B: I don't know, but apparently, they believe early exposure is key to language acquisition.

A: Yeah, I guess, but I wonder if it's too much for the kids.

B: I agree. My sister used to do that to her kids, and they ended up losing interest in English.

A: Oh, no, so it backfired.

A: 요즘 어떤 엄마들은 아이들에게 몇 시간 동안 계속 영어를 듣게한다. 그런 게 효과가 있을까?

B: 잘 모르겠지만, 확실히 그 엄마들은 아이들을 일찍 영어에 노출시키는 게 언어 습득에 필수적이라고 믿는 거겠지.

A: 응, 그런 것 같아. 하지만 그건 아이들에게 좀 지나친 게 아닌가 싶더라.

B: 나도 그렇게 생각해. 우리 누나도 전에 아이들에게 그렇게 했어. 그런데 결국 아이들이 영어에 대한 흥미를 잃게 되더라고.

A: 저런, 그러니까 그게 역효과를 가져왔구나.
