2004년 3월 20일 토요일 Bering Strait Bridge Have you ever watched the series of discovery channel? Those programs are so interesting and deal with various topics about animals, extreme machines and huge structures. The most interesting contents which I have ever seen is the Bering Strait Bridge. I take up civil engineering so that massive bridge linking Russia to Alaska has a special meaning. It is so difficult to make that bridge because there is too many problems. The worst thing is natural condition. The gigantic ice-bugs will destroy the columns of the bridge and there is no source of supply. Designers and civil engineers should make the special shape of pillar and make a experiment to prevent it from collapsing. And they have to build roads to supply materials like concrete, sand and steel. If that structure is completed, we will face so big change . We can travel all continents by vehicle without taking an airplane. And it is possible to transport every goods, oil and gas through a direct highway connecting every continent.
