(No, they don't own the church)

God! Thank You for giving me this message. This church belongs to You. Jesus is the head of the church. I am part of the church. I will obey You, the owner of the church.

Bible Story

Pastor: Do you know who is the owner of the church?

All: Who is the Head of the church?

Pastor: Many people believe that the pastor is the head of the church.

All: Some claim that elders are the owners of the church.

Pastor: Others say that the laity is the true owner of the church.

All: But all these claims are wrong. The head of the church is Jesus Christ.

Pastor: The church forms one body. Jesus is the Head of that body.

All: All other church members are parts of that body.

Pastor: The parts of the body do what the Head commands.

All: Otherwise, the body cannot stand. We must obey what Jesus, our Head, commands.

Questions? 

1. Who is the owner of the church?

(Jesus Christ is the owner of the church)

2. What are all other church members?

(They are parts of one body)

3. What do the parts of the body do?

(We do what the Head commands)

4. What must we obey?

(We must do what Jesus commands)

Lessons!   

Who is the Owner of the church?

Hey! How are you doing? Are you enjoying your vacation now? Are you getting lazy? Do you miss your school life? Do you miss your friends?

I have a question for you. Do you know who the owner of the church is? Yes! God is the Owner of the church. Then, Do you know who the head of the church is? Yes! Jesus Christ is the Head of the church. Can anybody or anything be the head of the church? No way!

Have you ever visit some place sin your vacation? Where are you planning on going this summer? I have visited many places last week. I almost toured the whole Korea. I visited many churches which endured hardship and persecution by the Japanese or the communists of North Korea.

강경 church and 57 kids.

One of churches which I was impressed with is 강경 church. 57 elementary kids with one teacher confessed that Jesus is the Head of the church. They were very little and young. They were against the Japanese. October 11th, 1924 teacher 김 복희 and 57 kids did not allow any idol or any gods except Jesus Christ.

Who is the owner of your life?

Today can you confess the same faith, just as the 57 kids proclaimed? Even though they were young, they did not bow down to idols. They didn't follow any gods. They didn't give up their faith because of swords and guns. They were as little as all of you. They were elementary kids, but they showed that the owner of their life was Jesus Christ. They did not follow the pattern of the world.

Many people, even pastors and elders, worshiped idols. They disobeyed God. They gave up their faith. However, the little kids held the faith that Jesus is the Owner of their life.

Are you a faithful child? Then, don't bow down to games, pop songs, and worldly things. Maybe, you say to yourselves or others. I am little and young. Don't you know that Daniel, Samuel, Timothy were young but faithful to God? It is not a matter of age, but a matter of faith.

Don't please the king of the world, Satan! Don't go with evil persons! Don't be addicted to worldly things! Remember God! Turn from evil things and come back to God from your childhood.

God wants to see that Jesus is the Head of your life.

Let's pray!

God! I confess that God is the Owner of the church. Even You are the Owner of my life. Jesus is the Head of my life. Let me confess this faith in the world. Don't let me follow the world or the pattern of the world. I am free and I will set my heart on You.

I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
