<Morning Words>  

Stack up: stack as a noun is a large pile, so to ‘stack up things’ is to put one thing on top of another and another on top of another, and the pile is getting higher and higher, to accumulate > 쌓이다, 쌓아 올리다

Beat up: to beat is to hit, so to ‘beat up something or someone’ is to hit and defeat that person or thing > 흠씬 두들겨 패다

Patch up: noun patch is that kind of a solution to a problem, you can imagine if you have a hole in your clothing, a hole in a tier, what do you do? You fix it, you cover it, so the verb ‘patch up’ fix or repair a hole to mend something, so patch up is fix things > (불화 등을) 수습하다, 고치다

Oh Jake, I feel bad. I’m going to have to fess up here. Last night, sorry to say, I beat up Gil-dong.
