삼성전자와 SK 하이닉스는 다음 주 발표를 기다릴 뿐 조치를 취할 일이 많지않아 보입니다.

WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday his administration will unveil tariffs on semiconductor imports as early as next week, as South Korean tech firms Samsung Electronics Co. and SK hynix Inc. have been carefully watching his tariff policy developments.
워싱턴 — 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령은 금요일 한국 기술 기업인 삼성전자와 SK하이닉스가 그의 관세정책 동향을 면밀히 주시하고 있는 가운데, 이르면 다음 주에 반도체 수입품에 대한 관세를 공개할 것이라고 밝혔다.
 
 
Trump made the remarks in a meeting with reporters aboard Air Force One, as he was en route to Alaska for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin -- the high-stakes meeting where Trump is seeking to broker a halt to the war in Ukraine.
트럼프는 우크라이나 전쟁 중단을 중재하기 위해 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령과의 회담을 위해 알래스카로 향하던 중 에어포스원에 탑승한 기자들과 만난 자리에서 이 같은 발언을 했다.
 
"Chips and semiconductors, we'll be setting sometime next week, (or) the week after," Trump said, according to a White House press pool report.
백악관 언론 풀 보도에 따르면 트럼프 대통령은 "칩과 반도체는 다음 주, 또는 그 다음 주 중에 설정될 것"이라고 말했다.
 
He did not elaborate on the exact tariff rate, but said there would be a tariff increase from a "lower" rate to a "very high" rate.
그는 정확한 관세율에 대해서는 자세히 설명하지 않았지만, 관세가 "낮은" 세율에서 "매우 높은" 세율로 인상될 것이라고 말했다.
 
"Well, I'm going to have a rate that is going to be lower at the beginning. Then that gives them a chance to come in and build. And very high after a certain period of time," he said.
"처음에는 관세율이 낮아질 것입니다. 그러면 그들이 들어와서 건설할 수 있는 기회가 주어진다. 그리고 일정 기간이 지나면 매우 높아진다."라고 그는 말했다.
 
"And if they don't build here, they have to pay a very high tariff."

Last week, Trump said his administration will impose a tariff of about 100 percent on chips, as he is pushing to strengthen semiconductor production in the U.S.
지난주 트럼프 대통령은 미국 내 반도체 생산을 강화하기 위해 자신의 행정부가 칩에 약 100%의 관세를 부과할 것이라고 말했다.
 
To impose the tariffs, Trump has invoked Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, a law that provides the president with the authority to adjust imports into the U.S. when he determines they threaten national security.
관세를 부과하기 위해 트럼프는 1962년 무역확장법 232조를 발동했는데, 이 법은 대통령이 미국으로의 수입이 국가 안보를 위협한다고 판단할 때 이를 조정할 수 있는 권한을 부여한다.
