Their repertoire is influenced by many styles of music; the musicians speak for themselves. What started out in 2003 as an experiment , the group turned out to be a huge success! Besides playing the music of a.o. Astor Piazzolla, Ernesto Nazareth and Juan Carlos Cobian, the quintet writes a lot of its own repertoire. Also other composers and arrangers have been hired to put their personal touch on the music. As the musicians of QTE are from different backgrounds in the musical world, their music obtained something movable, a sound of their own was created. A mixture of Classic, Gypsy, Jazz and Brazilian music comes into play, but in every piece the Tango has been taken as the starting point or Tango serves as the basis. <o:p></o:p>  <o:p></o:p> Performing an amazingly rich beautiful musical duels, Quinteto Tango Extremo has touched the hearts of many around the world. The young violinist Tanya Schaap has been performing with an unusual but captivating occupation, regarding the accordion and soprano saxophone.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Passionate violin and soprano parties make you feel like you are the main character in your own play. What makes it surprisingly fresh and even more captivating, is the blending of the sensuous tango music with jazz, touching classical music and energetic Brazilian elements. Quinteto Tango Extremo shows that tango means living, means dancing, means shadow sides in the sun. Tango, the game of hide and seek. Of distrust and believing.<o:p></o:p>   연주자들 소개: The musicians  <o:p></o:p> These musicians belong to the major league of the classical, Latin and jazz fields.  Violinist Tanya Schaap studied with Dutch Bandoneonist Carel Kraayenhof and with Fernando Suarez Paz, the violinist of the Astor Piazzolla's Quinteto Tango Nuevo. Saxophonist Ben van den Dungen is already for more than twenty years one of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on">Europe</st1:place>'s top Jazz- and Latin musicians. Ben has musically always taken a very wide stand, has had an eclectic background, having played in several latino orchestras i.e. Nueva Manteca and The Cubop City Big Band, and has recently travelled to India to focus on the Indian music. <o:p></o:p> Furthermore the quintet exists out of the jazz educated Anna Elis on the piano. She is the musical force behind some very successful Brazilian bands in the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Netherlands</st1:place></st1:country-region>, like "Canta Brasil" and "Anna Elis". The accordionist Hans van der Maas is a man with many faces: graduated musicologist, conductor, composer and accordionist. He teaches at the Koorenhuis, a centre for the performing arts in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">The Hague</st1:City></st1:place> in The Netherlands. The Belgian jazz bassist Luc van Gestel has been active for years in the Belgian Jazz scene.
