CARP End of the Semester Party
To celebrate the completion of the Fall semester, CARP Las Vegas hosted their End of the Semester party on December 15th, 2017. Students, professors/faculty, and friends that have touched so many lives in CARP, have come together for this event. Over ninety people attended, including the National CARP president, Teresa Rischl. The night began with a sharing within their tables of the highlight of the semester. Afterwards, they ate a bountiful meal of various foods from the potluck dinner. People are cheerfully, tasting many different flavors from all different cultures.
The main program began with an offering song, given by Angelica Moraes and her professor, Mrs. Jobelle who sang a song of peace, emphasizing that it begins with each one of us. A video presentation followed, highlighting all the activities that have happened in CARP since last summer and also recognizing all the people that have supported them through it. Then, CSN CARP president, Chungbom Katayama shared an introduction of what CARP is about. He said, “If you want to know what CARP is about, just look around.” He was saying how CARP is made up of true love and that we can realize what that is by seeing the substance of it within the venue. Following the CARP introduction were three testimonies given by people who met CARP for the first time this semester. First was from, Pastor Sandra Blake-Toles, who testified to Rev. Moon for his sincerity in fighting for God’s will, and substantially seeing that through the CARP students. Next was given by a student named, Ivan Camacho who shared how much the Divine Principle studies have been helping him discover what is true in his life. Another student, Shaniece Hicks shared her journey, coming from a Christian background, but ever since starting Divine Principle study, her understanding of God became a lot more real to her. Much of the audience were touched to hear experiences of the speakers, especially their own families. Finally, an award ceremony was given to congratulate graduates and recognized individuals of the semester. Joan Batayola was awarded for her dedication of countless hours in creating the video presentation. Kobe Neuhaus, a student who’ll be graduating from UNLV, was recognized for not just finishing his years in college, but for fighting through the challenges in his life such as having hearing disabilities, and becoming the person he wants to be. The evening closed with singing “Silent Night” all together, and a final group photo. The event was successful to its name, closing the semester merrily, altogether.
