Bible Reading - Proverbs 13:1~12

13:1 A wise son heeds his father's instruction,

지혜로운 아들은 아버지의 지시에 주의를 기울이지만

but a mocker does not listen to rebuke. 조롱하는 자는 꾸지람을 듣지 않는다.

13:2 From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things,

사람은 입술의 열매로 좋은 것을 즐기지만 

but the unfaithful have a craving for violence.불성실한 사람은 폭력에 갈증을 느낀다.

13:3 He who guards his lips guards his life, 입술을 지키는 자는 그의 생명을 지키지만

but he who speaks rashly(성급하게) will come to ruin. 성급하게 말하는 자는 망할 것이다.

13:4 The sluggard craves and gets nothing, 게으른 자는 탐하되 얻지 못하지만

but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied. 근면한 자의 열망은 완전히 만족될 것이다.

13:5 The righteous hate what is false, 의로운 자는 거짓된 것을 미워하지만

but the wicked bring shame and disgrace. 악한 자는 부끄럼과 수치를 가져온다.

13:6 Righteousness guards the man of integrity(진실함), 의는 진실한 사람을 보호하지만

but wickedness overthrows(뒤집어 엎다) the sinner. 악은 죄인을 무너뜨린다.

13:7 One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing;

어떤 사람은 부유한 것처럼 가장하지만 아무 것도 없고

another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.

어떤 사람은 가난한 것처럼 가장하지만 큰 부를 가지고 있다.

13:8 A man's riches may ransom his life, 사람의 부유함은 그의 생명을 구할 수 있으나 

but a poor man hears no threat. 가난한 자는 위협을 듣지 못한다.

13:9 The light of the righteous shines brightly, 의인의 빛은 밝게 빛나지만

but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out(꺼져버리다).악인의 등불은 꺼져버린다.

13:10 Pride only breeds(번식하다. 일으키다) quarrels, 교만함은 다툼만 일으킬 뿐이나

but wisdom is found in those who take advice.지혜는 충고를 받아들이는 자에게 발견된다.

13:11 Dishonest money dwindles away(점점 사라져가다), 부정직한 돈은 점점 줄어들지만

but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow. 조금씩 돈을 모으는 사람은 돈을 늘린다.

13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, 미루어진 희망은 마음을 아프게 하지만

but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. 충족된 열망은 생명의 나무이다.
