게 하니까 하나님이 협조하였다는 것입니다. 우연히 된 것이 아닙니다.
 
15 대학교수들을 중심삼고 전국의 대학가를 움직이고 교수를 움직여야 됩니다. 또 지방의 중고등학교를 움직여야 됩니다. 공산세력이 좌익 색채를 띤 교재를 중심삼고 학교에 침투해 들어오는 것을 지금까지는 내버려두었습니다. 교육 당국이 책임 못했다는 것입니다. 그러니 어떻게 해서든지 지방에서 대학교 총장을 움직여야 되고, 중고등학교 교장을 움직여야 되고, 초등학교 교장을 움직여야 됩니다. 환경적으로 누구 제재를 받지 않고 자유스럽게 움직일 수 있는 권한을 가지고 있는 사람이 교수입니다. 아버님이 통·반에서 향토학교를 만든 것은 이 운동을 위해서입니다. 향토를 사랑하자는 것입니다. 애국은 향토에서부터 시작됩니다. 그러니 향토학교를 만들어서 불쌍한 사람들을 교육하라는 것입니다. 자기 피살이 애국심에 불타거들랑 밤을 지새워 가면서 마을의 불쌍한 사람들을 안고 눈물을 흘리며 교육하라는 것입니다.

真の父母経 - 416. 「世界平和教授アカデミー」創設の目的

真の父母様は、世界的な碩学たちを中心に、平和世界建設のための各分野の研究と活動 を支援するため、「世界平和教授アカデミー(PWPA)」を創設された。「世界平和教授アカデミー」創立総会は、一九七三年五月六日、教授招請「統一原 理」セミナーや大学原理研究会の活動などを通してつながった教授など、百六十三人が参加する中、ソウルで開催された。「世界平和教授アカデミー」は各国に 支部を置き、各国の会員は「世界平和のための学問的寄与」という共同目標のもと、相互交流および協力をしている。特に、世界平和をテーマに多様な学術セミ ナーを開催し、一九八六年一月二十一日には、真の父母様の指示により、「世界平和教授アカデミー」の付設として、韓国各地の百ヵ所以上で郷土学校が設立さ れ、恵まれない青少年たちの教育を支援するなど、対社会的な活動も展開してきた。

1     私たちは、統一科学という問題を中心として、全世界的に教授たちを招請し、年次行事を行っていますが、みな、ここにどれほど多大な関心を寄せているか分か りません。最初は批判もしましたが、最近になって、「レバレンド・ムーンが取り組んでいることは、すべてが深刻な問題だ」と言っています。このような段階 に入って、推し進めていくのです。ですから、何としてでも教授たちを一つに糾合しなければならないと考えました。そのように教授たちを糾合するための作戦 を韓国で展開しなければならないので、「世界平和教授アカデミー」を結成したのです。

言い換えれば、「全世界の教授たちが、この平和世界の建設のために、各分野で実際に行動することはできなくても、頭を使い、文章を書いて、方向を提 示することにおいて先頭に立たなければならない」と言って、「世界平和教授アカデミー」という集まりをつくったのです。韓国では、既に成功しています。今 後、韓国と日本と台湾を中心として、世界的に「世界平和教授アカデミー」が結成されるでしょう。

2     「世界平和教授アカデミー」の名で、「広場」という月刊誌を作っています。これを全世界の大学に発送したので、韓国でこのような運動を行っていることを、 既に名のある教授たちはみな知っています。ですから、アジアで著名な教授たちを糾合し、「アジア平和教授アカデミー」を発起さえすれば、これがヨーロッパ にも連結されるのです。それだけでなく、アメリカの東部と西部の重鎮となる教授たちを、「世界平和教授アカテミー」の核心要員にすることができます。この 人たちは、お金を払っても心を動かせる人たちではありません。

このように、世界的に組織を編成して、何をするのでしょうか。父母様はこの「世界平和教授アカデミー」を中心として、ノーベル賞受賞制度のような制度をつくる計画をしています。ノーベル賞以上の賞金を設定して、世界記録を破る表彰制度をつくろうとしているのです。

3     世界を動かすのは、学者たちです。政治家たちが動かすのではありません。その国の政策を樹立するすべての分野で、主導的な頭脳の役割を果たす人は、有名な 教授や学者たちです。その国の政策を遂行する人たちは、彼らの頭脳によってつくられたプログラムに合わせる人々なのです。

学者と大学生を見れば、学者たちは先頭に立ち、大学生たちはこの時代の後ろに立っています。彼らを連結させてこそ、中枢になります。背骨です。です から、今まで統一教会は、反対を受けても彼らを連結させようとしました。ところが、そうするのは簡単なことではありません。ましてや、統一教会を指導して いるお父様が世界的に論争の対象になっているので、彼らを連結させるというのは、簡単なことではないのです。

そのようなことを見ながら、私はアメリカで活動する将来のことを考えたのです。このことは、お金があるからといってできることではなく、それこそ、精誠を尽くして世界を愛する心をもたなければ、できないのです。

4     人間個人の体と心が分かれることにより、人類歴史はサタンの版図と天の版図に分離され、闘争の歴史を経てきました。個人から分かれて、家庭、氏族、民族 が、歴史時代を経てきながら数多くの戦争をしたのです。歴史的に見るとき、宗教圏と政治圏が争ってきましたが、いつも政治圏が宗教圏を打ちました。また、 科学世界と宗教圏が争ってきましたが、科学世界がいつも宗教圏を打ってきました。しかし、父母様の時代には、政治圏と宗教圏、また、科学世界と宗教圏の一 体を成し遂げなければなりません。ですから、父母様が世界の学者たちを糾合してきたのです。

今まで科学者たちと宗教圏が、怨讐になっていました。これを統一しようとすればまず世界の学者たちを糾合しなければなりません。ですから、「科学の 統一に関する国際会議」と「世界平和教授アカデミー」を編成したのです。これらの学者と統一教会が一つにならなければなりません。そうしてこそ、宗教圏と 政治圏が統一されるのです。

5     私たちは、学界を収拾しなければなりません。学界を収拾するために、「科学の統一に関する国際会議」を開催してきました。この会議は、世界的な学者を一つ にまとめるための、唯一の集まりになりました。また、世界の有名な学者たちを中心として、国家と国家を連結する「世界平和教授アカデミー」があります。二 重作戦を行うのです。

世界的な一つのモデル型と国家的な一つのモデル型をつくることによって、国家的に成果のある人は、世界に行くことができるようになります。世界に進 出できる道が開かれるのです。世界の有名な学術機関に影響を与えることのできる足場を整えようというのです。ノーベル賞受賞者を選定するときにも、私たち が背後で推薦します。頂上の位置に上がっていけるように支援するのです。

6     私たちが「科学の統一に関する国際会議」を主導しているので、教授たちに「このような世界的教授アカデミーがあるので、あなたたちもここに加入してくださ い」と言えば、嫌だとは言いません。そうすれば、世界の十ヵ国なら十ヵ国の科学界の重鎮と手を結ぶことができます。

教授アカデミーに世界的な学者たちを加入させなければなりません。今後、アジアから始めて、世界の学者たちを教授アカデミーに連結させるためです。 世界的な教授たちを一つに束ねてあげれば、今後の世界のために世界政策を樹立したり多方面の専門分野で世界的に影響を及ぼしたりすることができるのです。

そのようにするために、分野別に世界にない刊行物を作ろうというのです。そうして、経済分野、農業分野、科学分野など、各分野の雑誌は世界的に有名 な人々が作るので、世界的に知られるようになっています。今後の世界政策を決定するときに影響を及ぼすことのできる、首脳部のようなものをつくっておこう というのです。

7     世界的な教授アカデミーを構成するようになれば、その名声が広く知られることになるでしょう。そのようになれば、どこに行っても私たちの基盤があるので、 そのような人々を招請し、巡回教授団をつくろうと考えています。一つの大学だけで講義していてはいけないというのです。世界的に有名な大学を中心として、 六ヵ月であれば六ヵ月間、巡回講演をさせます。その費用は、私たちが出そうというのです。このように世界的な巡回教授団をつくって、世界を一周させます。

そのようにしたあとは、どこの大学に行っても、関わりのある学者や学生たちが関心をもって押し寄せてくるでしょう。有名な人の主管のもとで学位をも らえば、その門下生たちも世界的に有名な人になるのです。そうして、約五、六年後に、一回りしながら学位を与えるようにするのです。このようになれば、こ の大学にノーベル賞を受賞した教授をはじめ、専門家たちが押し寄せるようになっています。

8     今後、世界的な教授アカデミーをつくって、約五百人の教授たちが大韓民国に入ってきたとすれば、大学が動くようになります。

これから私たちが世界的な大学を造れば、教授アカデミーから推戴を受けた世界的な大学教授たちを、私たちの学校に連れてくるのです。そのようにし て、世界的な碩学たちを一ヵ所に集中させれば、世界的な大学になります。そうして、その大学を動かし、社会制度がそこに相対的な基盤を備えるようになれ ば、この国は世界的な文化国家になるのです。アメリカが近代に世界的な主導権を握るようになったのは、世界的な人材を抱くことのできる大学があったからで す。そのような大学が民主世界で主導的な役割を果たせる人材を育て、各国で長官や局長になるようにしたので、アメリカが世界的な主導国になったというので す。

9     アメリカで大学を包摂するための間接的作戦を行うために、「世界平和教授アカデミー」をつくりました。この平和教授アカデミーを日本にもつくり、台湾にも つくったのですが、それをなぜつくったのか分かりますか。世界的にこの平和教授アカデミーを連結させ、今後、世界大学連盟をつくろうと考えています。世界 的な大学を建てて、国際的な人材を養成しようとしているのです。

10    「世界平和教授アカデミー」をつくる時のエピソードがたくさんあります。当時、情報当局では、「政府の力で総力を注いで動いても十三人の教授しか集まらな かったのに、文某が教授アカデミーをつくるというのか」と言いました。それで、私は、「彼らは、大韓民国という国家的見地からそれをするが、私はアジア的 見地からするのだ」と言ったのです。

それを準備するために、多くの人々が縦横に往来する基盤をすべて備え、韓国で「世界平和教授アカデミー」の編成を始めました。その次に、日本までは 可能でしたが、アメリカはその当時、まだ基盤ができていませんでした。それで、アメリカを中心として「科学の統一に関する国際会議」を足場にして、ヨー ロッパ諸国で「世界平和教授アカデミー」を段階的に編成したのです。

11    教授の皆さんは、「世界平和教授アカデミー」に籍を置いています。その間、多くの迫害も受け、ありとあらゆる困難な環境を経て働いてくださったことを、有 り難く思います。しかし、それで終わってはいけません。今から、韓国を代表する学者たちを日本の学者たちと連結させる運動をしなければならないのですが、 学者たちがそれをしなければなりません。日本がその運動をする段階に入り、アメリカがその段階に入り、イギリスがその段階に入ってきました。ですから、こ れを早急に連結させて、韓国を救い、共産陣営から防備しなければなりません。

このような巨大な連結体をつくり、韓国が今後行くべき道、すなわち南北統一をしてアジア諸国に影響を及ぼせる領域を標準として動かなければなりませ ん。そのようにするために、学者たちが動員され、経済人たちが動員され、政治家たちが動員され、各分野が動員されて、結集できる基盤を編成しなければなり ません。それは、学者たちしかできないのです。

12    韓国最高の知性と権威をもった学者の皆さんは、今や、この国が進む方向を教示してあげなければなりません。そのために研究をしなければならないのですが、 個人の研究時代は過ぎ去りました。これからはグループ研究時代です。それも、国家内のグループ研究時代は過ぎ去り、アジアの学者たちを糾合したグループ研 究時代、ひいては世界の学者たちを中心としたグループ研究時代が到来したのです。このような方向を備えなければ、世界に方向を教示できる道がありません。

ですから、大韓民国の風土ではできません。アメリカが絶対に必要だというのです。このような背後の基盤を築くために、私が韓国人の一人として、この ようなことをしたのです。このような事実は夢のような話ですが、私は天意によって今後の世界が行くべき方向性をはっきりと知ったので、そこに少しでも役に 立てることを願いながら努力してみると、このような結果が成し遂げられたのです。これは、全世界の知識人たちが一つになってすべきことです。

13    「世界平和教授アカデミー」を中心として、アジアの学者たちが力を合わせれば、アジアを代表する新しい百科事典であろうと何であろうと、作ることができま す。ですから、多方面でやることが多いというのです。そのような意味で、教授の皆さんが一心同体になって協助できるなら、微力ながら私のもてる力を尽くし て、皆さんの背中を押そうと考えています。

皆さんがそのような研究をするためには、研究室や会館も必要でしょう。ですから、私がそれを用意しようと考えています。しかし、皆さんはアジア的な 主体性に責任をもつことができるでしょうか。日本の教授たちを教育することのできる、その何かをもっているのかというのです。ですから、「統一思想」や 「統一原理」などをまず準備しなさいというのです。そうすれば、彼らを完全にリードしていくことができるのです。

14    今、一番問題になっているのが、二世です。二世、大学生たちを収拾しなければなりません。大学を収拾しなければならないというのです。これをしなければな りません。それで、私が教授たちを連れてきたのです。今や、世界の大学を指導する人々を、国家体制を中心として、南北統一の時代が来る際には、先頭に立た せなければなりません。彼らが先頭に立たなければならないのです。

二世をつかみ、お父様のように涙を流して、南北統一の思想を共有するのです。それで、私がその基地を教会につくってあげます。面の責任者になって、 そこにいる中学・高等学校と小学校の先生たちを前にして、涙を流しながら愛国思想を植えてあげなさいというのです。そのようにすれば、南北統一は問題あり ません。

教育を受けた人々が行って、郷里を整理しなければなりません。郷土がない人はいません。ですから、郷土学校をつくって、今からこのことをしていくのです。

これは、一時的にやったり、興味本位でやったりしていくことではありません。摂理観に合わせてしているのです。

教えてもらって、蕩減復帰歴史を進めるのではありません。私一人で進めてきたのです。私が理解し、そのようにするので、神様が協叻したというのです。偶然になったのではありません。

15    大学教授たちを中心として、全国の大学を動かし、教授を動かさなければなりません。また、地方の中学・高等学校を動かさなければなりません。その次に、小 学校を動かさなければなりません。共産勢力が左翼色を帯びた教材を中心として学校に浸透してくるのを、今までは放置してきました。教育当局が責任を果たせ なかったというのです。ですから、何としてでも地方で大学の総長を動かさなければならず、中学・高等学校の校長を動かさなければならず、小学校の校長を動 かさなければなりません。

環境的に誰の制裁も受けず、自由に動ける権限をもっている人が教授です。お父様が統と班に郷土学校をつくったのは、この運動のためです。郷土を愛そ うというのです。愛国は郷土から始まります。ですから、郷土学校を造って、かわいそうな人々を教育しなさいというのです。自分の血と肉が愛国心に燃えるの ならば、夜を明かして村のかわいそうな人々を抱き、涙を流して教育しなさいというのです。

Chambumo Gyeong - 416. The purpose of PWPA

True Parents established the Professors World Peace Academy (PWPA) with world-renowned scholars in order to support research and activities for building a peaceful world. The inauguration of PWPA was held on May 6, 1973 with 163 professors who were connected through Divine Principle workshops for professors and through the activities of the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP). PWPA has branch offices in almost every country and has hosted various world peace-related seminars and conferences. PWPA members interact and cooperate under the theme "academic contributions to world peace." On January 21, 1986 under the direction of True Parents, PWPA opened a number of local rural-area schools in Korea to assist in educating underprivileged youth. 
 
1 Pursuing the unity of the sciences, we invited professors from all over the world to annual conferences. You cannot imagine how much attention that attracted. In the beginning we were criticized, but now scholars say, "Reverend Moon deals with genuinely serious problems indeed." Having reached this stage we continue to advance. My thinking has been that, no matter what, we have to bring professors together. Carrying out this strategy to achieve this purpose in Korea, I formed the Professors World Peace Academy saying, "Although professors around the world cannot function as peace activists, they can at least stand in the vanguard for peace by showing us the proper direction through their thinking and writing in their various fields." This has been successful in Korea. In the future, we will form the PWPA in Korea, Japan and China. (071-175, 1974/04/30)
 
2 We distributed the Professors World Peace Academy monthly magazine Gwangjang (Public Square) to universities around the world; therefore, famous professors everywhere now know of this Korean organization. Through this we will be able to gather distinguished professors from Asia, who can become the Asian Professors Peace Academy. This academy can then connect to Europe as well. Moreover, professors from all over the United States will form the core of the PWPA leadership. Money cannot buy such people; they are priceless. What will we do after we form this worldwide organization? True Parents' plan is that the activities of PWPA will be the basis for an institution similar to the Nobel Prize Committee. I would like to establish an award foundation with prizes greater than the Nobel Prize, thus becoming the most prestigious of all prizes. (071-176, 1974/04/30)
 
3 It is not so much politicians as it is scholars who influence the world. Professors and scholars are the true creators of national policy. They serve as leaders in all fields. Politicians depend on scholars' thinking, and base their programs on their theories. Take a look at scholars and university students— scholars are in the forefront and students follow. They need to be connected to us as the nucleus or in a sense, the spine.

Even though the Unification Church was persecuted, we tried to connect with scholars. However, this work is not easy. It is difficult to connect with them, especially since as the leader of the Unification Church I have become an object of global controversy. While experiencing this I have been thinking about our upcoming activities in America. The success of this work does not depend on money. It depends on pouring out our most sincere devotion with a heart that loves the world. (095-205, 1977/12/04)
 
4 Due to the disunity of mind and body in human beings, history has been a long battle between God's dominion and Satan's. This division on the individual level has expanded to the levels of family, tribe and race, producing endless wars. From the historical viewpoint, the religious and political realms fought, and the political realm always struck the religious side. Also, when the scientific and religious realms fought, it was always the scientific world that struck the religious realm. However, with the dawn of the Parents' era, the political, scientific and religious worlds must unite and become one. Until now, scientists and religious people were enemies. In order to unite them, we must first gather the scholars of the world. This is why I formed the International Conference on the Unity of the Sciences and the Professors World Peace Academy. These scholars need to work together with the Unification Church. Only then can the worlds of religion and politics be united. (215-065, 1991/02/06)
 
5 We need to bring the academic world into harmony. In order to do that, we have been hosting the ICUS. This is the only conference that brings world-renowned scholars together transcending disciplines. Also there is the PWPA, which connects countries to each other through internationally-known scholars. This is a double-layered strategy. We will establish a national model and a worldwide model, then we will help those who are successful in their nations to move up to the world level. We are opening the door for them to go out into the world. This is a foothold that can influence world-class academic institutions. We are also making nominations and recommendations for the selection of Nobel Prize awardees. We support scholars in achieving their highest aspirations. (209-245, 1990/11/30)
 
6 On the foundation of the ICUS, when we invite participants to join the Professors World Peace Academy, they accept. Then, if we have representatives from ten nations, we can cooperate with the leading scientific communities in those ten nations. We must guide scholars worldwide to join the PWPA. We need to start in Asia and expand and connect to the scholars of the world. The day we unite global professors into one, we will be able to establish global policies for the world s future and carry out work that can have a global influence in various professional fields.

In order to do this, let us create publications in each field that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Our magazines pertaining to each field, whether it be economics, agriculture or science, will be published by people who are well-known around the world and will gain global renown. Let us develop the intellectual resources that can have a good influence on global policy decision-making. (062-296, 1972/09/26)
 
7 When we succeed in establishing the PWPA on the world level, it will become well-known everywhere. Wherever we go, we will have a foundation. Based on that, I am planning to invite renowned scholars and create a touring team of professors. They should not give lectures in one university only. Rather, they will go to famous universities all over the world and conduct six-month-long lecture tours. We will provide their salaries. In this way, we will make a global team of professors who will tour the world. Then after that, whichever university you go to, scholars and students who have been connected to this will continue their interest, and come in droves. If a student receives a degree under the supervision of a famous professor, then that student will also become famous worldwide. I will make it so that after five or six years the students under these professors receive their higher degrees. When this happens, we will be able to gather experts, from these universities, including professors who are Nobel laureates. (062-298, 1972/09/26)
 
8 In the future, when we establish the PWPA, and 500 professors come to Korea to participate, the university campuses of Korea will be turned around. If we come to build a global university, we will bring in world-class university professors who have been selected by the PWPA. We can create a global, internationally renowned university by bringing together world-class scholars in one place. When we can energize this university to create a theoretical foundation for a social system, then this country Korea will develop a global culture.

The reason America has achieved worldwide supremacy is because it has universities that can attract and educate the world s most talented individuals. The universities in the US nurture talented individuals who go on to take leading roles in the democratic world. Students are educated to become ministers and heads of state in each nation. 9 The Professors World Peace Academy is part of a plan to win over the university campuses in America. I also established PWPA in Japan and Taiwan. Do you know why I launched this organization? By establishing PWPA chapters worldwide, I would like to create a global confederation of universi ties. My hope is to establish a global university and train talented people from all over the world. 10 When we originally convened the PWPA, Korean intelligence officials mocked us saying, "Although they mobilized all their energies, and even with the power of the government behind them, they could not gather more than 13 professors. And yet Mr. Moon calls this the PWPA?" So I told them, "You are seeing this from a national viewpoint, that of the Republic of Korea. But I am doing this from the perspective of Asia."

Many people worked hard on all fronts in order to prepare the foundation to launch the PWPA, and based on that foundation it could be started in Korea. Afterward, it was possible to form the PWPA in Japan, but at that time we did not have a foundation to do so in the United States. Therefore, through the International Conference on the Unity of the Sciences as a stepping-stone in America, we gradually could establish the PWPA in various countries in Europe. 11 You have Joined the Professors World Peace Academy. I am grateful for the work you have done despite the difficult environment and strong persecution. However, your work should not stop here. You need to develop activities to connect with Korean and Japanese academics. You professors are the ones who can do this. The time has come for Japan to start such a movement, and for scholars in America and Great Britain to do the same. You should make these connections as soon as possible. It is to save Korea and defend it from the communist regime.

We need to create this great interconnected body of professors to pave the way that Korea must go—the way to realize the unification of North and South Korea. This body of professors must mobilize and become a powerful influence on Asia. We need to make a foundation to assemble scholars, businessmen, politicians, and leaders from every field and inspire them to work together for this cause. No one but you scholars can do this job. 12 You are the most intelligent and authoritative scholars in Korea, and now you must teach this country the direction it must go. For that purpose, you need to do research. But, the era of individual research has passed—this is now the era of team research. In addition, the era of team research carried out within the boundaries of one nation has also passed. It is now the era for Asia's scholars to rally and research together. It is the time when scholars of the world can engage in shared research. Without doing this there is no way to lead the direction of the world. Therefore, scholars from the Republic of Korea alone are not enough. Scholars from America are absolutely needed too. As a Korean, I have been working in this way in order to prepare this foundation behind the scenes. This may seem like a dream, but I achieved this unimaginable outcome because I understood clearly the direction that the world should take according to God's Will. 13 If all Asian scholars rally and work together under the PWPA, they can create a new encyclopedia, or any other type of learning that can represent Asia. That is why there is much work to be done in all fields. Therefore, if you as professors can unite in mind and heart and cooperate, then I will contribute with all my strength to support you. In order to do your research, you will need a research office and meeting hall. Therefore, I am thinking of preparing such a facility. However, can you lead such an effort across Asia? Do you have what it takes to educate Japanese professors? That is why I am telling you to first prepare yourselves by studying Unification Thought and the Principle. 14 The young generation is the main issue. We must save the university students, the younger generation. I am talking about saving the university campuses. You must do this. That is why I have been working with the professors. From now on, those who are leading on world-level university campuses in the national system will have to stand on the front line when the time to unite North and South Korea comes. You must stand at the forefront. You have to hold on to the new generation, shed tears for them as I do, and share with them the idea of the unification of Korea. I will establish the church as the basis for such activities.

Those who are responsible for towns should hold on to the elementary, middle and high school teachers while shedding tears and planting patriotism in their hearts. Then the unification of Korea will be no problem. Those who have received this patriotic training should go to communities and neighborhoods. Everyone has a hometown. For this reason, I set up neighborhood schools in rural areas in order to carry out this work. I am not doing this for fun or as a temporary effort. This is in accordance with the providential plan. It is not because I was taught that I am leading the providence of restoration through indemnity; it is something I have been doing by myself. This is why God cooperates with me. 15 We have to start by first mobilizing professors, and then their university campuses nationwide. Furthermore, we have to mobilize the local, middle and high schools. Next we must mobilize the elementary schools. Until now, we have not done anything to stop the communists from penetrating into the schools, which they did through their textbooks filled with leftist ideology. The Ministry of Education failed in its responsibility. That is why, no matter how we do it, we must mobilize the presidents of local universities and the principals of elementary, middle and high schools. The professors are the ones with the authority to move around and speak without restriction. I created the local schools in rural areas in order to strengthen this movement. Let us love our hometowns. Patriotism starts from one's hometown. That is why we have built these local schools to educate underprivileged people. If the spirit of patriotism burns in a professor's heart, he or she should go to their hometown, stay up all night shedding tears and educating and embracing these underprivileged people.
