I am surprised to learn how much aesthetics mattered to Darwin. Beauty must be loved by nature to be found so often-perhaps he was a romantic at heart, bound by the sentiments of his time, as expressed in the poetry of his contemporaries Coleridge, Keats, and Clare. To a poet or artist it is comforting to hear that the greatest of all biologists with the most revolutionary theory should accept that beauty and taste are essential for evolution to proceed. Chalk one up for culture, in both animals and man.

위 문장을 보고 이런 번역도 괜찮겠다고 생각이 들었습니다 : "보라, 문화를! 동물에게도 인간에게도 들어있구나!" / biology라고 언급하신 것은 저 문장에서 animals에 해당할 겁니다. culture와 경쟁하고 있는 것은 아니라고 생각되네요.
