AUTO-DETECTION ISSUE: How to fix
An issue with the auto-detection of appropriate graphics settings on a small number of hardware configurations has been identified during testing.
If you experience problems with graphics settings and performance, please adjust the settings manually in the options. This issue will be addressed with an automatic hot-fix in the next 48 hours. By connecting to Steam in 48 hours you will receive the update automatically.
Please also note that after the hot fix install, existing user defined settings will not be overridden. To enable new default optimal preferences your original preferences will need to be deleted, please refer to the following technical preference details found here.

Solution: graphics auto-detection preferences reset
This post follows on from the thread found here regarding an issue identified on a small number of hardware configurations.
Preferences File Reset
If you want to reset your preferences please follow the following steps.
Windows Vista and Windows 7
1. Click your windows start
2. Type “%appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\scripts” into the search programs and files box and search.
3. You will then see a preference file. Delete this file. The file will then reset when the game is restarted
Windows XP
1. Click Run
2. Type “%appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\scripts” into the box click return.
3. You will then see a preference file. Delete this file. The file will then reset when the game is restarted
Alternatively you could use command prompt
C:\>del “%appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\scripts\preferences script.txt”
Graphic Card Preferences
Below is a list of cards and recommended preferences. If you are unsure of your current cards preferences you can cross reference them with the settings blow to ensure they are as intended. The relevant section has been extracted placed below.
If they differ from the settings below you can cut and pastes them over your existing preferences to reflect our recommendation.
Unfortunately we do not have custom settings for all cards. If you card is not below we calculate your default settings via your cards video memory. You may need to tweak your settings further to gain further improvements.
