심리학자/상담학자 정신과의사

스위스 정신과 의사이며, 분석심리학의 창시자. 일찍이 단어연상 검사 연구로 콤플렉스의 개념을 정립했고, '조발성 치매(정신분열증)'의 심리적 이해와 치료를 처음으로 시도했다. 한대 프로이트의 정신분석 활동에 적극 참여했으나 그의 성욕 중심설에 이의를 제기하여 독자적인 학설을 내세워 분석심리학이라 불렀다. 융은 인간의 무의식에 억압된 충동뿐 아니라 인간 행동의 가장 원초적이며 보편적인 유형을 갖추고 있으며 모든 정신활동의 원천으로 그 속에는 마음의 분열을 지양하고 통일된 마음을 실현하도록 촉진시키는 자가 조정의 중심핵이 작동하고 있다고 했다. 융은 수많은 사람의 꿈과 환상을 방대한 신화,민담,종교적 표상 등과 비교 연구함으로써 이것을 증명했다.
