The ruling and opposition parties on Tuesday sparred over President Lee Jae Myung's appearance on a TV cooking show amid criticism that it was not appropriate to appear on an entertainment program amid a fire-caused outage of online government services.
화요일 여야는 화재로 인한 온라인 정부 서비스 중단으로 인해 예능 프로그램에 출연하는 것이 적절하지 않다는 비판 속에서 이재명 대통령의 TV 요리 프로그램 출연을 두고 공방을 벌였다.
 
 
Late last month, Lee and first lady Kim Hea Kyung took part in a special broadcast of JTBC's cooking show "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" in a bid to promote Korean foods. The cable TV channel aired the recording of the episode on Monday night, this year's Chuseok fall harvest holiday.
지난달 말, 이 대통령과 영부인 김혜경씨는 한식을 알리기 위해 JTBC 요리 프로그램 '냉장고를 부탁해'의 특별 방송에 참여했다. 케이블 TV 채널은 올해 추석 가을 추수감사절인 월요일 밤에 이 에피소드의 녹화를 방영했다.
 
The ruling Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) defended Lee's appearance as well-suited to promote K-foods, while the main opposition People Power Party (PPP) insisted Lee's appearance on a TV entertainment show was not appropriate in the midst of the outage of online government services caused by last month's fire at a state data center.
여당인 더불어민주당(DPK)은 지난달 국가 데이터센터 화재로 인한 온라인 정부 서비스 중단 사태 속에서 이 대통령의 K-푸드 홍보에 적합하다고 주장한 반면, 제1야당인 국민의힘(PPP)은 이 후보의 TV 예능 출연이 적절하지 않다고 주장했다.
 
"Lee's appearance on the TV show was aimed at promoting K-foods to the world and facilitating exports of Korean cuisine," Rep. Boo Seung-chan, spokesperson for the DPK, said in a written briefing.
민주당 대변인 부승찬 의원은 서면 브리핑에서 "이 대통령의 TV 쇼 출연은 K-푸드를 세계에 알리고 한식 수출을 촉진하기 위한 것"이라고 말했다.
 
He called on the PPP and its leader Jang Dong-hyeok to apologize for causing a political stir during the Chuseok holiday and to join the DPK's efforts to revive the people's livelihoods.
그는 추석 연휴 동안 정치적 파장을 일으킨 것에 대해 사과하고, 민생을 살리기 위한 민주당의 노력에 동참할 것을 국민의 힘과 장동혁 대표에게 촉구했다.
 
The PPP denounced Lee's appearance as a broadcast designed to promote himself.
국민의 힘은 이 대통령의 출연을 자신을 홍보하기 위한 방송이라고 비난했다.
 
"In the midst of the national disaster, the scene of Lee smiling on an entertainment show cannot be understood from the public's common sense," Rep. Choi Bo-yun, spokesperson for the PPP, said.
"국가적 재난 속에서 이 대표가 예능 프로그램에서 미소 짓는 장면은 대중의 상식으로는 이해할 수 없다,"라고 국민의힘 대변인인 최보윤 의원이 말했다.
