Jesus and the Apostle Paul

Hallelujah! Father God, who is rich in mercy! We give you glory, honor, and praise for granting us an amazing and complete understanding of the Bible. ​Shalom! Today, let’s think together about a topic that makes a very easy problem difficult through theology. Western theologians think of Paul as a special person, just as books titled "Paul! A follower of Jesus? The founder of Christianity?" are popular.

​Just as the Bible says, Paul is a servant of Jesus and an apostle to the Gentiles. They give such an easily accessible issue a grand title like the above and discuss it for over 300 pages. Why is that? The content of the Apostle Paul's Epistle to the Romans is more theologically controversial than the content of the Four Gospels of Jesus, and the center of Protestantism is justification by faith in Romans 1:17. They even call this verse the pillar of Protestantism.

​Since they think that faith alone makes one righteous and guarantees heaven, and they put all their focus on this verse, it would be difficult to see it as strange to see Paul as the founder of Protestantism. However, since the Apostle Paul clearly states that he is a servant of Jesus, he can never be the founder of Christianity, and he is Just one saint like us. All churches that believe in Jesus were started and are centered on Jesus.

​Paul is an apostle as a servant of Jesus. This is the exact status of Jesus and the apostle Paul. The term founder of Christianity does not fit at all. This is because of a misunderstanding of the Bible. Now, we will correct this theological error through the text of the Bible. Theology can be solved through theology, but it is organized correctly through an accurate understanding of the Bible verses.

​Today, we will enter a place of amazing grace where we will solve the problem that theology has been struggling with for about 500 years through a correct understanding of the Bible verses. I believe this is a blessing that God gives to our people.

​I will tell you the theological facts that we know so that all saints can easily understand. Romans 1:17 is the central verse that Luther advocated Protestantism, and it is a verse that most Protestants know only through faith. Let's look.

​Romans 1:17. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith."

​It is clearly stated in the Bible that only faith can make us righteous, save us, and secure us in heaven, and that works do not determine our rewards or affect our righteousness and our entry into heaven. This is the Protestant doctrine of justification by faith alone. The Catholic Church disagrees, saying that faith and works or good deeds must be added together for us to be saved and become righteous. The two churches have been divided because of these different theological views while reading the same Bible, and scholars have debated with each other, but no conclusion has been reached.

​In particular, the Protestant Church to which we belong seeks to solve all problems through faith alone. Naturally, we seek to understand the Book of Romans in the sense of faith alone. The content of Galatians emphasizes that justification is by faith, not by the law or works, so there is no consensus within Protestantism about this claim, and Catholicism does not accept it, saying that faith and works must be carried out together for salvation and justification to occur.

​Because of this claim by Protestantism, they now want to interpret all of the Bible within the framework of faith alone. And they do not pay much attention to other contents of the Bible besides faith alone. Because they value Paul in this way and consider the content of Romans to be the most important, when a book with the above title is published by a scholar who studied at Harvard, many people in the world pay attention to it, and it is translated into Korean and passed on to me. Now, today, you and I are going to solve this problem that has troubled theologians for 500 years.

​First, let’s bring the content of the main text of Apostle Paul’s Romans and Galatians. It is about justification by faith, about the law, and about works.

​Romans 1:17. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith."

Romans 3:27 Where then is boasting? It cannot be. By what law? By works? No, but by the law of faith.

28 Therefore we acknowledge that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

Romans 9:30 What shall we say then? The Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith;

31 But Israel, who followed the law of righteousness, did not attain to the law.

32 Why is this so? Because they did not rely on faith but on works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling. NIV

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh will be justified. NIV

Galatians 3:11. And that no one is justified before God by the law is evident, because, 'The just shall live by faith.' NIV

Galatians 3:23. But before faith came, we were kept in bondage under the law, shut up for the faith that would be revealed.

24. So the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. NIV

The above content clearly asserts the Protestant claim. Because there are so many passages in the Bible, Protestants have been proudly insisting on faith alone for 500 years with the above passages. It is difficult for anyone to question them. That is why Protestants have been able to insist on justification by faith for 500 years. However, this clear yet different word from the Bible supports the Catholic claim. Let’s look. It is the Epistle of James, which we are all familiar with.

James 2:14. ○My brothers, what good is it if someone says he has faith but has not works? Can faith save him?

15. If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food,

16. and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, be warmed and filled,' but does not give them the things needed for the body, what good is it?

17. Even so faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

18. But someone will say, 'You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by my works.'

19. Do you believe that there is one God? You do well! Even the demons believe and tremble.

20. O foolish man, do you want to know that faith without works is useless? NIV

This passage strongly supports the Catholic claim. That is why Protestants are more interested in Paul's book of Romans and Galatians, and less interested in James. However, this contradiction is definitely in the Protestant doctrine of justification by faith. The problem has not been resolved either.

Now, let us look at the words of Jesus, the master of the Apostle Paul. This is a passage that we do not pay much attention to, and especially Protestants do not pay much attention to. This is a passage that should never be done that way. Shouldn’t the words of the master of the Apostle Paul have more authority than the words of the servant?

Jesus and the Law

Matt. 5:17. ○Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

18. Truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will by any means pass from the Law until all is accomplished.

19. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20. I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. NIV

​Matthew 23:23. ○Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, but you have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy and faith. These ought to have been done, and not the other left undone. NIV

​And Jesus praised those who kept the law well. In the case of the rich young man, he said that he had kept all the Laws well, but he was told to sell his possessions and divide them. Jesus did not add anything to the Laws that he had already kept well, but rather told him to divide them. And when the scribe answered wisely, he said that the kingdom of heaven was not far away. A scribe is someone who has learned the Laws well and tries to keep them.

Now, the thoughts of Jesus on the Law and the thoughts of the apostle Paul on the Law and the thoughts of actions are different from each other. We, especially Protestants, are more interested in and consider the justification of the apostle Paul more important than the words of Jesus below, and we try to solve all problems only with faith. However, there are such conflicting contents in the Bible, and Jesus is the master of the apostle Paul. Therefore, it is natural that we, who believe, should pay more attention to the words of the master. However, in what state are we living our lives of faith? This is our address as we live our lives of faith now.

Now, I would like to solve the problem of the relationship between the teachings of Jesus, the epistles of the apostle Paul, and the Epistle of James. I would like to solve it clearly. The key is the Holy Spirit. If we understand the work of the Holy Spirit well through the Bible, these parts will be solved very easily and clearly. And in order to do this, we must first correctly understand Romans and Galatians. This is different from what we have learned, and it is absolutely not a personal opinion. It is clearly the content of the Bible that is shared with the whole world by the grace of God, which is like the sea. I was a wicked sinner who did not even know the Bible, and I was just a worthless believer who did not always live correctly even though I believed in Jesus. It is because of God’s love that He chose me to preach the truth. Everyone is better than me. So, God chose a worthless sinner like me to let you know that you just need to repent and believe correctly from now on. Please believe.

First, let’s look at Romans 1:17. Let’s look at it together in English. Everyone! Here is the answer. Please do not be surprised. This is what I first wrote to 700 of the world’s greatest theologians.

Romans 1:17. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." (NIV)

This verse is the verse in Habakkuk 2:4, which the Apostle Paul quoted as Romans 1:17. Through this verse, we can solve most of the problems. There is such an easy way, but I think the reason God allowed the teachings of Protestantism for 500 years was because it was important for the gospel to spread throughout the world first. There is an answer in the text that both Protestants and Catholics cannot help but acknowledge.

"The righteous /// will live /// by faith." The answer is right there in these words. Let's divide this verse into three parts. The subject "The righteous" and the auxiliary verb will, the main verb live, and the means by faith can be divided. If we translate it into Korean, it would be "The righteous will live with faith." In other words, what must a person who wants to become righteous do with faith? He must live each day. It is not that he becomes righteous only by faith, nor that some act is added to faith, but that any human being, if he has life, must live each day by solving the problem of living.

In other words, "The righteous are those who live by faith" is the answer, the Bible, and the key to solving the problem. The answer is already in the text of the Bible, so why do you say "only faith" or "no, faith + act"? However, there is another problem that is caught up in such an easy problem. It is the above content of the Apostle Paul's book of Romans and the unchanging expression‎ in the book of Galatians that only faith makes one righteous. We must solve this problem again. This is also not a personal thought, but can be solved with the Bible. God showed me the process of solving all these problems one by one. It took about 33 years after receiving the Holy Spirit. However, I am a debtor. I am writing this with the intention of paying back. It is true.

Where is it solved? This is also solved in the text. The answer is in this phrase, "a righteousness that is by faith from first to last." All the answers are in the text, but we have been trying to solve this problem with theology for 500 years and it is not solved. It is righteousness, and this righteousness is righteousness that comes by faith, and that faith is from beginning to end(faith from first to last). Our Korean Bible translates it as "faith leads to faith," so we can never understand the meaning of the text, "first faith, last faith," in the Korean Bible. Let's look at the joint translation. It is the Catholic (Protestant and joint) translation.

Romans 1:17. The gospel shows us the way God puts humans in a right relationship with Him. Humans can only have a right relationship with God through faith. Doesn't the Bible say, "Those who have a right relationship with God through faith will live.“(Korean joint verson)

Justification is explained as a right relationship, and there is no translation of the meaning of first faith, last faith. Let's look at other Korean translations (Revised Korean, Standard New Translation, etc.) Even if we look at these other translations, we don't understand them well. We have five official translations, but they all translate from faith to faith, so the English meaning of faith from first to last is not conveyed.

1:17. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (KJV) Of course, it says from faith to faith, which is consistent with our translation.

Now, we need to go to Romans 4 and understand this part correctly. God kindly solves this problem. Romans 4 explains Abraham's faith in two ways. Verses 1 to 16 say that Abraham believed and was justified. This is when God first met Abraham and made a promise of descendants and a nation, and Abraham was justified because he believed. This is the content in Genesis 15.​

Genesis 15. 5 Then he took him outside and said, "Look toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them." And he said to him, "So shall your offspring be."

6. Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness (NIV)

He explains this content in Romans 4:1-16, which is very similar to Romans 1:17 and the content in Galatians that the righteous will live by faith. However, there is a twist, which we read but do not understand well and pass over. I also learn something new like the content of James while studying like this. Let's take a look. Let's look at James together at this time. Learning is endless.

Romans 4:17. (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”), in whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.

18. Abraham, against all hope, in hope believed so that he should become the father of many nations, just as it was said, “So shall your offspring be.”

19. Without weakening in faith, he considered his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, or Sarah’s womb as dead.

20. He did not waver in unbelief at the promise of God, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God,

21. and being fully convinced that what he had promised, he was able to also perform.

22. Therefore it was credited to him as righteousness (NIV)

​James 2:21. Was not our father Abraham justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? (This was after he was 100 years old.)

22. You see that faith was working together with his works, and by works his faith was made perfect.

23. And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness. And he was called the friend of God.

24. So we see that by works a man is justified, and not by faith alone (NIV)

Now, we must look carefully at the part that we have just passed over. What is the content? Romans 4:1-16 clearly explains the content of Abraham's first encounter with God and his justification by faith in verse 16(1-16 16 verses). Please read the text and confirm‎ it. However, now, God sees his unchanging faith even at the age of 100 and justifies him by this faith. There are two types of righteousness. At first, God justified Abraham when he met Him and believed, that is, when Abraham was 75 years old. And after 25 years, God saw Abraham's unchanging faith and justified him again. We clearly see through the Bible that there are two types of justification. The content of Romans 1:17, which says that it comes from faith to faith or faith from beginning to end(faitn from first to last), is explained here. After 25 years, God saw his unchanging faith and justified him because he believed that way. Now, we can confirm‎ that God justifies us when we first believe, but also when God sees how that person believes after some time has passed and has unchanging faith, He justifies him. In other words, we can confirm‎ that the first faith and some later faith must be consistent and unchanging in order to receive complete justification. This is also in perfect agreement with the English verse in Romans 1:17, "The righteous /// will live /// by faith." In other words, anyone who wants to be justified must live by faith. When we first believe, we can be considered righteous, but later on, only when we live by this faith can we be considered righteous again.

As the saying goes, “Faith from beginning to end(faitn from first to last)” and “from faith to faith,” it means that we must always live by faith so that God will later consider us righteous. Abraham was definitely considered righteous twice. He passed the first time, and he also passed when he was 100 years old. If we look at the Book of James, he must have been around 110 years old when he offered Isaac. He also passed at that time. In other words, when we live a life of faith completely, we are all considered righteous in God’s eyes. We must understand this principle through the Bible. Romans 4 asserts Abraham’s faith and righteousness throughout. This is consistent with the saying, “from faith to faith, from beginning to end” (faith from first to last).

The Epistle of James also explains the same thing. This part is perfectly consistent between Romans and James.

It explains living a life of faith. All saints who have maintained life have a destiny to believe and live each day somehow. We must live this way as long as our lives exist. However, that life must become a life of faith, and only by believing without ceasing can we pass God’s justification. We can all confirm‎ this principle through the Bible.

In other words, God justifies us by looking at our initial faith and our final faith at the same time. However, if we initially believe in Jesus and become righteous, but later, that is, when God looks at our final faith, we do not have faith or are busy with other things, our life of faith will not continue and we will not be able to keep our faith. We can clearly understand through the Bible that God will never justify us when he sees such faith. This is also clearly stated in the Book of Ezekiel.

Ezekiel 3:20. And when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, his righteousness that he has done will not be remembered, but I will put a stumbling block before him, and he will die because you did not warn him. He will die in his sin, but I will require his blood at your hand. (NIV)

It is true that we become righteous when we believe in Jesus. However, faith must go from faith to faith, and the first faith and the last faith must be in agreement. In other words, we must live our lives with faith without ceasing and without changing. Our faith must also remain unchanged when God sees it later, so that He can see it and justify us. Romans 4:17-22 says this so that no one in the world can deny it. We have omitted this procedure too much. And without the Holy Spirit, it is absolutely impossible for a human being to know this content. I definitely received the Holy Spirit from Jesus. I received it in the early spring of 1992.

Now, we must gain more strength and go to Habakkuk 2:4 where Romans 1:17 is mentioned. This is only when we understand it correctly that we can fully understand Romans 1:17. If Luther did not confirm‎ Romans 4 and Habakkuk 2:4, we, the later generations, should confirm‎ and understand them correctly. We should praise his great beginning and inherit and develop it. I learned through God’s discipline that I should not criticize anyone as the worst saint.

The book of Habakkuk is a short book of the Bible with 3 chapters. Habakkuk was a prophet in the final days of Southern Judah around 608 BC. After Southern Judah was destroyed in 586 BC, the Law was inevitably loosened in their lives and spiritual corruption was severe. Habakkuk was a prophet who lived righteously during this time. Injustice was so rampant that it became difficult for a righteous person like Habakkuk to live. So, even though they were his own people, Habakkuk asked God, “Do you just ignore this injustice?” Then God said that he would punish Southern Judah by using Babylon as a tool of judgment. Habakkuk asks God again about this. "Why do you use Babylon, who is even more unrighteous, as your tool?" God's answer to this is the verse we all know well: "Only the righteous will live by faith.“

4. "See, he is puffed up; his desires are not upright -- but the righteous will live by his faith --(Revised Standard Version, Common Translation, NIV in order)

​As we have seen, but the righteous /// will live /// by his faith, to become righteous, one must live by faith in God. If we understand this passage correctly while looking at Habakkuk chapters 1 and 3, it means that they endure and live righteously even though they(Habakkuk) see the tragedy of the destruction of Southern Judah and the destruction of Babylon at the same time. The meaning of the text is that they live righteously, unlike the people of Southern Judah or Babylon who live wickedly day by day, believing in the righteous God who will destroy the two wicked nations and bring about a just world. In other words, Romans 1:17 accurately includes the meaning that we believe in Jesus and live our lives day by day, not unrighteously but righteously, believing in Jesus who will judge the world justly, no matter how much injustice it is in the world.

Now we need to work a little harder and go to the end. Only when we understand the meaning of living by faith (a new way of serving led by the Holy Spirit) written in Romans 7:6 can we finally understand Romans 1:17. Let's look at the text.​

Romans 7:6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.(korean verson)

7:6 For we were held captive by the law, but now we are released from its constraints, so that we serve not according to the way of the old written code, but according to the new life of the Spirit.(another korean verson)

7:6. But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.(NIV)

There are some hurdles to overcome in this verse as well. The part that I have interpreted in ( ) is the English expression‎, so you must understand it as it is. The Catholic translation is also incorrect. I was surprised. Any interpretation that harms the Law even a little bit can never lead to a correct understanding of the Bible. The Law is the words of the Pentateuch, which are absolutely the object of praise, and it is a very important part of the Bible. Some people have said that the Bible is simply the law. I agree with this because the law is the Law, that is, the law of the Pentateuch. There is absolutely no 0.000% in English the phrase “old Law code.” It means that the method of serving is old. It is not the method of the day when the Apostle Paul, who did not know Jesus, the Holy Spirit, or the words of the New Testament at all, was deeply immersed in the Law of the Old Testament, and believed that if he kept the Law, everything would be fine, and he arrested and imprisoned believers. In other words, it is not the method of the past when he kept the Law, believing that this(That) was all, but now that he has received the Holy Spirit, he lives in a new way guided by the Holy Spirit. The Book of Galatians and Romans emphasizes the work of the Holy Spirit so much. However, if you try to understand it without the Holy Spirit, everything becomes difficult. I emphasized understanding the Holy Spirit first before, but if you look closely, there is so much emphasis on the Holy Spirit in Galatians and Romans. I also read Galatians only as justification by faith, but when I summarized it myself, I was surprised to see so many explanations about the Holy Spirit. This is the content of Galatians that I summarized.

When we receive the Holy Spirit, this is what happens to us. That is why Jesus told us to receive the Holy Spirit and preach the gospel when he ascended to heaven. If we miss the procedures that must be followed, we will face many problems. However, Jesus said that if the fathers of the world ask for bread, no one will give them a stone. How much more if we ask God for the Holy Spirit, he will give it to us. He made the same promise in Joel, and Peter also said in Acts 2:37-38 that he would give us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the first gift of the saints that we must receive by following the procedure. If we give up everything, including our house and car, and receive the Holy Spirit, we will receive everything. Let’s see this too.

Love is the fulfillment of the law

Romans 13:8. ○Owe no one anything except to love one another. He who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.

9. For the commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are all summed up in this one word: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

10. Love does no evil to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (NIV)

The Apostle Paul knew, believed, and loved Jesus all his life. The greatest love of all loves is to spread the gospel. As the Apostle Paul lived this way, he saw that he fulfilled all the laws even though he did not keep every single letter of the law. This is because the purpose of the Law is to practice love, practice justice, and live a faithful life. God, who has love, justice, and faithfulness as his attributes, expressed his attributes in the Laws of the Pentateuch. He gave this Law to Israel through Moses and to all of us in the New Testament era.

There is also another important content. We must understand it together by connecting it to the book of Romans.

Romans 3:31. Do we then nullify the law through faith? God forbid! On the contrary, we establish the law (NIV)

What do we do with the Law when we live a life of faith? He says that we will never nullify it, but rather establish it. This is also the word that His servant, the Apostle Paul, acknowledges and says. He says that if we live a life of faith correctly, we will not only fulfill the Law, but also establish it. In other words, the Holy Spirit will guide us and never let us live against the Law. And the country where the Law is firmly established and completed is the country with order, justice, and peace and joy. This country is the kingdom of God that God wants to establish on this earth. Because the Law is kept and there is order, justice flows. And because justice flows, there is peace. Where there is peace, joy overflows. This country is the kingdom of God. We must dream of this country. The reality of Korea is that those who correctly understand this Bible can see at a glance how the law, that is, the laws of the world, are not kept and how someone is doing whatever he wants.

Romans 14:17. The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (NIV)

This is a country that must be established by receiving the Holy Spirit and being guided. The kingdom of God is a country that we cannot establish by overcoming the world and fleshly desires with our own strength without the Holy Spirit. We were saved in order to establish this country. If we are loyal to the visible country, we become patriots and are recognized. However, if we are loyal for the eternal kingdom, the reward and happiness will be eternal. And blessings that cannot be compared to what we enjoy on this earth await us. Apostle Paul had already gone to the third heaven before his death and saw this blessing in advance and was loyal until his death. We do not have to see it, but we just have to believe and go forward.

Now, when we look at Jesus’ words, we can see that they are no different from Apostle Paul’s teachings. Keep the Law letter by letter, and prioritize love, justice, and faithfulness, which are more important than these. And because we are weak because of sin, through His sacrifice, we can believe in Jesus and be forgiven of all our past sins. And after His resurrection, He commanded us, who are still lacking, to receive the Holy Spirit. Those who obeyed that command were the apostles, the saints, Apostle Paul, the Gentile Cornelius, his family, and friends, and through Peter’s sermon, 3,000 and 5,000 people believed and received the Holy Spirit, and they established the Roman church and prepared in various places before Paul went. And in later generations, the Holy Spirit came to believers as a gift without ceasing, allowing them to spread the gospel and establish churches. Now, there is hardly a region in the world where there are no believers in Jesus, and billions of people, or about 30% of the population, believe in Jesus.

​If we receive the Holy Spirit and serve in the new way of the Holy Spirit, like the Apostle Paul, we will practice the command of Jesus. We will seek His kingdom and righteousness, fulfill the Law, and establish it firmly. Now you will know that the teachings of Jesus and the Apostle Paul are in perfect agreement.

The one who plays this role is the Holy Spirit. It is so important for us to receive the Holy Spirit. Although Apollos, a doctor of the Bible, was a Jew who was well-versed in the Bible, knew the New Testament, and preached, he did not know about the Holy Spirit. He honestly admitted this. And after hearing an explanation about the Holy Spirit from Priscilla Aquila, he is said to have overcome the chief priests and the teachers of the law with the gospel even more powerfully.

Apollo preaches boldly

Acts 18:24. ○A Jew named Apollos, born in Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man and well-versed in the Scriptures.

25. He had been instructed in the way of the Lord and was fervent in spirit and taught accurately about Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.

26. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

27. When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace.

28. For he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, testifying by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ. (NIV)

Apollo was well-versed in the Scriptures, but he did not know about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. What did Aquila and Priscilla, who were disciples of Paul and received the Holy Spirit, do? Explaining the way of God more accurately and explaining the Holy Spirit to him and allowing him to receive the Holy Spirit have the same meaning. What else is needed for someone who knows and wants to preach the Bible like this? Only the Holy Spirit.

A person who has received the Holy Spirit is someone to whom God has given the gift of the Holy Spirit. God promised with Jesus that He would give the Holy Spirit to someone who has not yet received the Holy Spirit. So, honestly, like Apollos, ask those who have received the Holy Spirit and receive it. It is not shameful. Apollos was a Jew and of high status. He also had a doctorate in the Bible. He is a current theologian and pastor. However, he learned from a lowly tentmaker. And I believe that he definitely received the Holy Spirit. I claim that this person wrote the Book of Hebrews. Is there anyone more suitable than this person?

If Apollos had tried to teach the Bible to Priscilla Aquila when he met them, he would never have gone deeper into the way of God. And Apollos would have disappeared from church history without a name. If Apollos had written Hebrews, it was clearly the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and the amazing guidance of the Holy Spirit. An ordinary person who would have disappeared from church history without a name received the Holy Spirit and was used in such a great way. If there is no one more suitable to write Hebrews than this person, it is Apollos. It is our homework to find out what kind of teaching Priscilla Aquila explained to impress the Bible scholar and how Apollos became an evangelist with the power to overcome the priests and scribes he met in the synagogue after meeting them. It is our homework after a long time. However, this is definitely nothing more than Aquila and Priscilla who received the Holy Spirit and spoke about the Holy Spirit and received the Holy Spirit. Now, this person received the Holy Spirit, preached the gospel powerfully, overcame the Jews, and became a leader of the church. Now, the joy of finding the author of the book of Hebrews, which has no author, is another homework for us, but if we solve it up to this point, if there is no one more suitable than Apollos, Apollos is the most likely author.

If I had not received the Holy Spirit, there would be no ceaseless evangelism, and there would be no ceaseless summarizing and organizing the Bible. After quitting my job at a bank, I failed the civil service exam that I studied for eight years, failed my marriage, and everything I wanted to do went down the drain. What kind of motivation would I have to live in this world? And there is little chance that I will overcome 40 years of extreme poverty and various major failures and live. However, the driving force for me to read the Bible, organize it, and evangelize is the Holy Spirit’s indwelling and inspiration. He gave me the joy of understanding the Bible without ceasing, and that joy became the driving force of my life. It was so wonderful and sweet that I could hear it with a ceaseless heart. That comfort was the voice of the Lord saying, “I love you,” “Don’t worry about anything,” and “Be strong.” God did this, so I have been running for 40 years without any time to feel discouraged or difficult. The constant comfort and encouragement is the driving force that has brought me this far. And the joy of realizing the truth of the Bible while preaching, reading the Bible, and organizing it is the greatest in the world. This joy has helped me overcome all trials. All pastors, elders, and theologians in the world should know how foolish, difficult, and worthless it is for pastors, elders, and theologians to do theology and ministry without receiving the Holy Spirit, who is so good, just because they have learned a little about the Bible.

I have tens of thousands of pastors, so what are you? I am the best theologian in the world, so what are you? I am an elder with all the money and fame, so what are you? You may ask, but the heretics who are the greatest enemies of Jesus also number in the hundreds of thousands. You should not try to hide your ministry without receiving the Holy Spirit by the number of believers you serve. You must be absolutely honest.

All materials that were preached without a correct understanding of the Bible have already been made known to the whole world in books and videos, so they cannot be given again. If you live like this and die and go before the Lord, you will be judged, and all those materials will become trash. Please believe me. All the sermons, lectures, books, videos, etc. that you preached without properly knowing the truth and without verifying because you were immersed in theology will become trash before the truth and will remain as great sins that led the sheep to an imperfect path, and there will be absolutely no way to avoid judgment. I hope that all those who do theology, pastor, and serve as elders without the Holy Spirit will shiver before this fact and feel fear rushing in like a waterfall, and will just naturally bow down to God, repent of their sins, and receive the Holy Spirit and joyfully and joyfully pastor, do theology, and serve as elders. I earnestly urge you in the name of Jesus. If the Apostle Paul came to this age, what would he do if he saw the church today? And what would he say after seeing the understanding of the book of Romans that he preached?

Even if you become a pastor, an elder, or a deacon (elector), if you do not experience the Holy Spirit, you can ask a deacon who is a believer who has received the Holy Spirit and evangelizes like Apollos, or go to a meeting to receive the Holy Spirit, or pray to God with a heart of earnest longing for the Holy Spirit, and I believe that God will surely give you the Holy Spirit as a gift.

It would be the most unfortunate thing for someone who has not received the Holy Spirit to believe and claim that he has received it and not receive it. I am sharing this information because I received the Holy Spirit. I am not a Bible scholar, a theologian, or a pastor serving a church. I am just an ordinary person (pastor) who reads the Bible, preaches, and lives the world like any other office worker, and has a family. However, God made it easy for me to preach, read the Bible, organize (summarize), and understand. I did not make any great efforts, and everything was just revealed to me in order by God.

Everything is God’s grace. I believe it is a great blessing given to me. It has been 42 years since I left the bank. ​오직 믿음이면 의롭게 되고 천국도 보장이 되는 너무나 귀한 성경의 말씀이라 생각하고 모든 중심을 이 구절에 두기에 바울을 개신교의 창시자로 보는 시각도 이상하다고 보기 어려울 것입니다. 그런데 바울 사도가 자신은 예수님의 종이라고 분명하게 자신의 신분을 밝히고 있으니 절대로 기독교의 창시자가 될 수가 없고 오직 그는 우리와 같은 한 성도에 불과합니다. 모든 예수를 믿는 교회는 예수님께서 시작하셨고 중심이 되십니다.

​롬 1:1. 예수 그리스도의 종 바울은 사도로 부르심을 받아 하나님의 복음을 위하여 택정함을 입었으니 개역개정

​바울은 예수님의 종으로서 사도입니다. 이것이 예수님과 바울 사도의 정확한 신분의 모습입니다. 기독교의 창시자란 말은 조금도 어울리지 않습니다. 성경을 잘못 이해하고 이렇게 된 것입니다. 이제 우리는 성경의 본문을 통해서 이런 신학적인 오류를 바로 잡고자 합니다. 신학은 신학으로 풀 수도 있겠지만 성경 구절의 정확한 이해를 통해서 바로 정리가 되는 것입니다.

​오늘 우리는 약 500년 동안 신학이 고민한 문제를 성경 구절의 올바른 이해를 통해서 푸는 놀라운 은혜의 자리로 들어가게 될 것입니다. 이는 하나님께서 우리 민족에게 주시는 축복으로 믿습니다.

​모든 성도가 쉽게 이해가 되게 우리가 알고 있는 신학적인 사실을 말씀드립니다. 로마서 1장 17절은 루터가 개신교를 제창한 중심이 되는 구절이며 대부분의 개신교인이 오직 믿음으로 알고 있는 구절입니다. 보시겠습니다.

​롬 1:17. 복음에는 하나님의 의가 나타나서 믿음으로 믿음에 이르게 하나니 기록된 바 오직 의인은 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라 함과 같으니라 개역개정

​분명하게 성경에 이렇게 있으니 오직 믿음으로 의롭게 되고 구원도 받고 그리고 천국도 보장이 되며 행위는 상급을 결정하지 의롭게 되고 천국에 들어가는 것에 영향을 미치지 않는다란 주장이 개신교의 이신칭의입니다. 이에 대해서 천주교는 아니다 믿음과 행위 혹은 선행이 같이 첨부가 되어야 구원도 받고 의롭게도 된다고 합니다. 같은 성경을 읽고 이렇게 다른 신학적인 견해로 두 교회가 분열이 되고 지금까지 학자들이 서로 토론을 하였지만 결론이 나지 않고 있습니다.

​특히 우리가 속한 개신교는 오직 믿음으로 모든 문제를 해결하고자 합니다. 당연히 로마서도 오직 믿음의 의미로 이해하고자 합니다. 갈라디아서의 내용도 율법도 아니고 행위도 아닌 믿음으로 의롭게 된다고 강조하니 이 주장에 대해서 개신교 내에서 별로 의견이 없이 통일이 되어 있고, 천주교는 이를 받아들이지 않고 믿음과 행위가 같이 병행이 되어야 구원과 칭의가 일어난다고 합니다.

​개신교의 주장이 이러다 보니 이제 모든 성경을 오직 믿음의 큰 틀에 넣고 해석을 하고자 합니다. 그리고 오직 믿음 외에 다른 성경의 내용에 대해선 별로 주목을 하지 않습니다. 이렇게 바울을 높이고 로마서의 내용을 가장 중요하게 생각을 하다 보니 위와 같은 제목의 책이 하버드에서 배운 학자의 글로 세상에 나오면 많은 세상의 사람이 주목하고 한글로도 번역이 되어 저에게까지 전해지는 것입니다. 이제 오늘 저와 여러분이 이 문제 500년 동안 신학자들을 괴롭힌 문제를 우리가 풀고자 하는 것입니다.

​먼저 바울 사도의 로마서와 갈라디아서의 본문의 내용을 다 가져옵니다. 이신칭의에 대한 내용이며 율법에 대한 내용이며 행위에 대한 내용입니다.

​롬 1:17. 복음에는 하나님의 의가 나타나서 믿음으로 믿음에 이르게 하나니 기록된 바 오직 의인은 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라 함과 같으니라

롬 3:27. 그런즉 자랑할 데가 어디냐 있을 수가 없느니라 무슨 법으로냐 행위로냐 아니라 오직 믿음의 법으로니라

28. 그러므로 사람이 의롭다 하심을 얻는 것은 율법의 행위에 있지 않고 믿음으로 되는 줄 우리가 인정하노라

롬 9:30. ○그런즉 우리가 무슨 말을 하리요 의를 따르지 아니한 이방인들이 의를 얻었으니 곧 믿음에서 난 의요

31. 의의 법을 따라간 이스라엘은 율법에 이르지 못하였으니

32. 어찌 그러하냐 이는 그들이 믿음을 의지하지 않고 행위를 의지함이라 부딪칠 돌에 부딪쳤느니라 (개역개정)

​갈 2:16. 사람이 의롭게 되는 것은 율법의 행위로 말미암음이 아니요 오직 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 말미암는 줄 알므로 우리도 그리스도 예수를 믿나니 이는 우리가 율법의 행위로써가 아니고 그리스도를 믿음으로써 의롭다 함을 얻으려 함이라 율법의 행위로써는 의롭다 함을 얻을 육체가 없느니라

갈 3:11. 또 하나님 앞에서 아무도 율법으로 말미암아 의롭게 되지 못할 것이 분명하니 이는 의인은 믿음으로 살리라 하였음이라 (개역개정)

갈 3:23. ○믿음이 오기 전에 우리는 율법 아래에 매인 바 되고 계시될 믿음의 때까지 갇혔느니라

24. 이같이 율법이 우리를 그리스도께로 인도하는 초등교사가 되어 우리로 하여금 믿음으로 말미암아 의롭다 함을 얻게 하려 함이라

25. 믿음이 온 후로는 우리가 초등교사 아래에 있지 아니하도다

26. 너희가 다 믿음으로 말미암아 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님의 아들이 되었으니 (개역개정)

​위의 내용이 한결같이 개신교의 주장을 너무나 분명하게 주장합니다. 이렇게 여러 구절들이 성경에 있기에 개신교는 당당하게 500년을 위의 구절들로 오직 믿음을 줄기차게 주장한 것입니다. 누가 반문을 하기 어렵습니다. 그래서 500년 동안 개신교인들이 이신칭의를 줄기차게 주장도 할 수가 있었습니다. 그런데 이렇게 분명하지만 또 다른 성경에게 하시는 말씀은 천주교의 주장을 뒤받침합니다. 보시겠습니다. 우리가 잘 아는 야고보서입니다.

약 2:14. ○내 형제들아 만일 사람이 믿음이 있노라 하고 행함이 없으면 무슨 유익이 있으리요 그 믿음이 능히 자기를 구원하겠느냐

15. 만일 형제나 자매가 헐벗고 일용할 양식이 없는데

16. 너희 중에 누구든지 그에게 이르되 평안히 가라, 덥게 하라, 배부르게 하라 하며 그 몸에 쓸 것을 주지 아니하면 무슨 유익이 있으리요

17. 이와 같이 행함이 없는 믿음은 그 자체가 죽은 것이라

18. 어떤 사람은 말하기를 너는 믿음이 있고 나는 행함이 있으니 행함이 없는 네 믿음을 내게 보이라 나는 행함으로 내 믿음을 네게 보이리라 하리라

19. 네가 하나님은 한 분이신 줄을 믿느냐 잘하는도다 귀신들도 믿고 떠느니라

20. 아아 허탄한 사람아 행함이 없는 믿음이 헛것인 줄을 알고자 하느냐 (개역개정)

​이 구절은 천주교의 주장을 강력하게 뒷받침합니다. 그래서 개신교는 바울의 로마서와 갈라디아서 등에 더욱 관심을 갖고 야고보서에 대해선 덜 관심을 갖습니다. 그런데 이런 모순이 틀림없이 개신교의 이신칭의에 있습니다. 이에 대해서 문제를 역시 해결하지 못하고 있습니다.

​이제 바울 사도의 주인이 되시는 예수님의 말씀을 같이 봅니다. 우리가 너무나 주목을 하지 않고 특히 개신교인은 별로 관심도 갖지 않는 구절입니다. 절대로 그렇게 해서는 아니 되는 구절입니다. 바울 사도의 주인의 말씀이 종의 말씀보다 더욱 권위가 있어야 되는 것이 아닙니까?

​예수와 율법

​마 5:17. ○내가 율법이나 선지자를 폐하러 온 줄로 생각하지 말라 폐하러 온 것이 아니요 완전하게 하려 함이라

18. 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 천지가 없어지기 전에는 율법의 일점 일획도 결코 없어지지 아니하고 다 이루리라

19. 그러므로 누구든지 이 계명 중의 지극히 작은 것 하나라도 버리고 또 그같이 사람을 가르치는 자는 천국에서 지극히 작다 일컬음을 받을 것이요 누구든지 이를 행하며 가르치는 자는 천국에서 크다 일컬음을 받으리라

20. 내가 너희에게 이르노니 너희 의가 서기관과 바리새인보다 더 낫지 못하면 결코 천국에 들어가지 못하리라 (개역개정)

​마 23:23. ○화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희가 박하와 회향과 근채의 십일조는 드리되 율법의 더 중한 바 정의와 긍휼과 믿음은 버렸도다 그러나 이것도 행하고 저것도 버리지 말아야 할지니라 (개역개정)

​그리고 예수님께서는 율법을 잘 지키는 사람들에 대해서 칭찬을 하셨습니다. 부자 청년의 경우 모든 율법을 잘 지켰다고 했는데 이에 대해서 소유를 팔아서 나누라고 하셨습니다. 이미 잘 지킨 율법에 대해선 말씀을 더하지 않으시고 더하여 나누라고 하셨습니다. 그리고 서기관이 지혜롭게 대답하자 천국이 멀지 않다고 하셨습니다. 서기관은 율법을 잘 배우고 지키려고 하는 사람입니다.

이제 예수님의 율법에 대한 생각과 바울 사도의 율법에 대한 생각, 행위에 대한 생각이 서로 간에 다르게 나타나고 있습니다. 우리는 특히 개신교인은 아래 예수님의 말씀보다 바울 사도의 이신칭의에 더욱 관심을 갖고 중요하게 생각하며 오직 믿음으로 모든 문제를 해결하려고 합니다. 그런데 이와 같이 서로 상충하는 내용들이 성경에 있고 특히 예수님은 바울 사도의 주인입니다. 그래서 믿는 우리는 주인의 말씀에 더욱 관심을 기울려야 당연합니다. 그런데 우리는 어떤 상태로 신앙생활을 하고 있습니까? 이것이 지금 우리가 신앙생활을 하는 우리의 주소입니다.

이제 이렇게 예수님의 가르침과 바울 사도의 서신서 그리고 야고보서의 관계의 문제를 풀고자 합니다. 시원하게 풀고자 합니다. 그 열쇠는 바로 성령님이십니다. 우리가 성령님의 사역에 대해서 성경을 통해서 잘 이해를 하면 이 부분들이 너무나 쉽게 시원하게 풀립니다. 그리고 이를 위해선 로마서와 갈라디아서를 먼저 올바로 이해를 해야만 합니다. 우리가 배운 내용과 다른 내용이며 절대적으로 개인의 생각이 아닙니다. 분명히 성경에 있는 내용을 바다와 같은 하나님의 은혜로 온 세상에 나누는 것입니다. 저는 성경도 모르는 흉악한 죄인이었고 예수님을 믿고도 늘 올바르게 살지 못한 못난 성도에 불과합니다. 이런 저를 선택하셔서 이렇게 진리를 전함은 하나님의 사랑에서 비롯이 됩니다. 모든 분이 저보다 났습니다. 그러니 여러분께서 회개하시고 이제부터 올바로 믿기만 하면 된다는 것을 알게 하시려 하나님께서 저와 같은 못난 죄인을 선택하신 것입니다. 믿으시기 바랍니다.

먼저 로마서 1장 17절을 봅니다.

영어로 함께 봅니다. 여러분! 여기에 답이 있습니다. 놀라지 마시기 바랍니다. 제가 700명의 세상에서 가장 뛰어난 신학자에게 먼저 편지로 보낸 내용입니다.

롬 1:17. 복음에는 하나님의 의가 나타나서 믿음으로 믿음에 이르게 하나니 기록된 바 오직 의인은 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라 함과 같으니라

17. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."(NIV)

이 구절은 하박국서 2장 4절에 있는 말씀을 바울 사도께서 로마서 1장 17절로 인용을 하신 것입니다. 이 구절을 통해서 우리는 문제를 대부분 풀 수가 있습니다. 이렇게 쉬운 길이 있는데 이렇게 500년 개신교의 가르침을 하나님께서 허락하신 것은 복음이 먼저 온 세상에 퍼지는 것이 중요했기 때문이라 봅니다. 본문에 개신교와 천주교가 공히 인정할 수 밖에 없는 답이 있습니다.

"The righteous /// will live /// by faith." 이 말씀에 바로 답이 존재합니다. 우리가 이 구절을 세 파트로 나눕니다. 주어 "The righteous와 조동사 will과 본동사 live 그리고 수단의 by faith로 나눌 수가 있습니다. 우리 말로 번역을 하면 의인은 살 것이다 믿음을 가지고서. 즉 의인이 되려는 사람은 믿음을 가지고 반드시 무엇을 해야 합니까? 하루하루 삶을 살아야만 되는 것입니다. 오직 믿음으로 의인이 되는 것이 아니라 오직 믿음에 무슨 행위가 플러스가 되는 것이 아니라 인간이면 누구나 생명이 있다면 하루하루 살아야 하는 문제를 해결하며 산다는 것입니다.

즉 "의인은 믿음으로 삶을 사는 사람이다"가 답이며 성경말씀이며 문제 해결의 열쇠입니다. 이미 성경 본문에 답이 있는데 무엇 때문에 "오직 믿음이다", "아니다 믿음+행위이다" 하십니까? 그런데 이렇게 쉬운 문제에 또 걸리는 것이 있으니 바울 사도의 로마서의 위의 내용과 갈라디아서의 변함없는 오직 믿음이 의롭게 된다는 표현입니다. 이 문제를 우리는 또 풀어야 합니다. 이도 역시 개인적인 생각이 아니라 성경으로 풀면 됩니다. 모든 이런 문제가 풀리는 과정을 하나님께서 제게 순서대로 하나씩 알게 하셨습니다. 시간도 성령을 받고 33년 정도 걸렸습니다. 그렇지만 저는 빚쟁이 입니다. 빚을 갚는다는 심정으로 이 글을 씁니다. 사실이 그렇습니다.

어디서 풉니까 이도 본문에서 풉니다. "a righteousness that is by faith from first to last" 이 구절에 답이 또 있습니다. 본문에 모든 답이 있는데 우리는 신학으로 이 문제를 500년 동안 풀려고 해서 풀리지 않는 것입니다. 의인데 이 의는 믿음으로 오는 의인데 그 믿음은 처음부터 끝까지 라고 합니다. 우리 한글 성경은 믿음으로 믿음에 이르게 하나니로 번역을 해서 첫 믿음 끝 믿음이란 본문의 의미를 절대로 한글 성경으로 알 수가 없게 합니다. 공동번역을 봅니다. 천주교(개신교와 공동)의 번역입니다.

롬 1:17. 복음은 하느님께서 인간을 당신과 올바른 관계에 놓아주시는 길을 보여주십니다. 인간은 오직 믿음을 통해서 하느님과 올바른 관계를 가지게 됩니다. 성서에도 "믿음을 통해서 하느님과 올바른 관계를 가지게 된 사람은 살 것이다." 하지 않았습니까?(공동번역)

칭의를 올바른 관계로 설명했고 첫 믿음 끝 믿음에 대한 의미도 번역이 없습니다. 다른 한글 번역을 봅니다(개역한글, 표준 새 번역 등). 이렇게 다른 번역도 보아야 잘 이해가 되지 않습니다. 우리는 5가지 공인된 번역이 있는데 모두가 믿음에서 믿음으로 번역을 해서 영어의 faith from first to last란 의미가 전달이 되지 않습니다.

1:17. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.(KJV) 는 물론 믿음에서 믿음으로 라고 되어 있어 우리의 번역과 일치를 합니다.

이제 우리는 또 로마서 4장으로가서 이 부분을 올바로 이해를 해야 합니다. 하나님께서 친절하게 이 문제를 해결하십니다. 로마서 4장은 아브라함의 믿음에 대해서 두 가지로 설명을 합니다. 1절에서 16절까지는 아브라함이 믿으니 의롭다 하셨다고 합니다. 이는 아브라함을 하나님께서 처음 만나시고 자손과 민족의 약속을 하실 때 아브라함이 믿으니 의롭다 하신 것입니다. 창세기 15장에 있는 내용입니다.

창 15. 5 그를 이끌고 밖으로 나가 이르시되 하늘을 우러러 뭇별을 셀 수 있나 보라 또 그에게 이르시되 네 자손이 이와 같으리라

6. 아브람이 여호와를 믿으니 여호와께서 이를 그의 의로 여기시고(개역개정)

이 내용을 로마서 4장 1-16절로 설명을 하시고 이는 로마서 1장 17절과 갈라디아서의 오직 의인은 믿음으로 살리라 하는 내용과 너무나 일치를 합니다. 그런데 반전이 있는데 우리가 읽기는 읽어도 잘 이해를 하지 않고 넘어가는 부분입니다. 저도 이렇게 공부를 하면서 야고보서 내용과 같이 새롭게 배웁니다. 자 보시겠습니다. 야고보서도 이참에 같이 봅니다. 배움은 끝이 없습니다.

롬 4:17. 기록된 바 내가 너를 많은 민족의 조상으로 세웠다 하심과 같으니 그가 믿은 바 하나님은 죽은 자를 살리시며 없는 것을 있는 것으로 부르시는 이시니라

18. 아브라함이 바랄 수 없는 중에 바라고 믿었으니 이는 네 후손이 이같으리라 하신 말씀대로 많은 민족의 조상이 되게 하려 하심이라

19. 그가 백 세나 되어 자기 몸이 죽은 것 같고 사라의 태가 죽은 것 같음을 알고도 믿음이 약하여지지 아니하고

20. 믿음이 없어 하나님의 약속을 의심하지 않고 믿음으로 견고하여져서 하나님께 영광을 돌리며

21. 약속하신 그것을 또한 능히 이루실 줄을 확신하였으니

22. 그러므로 그것이 그에게 의로 여겨졌느니라(개역개정)

약 2:21. 우리 조상 아브라함이 그 아들 이삭을 제단에 바칠 때에 행함으로 의롭다 하심을 받은 것이 아니냐 ( 이 때가 100세가 지나서 임)

22. 네가 보거니와 믿음이 그의 행함과 함께 일하고 행함으로 믿음이 온전하게 되었느니라

23. 이에 성경에 이른 바 아브라함이 하나님을 믿으니 이것을 의로 여기셨다는 말씀이 이루어졌고 그는 하나님의 벗이라 칭함을 받았나니

24. 이로 보건대 사람이 행함으로 의롭다 하심을 받고 믿음으로만은 아니니라(개역개정)

이제 우리가 보면서도 그냥 지나간 부분을 반드시 잘 보아야 합니다. 내용이 무엇입니까? 분명하게 로마서 4장 1절에서 16절까지는 아브라함이 처음 하나님을 만나서 믿음으로 의롭다 하는 내용을 16절에 걸쳐서 설명을 합니다. 본문을 읽어 보시고 확인을 하시기 바랍니다. 그런데 이제 100세가 되어도 변치 않는 믿음을 보시고 이 믿음으로 의롭다 하신다고 합니다. 두 가지 의로움이 있습니다. 처음에 하나님을 만나서 믿기에 의롭다 하신 것, 즉 그 때는 아브라함이 75세였습니다. 그리고 25년이 지나서 하나님께서 아브라함의 변치 않는 믿음을 보시고 또 의롭다 하십니다. 두 가지 의롭다 하심이 있음을 우리는 성경을 통해서 분명하게 봅니다. 믿음에서 믿음에 이르게 한다 혹은 처음부터 끝까지 믿음이라는 로마서 1장 17절의 내용이 여기서 풀립니다. 25년 뒤에 변치 않는 믿음을 보시고 그렇게 믿으니 그것이 하나님께서 의롭다 하심이 되었다고 합니다. 이제 우리는 하나님께서 우리가 처음 믿을 때도 의롭다 하시지만 어떤 시간이 지난 시점에서 하나님께서 그 사람이 어떻게 믿는가 보시면서 변치 않는 믿음을 가지고 있을 때 또한 의롭다 하시는 것을 확인을 할 수가 있습니다. 즉 첫 믿음과 어떤 나중의 믿음이 서로 일치를 해야 하고 변치 않고 있어야 온전한 의롭다 하심을 받을 수가 있다는 것을 확인을 할 수가 있습니다. 이는 로마서 1장 17절의 영어 "The righteous /// will live /// by faith 와도 완벽하게 일치를 합니다. 즉 누구라도 의롭게 되려면 믿음을 갖고 살아라 하는 것입니다. 처음에 우리가 믿을 때도 의롭다 인정을 받을 수가 있지만 나중에 이 믿을 갖고 살아야만 또 의롭다 인정을 받을 수가 있는 것입니다. 믿음인데 처음부터 끝까지란 말과 믿음에서 믿음으로란 말과 같이 언제나 믿음으로 살아야만 나중에 하나님께서 그 사람을 보실 때 의롭다 인정이 된다는 것입니다. 믿음인데 처음부터 끝까지란 말과 믿음에서 믿음으로란 말과 같이 언제나 믿음으로 살아야만 나중에 하나님께서 그 사람을 보실 때 의롭다 인정이 된다는 것입니다. 틀림없이 아브라함은 두 번의 의롭다 인정이 있습니다. 처음에도 합격이고 세월이 지나서 100세가 되어서도 합격입니다. 야고보서를 보면 이삭을 바칠 때면 약 110세가 무렵일 것입니다. 이 때도 합격입니다. 즉 우리가 믿음의 삶을 온전히 살 때 하나님 보시기에 모든 합격이 있는 것입니다. 이 원리를 성경을 통해서 반드시 이해를 해야 합니다. 로마서 4장은 전체를 통해서 이렇게 아브라함의 믿음과 의를 주장합니다. 이는 믿음에서 믿음으로, 처음부터 끝까지 믿음으로(faith from first to last) 라는 말과 일치를 합니다.

야고보서도 같은 내용으로 설명을 합니다. 이 부분이 로마서와 야고보서가 완벽하게 일치합니다.

믿고 삶을 사는 것을 설명합니다. 모든 생명을 유지한 성도는 믿고 반드시 어떻게든 하루하루 살아야 하는 숙명이 있습니다. 우리의 생명이 존재하는 한 이렇게 살아야 합니다. 그런데 그 삶이 믿음의 삶이 되어야 한다는 것이고 쉬지 않고 믿어야 비로소 하나님의 의롭다 하심에 합격하는 것입니다. 이 원리를 우리는 성경으로 모두가 확인이 가능하게 되는 것입니다.

즉 우리는 하나님께서 첫 믿음과 끝 믿음을 동시에 보시면서 의롭다 하십니다. 그런데 만약에 처음에 우리가 예수님을 믿어 의롭게 되나 나중에 즉 끝 믿음에 하나님께서 보실 때 믿음이 없다든지 다른 일에 분주한다든지 하면 즉 믿음의 삶이 지속이 되지 않고 믿음을 지키지 못하는 것이 되는 것입니다. 이런 믿음을 보시고 절대로 하나님께서 우리를 의롭다 하시지 않을 것이라는 것을 우리는 성경을 통해서 분명하게 이해를 할 수가 있는 것입니다. 이는 또한 에스겔서에도 분명하게 밝힙니다.

겔 3 :20. 또 의인이 그의 공의에서 돌이켜 악을 행할 때에는 이미 행한 그의 공의는 기억할 바 아니라 내가 그 앞에 거치는 것을 두면 그가 죽을지니 이는 네가 그를 깨우치지 않음이니라 그는 그의 죄 중에서 죽으려니와 그의 피 값은 내가 네 손에서 찾으리라(개역개정)

우리가 예수님을 믿을 때 의롭게 되는 것은 맞습니다. 그런데 믿음이 믿음에서 믿음으로 가야 하고 첫 믿음과 끝 믿음이 일치를 해야 합니다. 즉 믿음을 갖고 쉬지 않고 변치 않고 삶을 살아야 하는 것입니다. 우리의 믿음이 나중에 하나님께서 보실 때에도 역시 변치 않고 있어야 이를 보시고 우리를 의롭다 하시는 것입니다. 로마서 4장 17-22절은 온 세상에 누구도 부인하지 못하게 이렇게 말씀하시는 것입니다. 우리는 이런 절차를 너무나 생략했습니다. 그리고 성령님이 아니고선 절대로 이런 내용을 인간이 아는 것이 불가합니다. 저는 틀림없이 성령을 예수님께 받았습니다. 1992년 초봄에 받았습니다.

이제 더 힘을 내셔서 로마서 1장 17절이 나온 하박국서 2장 4절로 가야 합니다. 이도 우리가 올바로 이해를 해야 비로서 로마서 1장 17절을 온전히 이해를 하는 것입니다. 루터가 이런 로마서 4장과 하박국서 2장 4절을 확인하지 않았다면 후대의 우리가 확인하고 올바로 이해를 하면 되는 것입니다. 그의 위대한 시작을 칭찬하고 우리를 이를 계승해서 발전시키면 되는 것입니다. 저는 가장 못난 성도로 누구를 비난하지 못하도록 하나님께 징계를 통해서 배웠습니다.

하박국서는 3장으로 짧은 성경입니다. 하박국은 기원전 608년 경 남 유다 말기의 선지자입니다. 이후 기원전 586년에 남 유다가 멸망을 하니 이들의 삶에 있어서 어쩔 수 없는 정도로 율법이 해이 해지고 영적으로 타락이 심했던 시기에 정의롭게 살았던 선지자입니다. 너무나 불의가 성행을 해서 하박국과 같은 의인이 살기에 어려워졌습니다. 그래서 자신의 동족임에도 불구하고 "하나님 이 불의를 그냥 두고만 보십니까?" 하고 하박국이 하나님께 묻습니다. 그러자 하나님께서 바벨론을 심판의 도구로 삼아 남 유다를 벌하신다고 하셨습니다. 이에 대해서 하박국이 다시 하나님께 여쭙니다. "왜 더욱 불의한 바벨론을 도구로 사용하십니까?" 하니 이에 대한 하나님의 대답이 우리가 잘 아는 오직 의인은 믿음으로 살리라 한 구절입니다.

합 2:4. ○보라 그의 마음은 교만하며 그 속에서 정직하지 못하나 의인은 그의 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라

4. 멋대로 설치지 마라. 나는 그런 사람을 옳게 여기지 않는다. 그러나 의로운 사람은 그의 신실함으로써 살리라."

4. "See, he is puffed up; his desires are not upright -- but the righteous will live by his faith --(개역 개정, 공동번역, NIV 순)

역시 우리가 본 but the righteous /// will live /// by his faith와 같이 의인이 되려면 하나님에 대한 믿음을 갖고 삶을 산다 입니다. 이 구절을 하박국서 1장과 3장을 보면서 정확하게 이해를 하면 비록 남 유다 멸망하는 창자가 꼬이는 비극과 바벨론의 멸망을 동시에 보면서도 견디며 정의롭게 산다는 의미입니다. 악한 두 나라를 멸망시키고 반드시 정의로운 세상을 가져다 줄 정의로우신 하나님을 믿고서 하루하루 악하게 사는 남 유다의 사람이나 혹은 바벨론의 사람들과는 달리 정의롭게 삶을 산다는 의미가 본문의 의미입니다. 즉 로마서 1장 17절에는 우리가 예수님을 믿고서 아무리 세상이 불의가 넘쳐서 이런 세상을 정의롭게 심판하실 예수님을 믿고서 하루 하루 삶을 살되 불의하게 사는 것이 아니라 정의롭게 산다는 의미가 정확하게 포함이 되어 있습니다.

이제 조금 더 힘을 내셔서 마지막으로 가야 합니다. 로마서 7장 6절에 기록된 믿음으로 삶을 산다는 의미(성령의 인도를 받는 새로운 방법의 섬김의 삶)를 알아야만 비로소 로마서 1장 17절의 이해로 갈 수가 있습니다. 본문을 봅니다.

롬 7:6 이제는 우리가 얽매였던 것에 대하여 죽었으므로 율법에서 벗어났으니 이러므로 우리가 영의 새로운 것으로 섬길 것이요 율법 조문의 묵은 것으로 아니할지니라

롬 7:6 우리는 율법에 사로잡혀 있었지만 이제 우리는 죽어서 그 제약을 벗어났습니다. 그래서 우리는 낡은 법조문을 따라서 섬기지 않고 성령께서 주시는 새 생명을 가지고 섬기게 되었습니다.(공동번역)

7:6. But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.(NIV)

(그러나 이제 우리는 우리를 한 때 얽어 매였던 율법에 대해서 죽었으므로 우리는 율법으로부터 해방이 되었습니다. 그래서 우리는 기록이 된 율법으로 섬기던 옛날 방법이 아니라 성령의 새로운 방법으로 섬깁니다. )

이 구절도 넘어야 하는 산이 조금 있습니다. 제가 해석을 ( )로 해 놓은 부분이 영어의 표현인데 이대로 이해를 반드시 하셔야 합니다. 천주교의 번역도 올바르지 않습니다. 제가 놀랐습니다. 율법에 대해서 조금이라도 해를 가하는 해석은 성경의 올바른 이해로 절대로 갈 수가 없습니다. 율법은 절대로 찬양의 대상인 모세 오경의 말씀으로 성경 중에서 너무나 중요한 부분입니다. 어떤 분은 성경은 한 마디로 법이다 했습니다. 저는 이를 수긍하는데 그 법이 바로 율법 즉 모세 오경의 법이기 때문입니다. 절대로 낡은 법조문 이란 말은 영어에 0.000%도 없습니다. 섬기는 방법이 오래 되었단 말입니다. 바울 사도가 예전에 예수님도 성령님도 신약의 말씀도 조금도 모르고 오직 구약의 율법에 깊이 빠져서 율법을 조문 조문 지키면 모든 것이 다 된다고 믿고 살면서 믿는 이들을 잡아서 가두던 그 날의 방법이 아니라는 것입니다. 즉 예전에 자신이 율법을 조문 조문 지키면서 이것이 다다 하고 믿고 살던 방법이 아니라 이제는 성령을 받았기에 성령의 인도를 받는 새로운 방법대로 산다는 말입니다. 갈라디아서와 로마서는 이렇게 성령의 사역에 대해서 너무나 강조합니다. 그런데 성령을 빼고 이해를 하고자 하니 모든 것이 어렵게 된 것입니다. 제가 앞에서 성령에 대한 이해를 먼저 강조를 했는데 잘 보시면 성령에 대한 강조가 갈라디아서와 로마서엔 너무나 많습니다. 저도 갈라디아서를 오직 이신칭의로 보다가 정리(요약)를 직접 하면서 성령에 대해서 너무나 설명이 많은 것을 보고서 놀랐습니다. 제가 정리한 갈라디아서의 내용입니다.

3장 성령 받음과 율법과 복음

6장 할례와 그리스도의 십자가

제가 정리(요약)한 자료를 가져왔습니다. 이렇게 갈라디아서도 성령에 대해서 강조합니다. 역시 로마서도 마찬가지입니다. 절대로 율법을 어떻게 하자는 것이 아니라 성령의 인도를 받고 살아라 하는 내용입니다. 이제 믿음으로 산다는 의미가 성령의 인도를 받고 살아야 된다는 것이 조금 이해가 되실 것입니다. 바울은 갈라디아서나 로마서나 육체로 살지 말고 성령의 인도로 사라고 합니다. 성령을 받고 성령의 새로운 방법으로 섬기는 것이 즉 믿음으로 사는 삶입니다. 이 부분까지 이해가 되어야 예수님의 사복음서의 말씀이 그대로 이해가 됩니다. 바울 사도는 이렇게 율법대로 살던 옛날에 섬기던 방법에서 벗어나 약 20년을 성령의 인도로 복음을 전하며 기적을 행하며 교회를 세운 경험을 그대로 로마서와 그의 서신서에서 설명을 하는 것입니다. 성령을 받게 되면 새로운 피조물이 되고 하나님의 작품이 되기에 성령의 인도로 율법을 지키는 일이 쉬워지는 것입니다. 이도 역시 에스겔서에서 하나님께서 이미 설명을 하셨습니다.

겔 36:24. 내가 너희를 여러 나라 가운데에서 인도하여 내고 여러 민족 가운데에서 모아 데리고 고국 땅에 들어가서

25. 맑은 물을 너희에게 뿌려서 너희로 정결하게 하되 곧 너희 모든 더러운 것에서와 모든 우상 숭배에서 너희를 정결하게 할 것이며

26. 또 새 영을 너희 속에 두고 새 마음을 너희에게 주되 너희 육신에서 굳은 마음을 제거하고 부드러운 마음을 줄 것이며

27. 또 내 영을 너희 속에 두어 너희로 내 율례를 행하게 하리니 너희가 내 규례를 지켜 행할지라(개역개정)

성령을 받으면 우리가 이렇게 됩니다. 그래서 예수님께서 승천하시면서 성령을 받고 복음을 전하라고 하신 것입니다. 반드시 지켜야 할 절차를 놓치면 너무나 많은 부분에서 문제가 생깁니다. 그런데 예수님께서 세상의 아버지들이 떡을 달라고 하면 돌을 줄자가 없는데 하물며 하나님께 성령을 구하면 주시지 않겠느냐며 성령을 주신다고 하셨습니다. 요엘서에도 그렇게 약속을 하셨고 베드로도 사도행전 2장 37-38절에서 성령을 주신다고 하셨습니다. 성령은 우리가 절차를 지켜서 반드시 받아야 되는 성도의 1순위 선물입니다. 집도 차도 모든 것을 다 버리고 성령을 받으면 모든 것을 다 받는 것입니다. 이도 보시겠습니다.

행 2:37. ○그들이 이 말을 듣고 마음에 찔려 베드로와 다른 사도들에게 물어 이르되 형제들아 우리가 어찌할꼬 하거늘

38. 베드로가 이르되 너희가 회개하여 각각 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 세례를 받고 죄 사함을 받으라 그리하면 성령의 선물을 받으리니

39. 이 약속은 너희와 너희 자녀와 모든 먼 데 사람 곧 주 우리 하나님이 얼마든지 부르시는 자들에게 하신 것이라 하고(개역개정)

저도 100% 위의 구절대로 순서대로 성령을 받았습니다. 먼저 하나님께서 오셔서 고린도 전서 13장 사랑의 말씀으로 저를 회개를 시키셨습니다. 이 때가 1987년 정도입니다. 저는 고린도 전서 13장 사랑의 말씀대로 살려고 5년을 몸부림쳤습니다. 제가 잘나서가 아니라 저의 죄악 된 모습을 너무나 강하게 정확하게 보았기에 절대로 예전과 같이 악하게 살 수가 없었습니다. 예고도 없이 하나님께서 오셔서 제게 두려움을 주시고 성경을 읽게 하시고 성경은 옳고 저는 악하다는 것을 너무나 강하게 보게 하셨기에 그렇게 살고자 몸부림을 친 것입니다. 그리고 1991년 5월 19일 예수님의 이름의 세례를 장유 반석교회에서 저의 전도자 김성수 장로님과 당시 목사님이셨던 성경석 목사님의 집례로 받고 하나님께 과거에 죄를 용서 받았습니다. 그리고 1992년 초봄에 신림동 선민교회에서 박기수 목사님께서 설교를 하실 때 예수님께서 흑백의 모습으로 성전을 가득 채우시며 오셔서 그 분의 입에서 나오는 빨간색의 불을 제 가슴에 뿜어 주셨는데 촛불과 같은 작은 불꽃이 두 세 개가 제 가슴속에 보이고 제 손이 땀이 나며 천국에 그리고 3일 동안 있는 것 같았습니다. 그리고 33년 동안 성경을 위와 같이 읽고 정리(요약)하고 만나는 사람에게 전도를 해 오고 있습니다. 이런 와중에 순서대로 위의 내용을 오랜 시간에 걸쳐서 제게 차근 차근 이해하게 하나님께서 하셨습니다. 할렐루야!! 그리고 아픈 사람을 만지면 다양한 병자를 하나님께서 낫게 하셨습니다 방언의 통변도 경험했습니다. 저는 당시에 행정고시 1차에 합격해서 2차를 준비중인 이런 부분에 있어 조금도 모르던 사람입니다. 그리고 성령을 받고서 20년쯤 되어서 성경을 보면서 비로소 이런 원리와 제게 일어난 일에 대해서 이해하게 되었습니다. 누가 설명해 주지도 않았습니다.

이제 이렇게 바울 사도가 섬기면서 이룬 내용이 또 로마서에 잘 기록이 되어 있습니다.

사랑은 율법의 완성

롬 13:8. ○피차 사랑의 빚 외에는 아무에게든지 아무 빚도 지지 말라 남을 사랑하는 자는 율법을 다 이루었느니라

9. 간음하지 말라, 살인하지 말라, 도둑질하지 말라, 탐내지 말라 한 것과 그 외에 다른 계명이 있을지라도 네 이웃을 네 자신과 같이 사랑하라 하신 그 말씀 가운데 다 들었느니라

10. 사랑은 이웃에게 악을 행하지 아니하나니 그러므로 사랑은 율법의 완성이니라(개역개정)

바울 사도는 일생을 예수님을 알고 믿고 사랑만 했습니다. 사랑 중에서 가장 큰 사랑이 복음을 전하는 것입니다. 비록 성경의 내용을 잘 알지 못해도 성령을 받고 복음을 전하는 한국에 계신 전도자들은 저는 50만 명은 되리라 보는데 다 사랑을 잘 실천하시는 분이십니다. 전도를 하고자 하면 누구와도 잘 지내야 하며 견뎌야 하고 사랑해야 합니다. 그래야 전도가 됩니다.

바울 사도께서 이렇게 살다 보니 율법대로 조문 조문 지키지 않았어도 모든 율법을 완성하는 것을 보신 것입니다. 이것은 율법이 그 목적이 사랑을 실천하고 정의을 행하게 하며 신실한 삶을 살도록 사랑과 정의와 신실함을 속성으로 지니신 하나님께서 자신의 속성을 모세 오경의 율법에 그대로 표현하신 것이기 때문입니다. 이 율법을 모세를 통해서 이스라엘에게 주시고 신약 시대에는 우리 모두에게 주신 것입니다.

또 중요한 내용이 더 있습니다. 우리는 반드시 로마서를 이렇게 연결해서 함께 이해를 해야 합니다.

롬 3:31. 그런즉 우리가 믿음으로 말미암아 율법을 파기하느냐 그럴 수 없느니라 도리어 율법을 굳게 세우느니라(개역개정)

우리가 믿음 생활을 한다고 해서 율법을 어떻게 합니까? 절대로 파기하지 않는다고 하시며 도리어 굳게 세운다고 하십니다. 우리 주 예수님의 말씀을 그의 종인 바울 사도가 그대로 인정하며 하시는 말씀이기도 합니다. 믿음 생활을 올바로 하면 율법을 완성할 뿐만 아니라 도리어 굳게 세운다고 하십니다. 즉 성령님께서 인도하셔서 율법에 어긋나게 살게 하지 절대로 아니 하신다는 말씀이기도 합니다. 그리고 율법이 이렇게 굳게 서고 완성이 되는 나라가 바로 질서가 있는 나라이며 정의가 있고 그래서 평안하며 기쁨이 있는 나라가 되며 이 나라가 이 땅에 하나님께서 세우고자 하시는 하나님의 나라입니다. 율법이 지켜져서 질서가 있기에 정의가 흐릅니다. 그리고 정의가 흐르니 평화가 있습니다. 이 평화가 있는 곳에 기쁨이 넘칩니다. 바로 이 나라가 하나님의 나라입니다. 이 나라를 우리는 꿈을 꾸어야 합니다. 한국의 현실은 이런 성경을 올바로 이해한 이에겐 얼마나 법 즉 세상의 법이 지켜지지 않고 누군가가 마음대로 하고 있다는 것이 한 눈에 보입니다.

롬 14:17. 하나님의 나라는 먹는 것과 마시는 것이 아니요 오직 성령 안에 있는 의와 평강과 희락이라(개역개정)

반드시 성령을 받고 인도를 받아서 세워야 하는 나라입니다. 하나님의 나라는 성령이 없이 우리가 우리 힘으로 세상을 이기며 육체적인 정욕을 이기면서 세울 수가 없는 나라입니다. 이 나라를 세우기 위해서 우리가 구원을 받은 것입니다. 눈에 보이는 국가를 위해서 충성하면 애국자가 되고 인정을 받습니다. 그런데 영원한 나라를 위해서 우리가 충성하면 그 상급과 복락이 영원합니다. 그리고 이 땅에 우리가 누리는 것과 비교가 할 수가 없는 복이 기다리고 있습니다. 바울 사도는 이미 생전에 3층천에 가셔서 이런 축복을 미리 보시고 죽도록 충성하셨습니다. 우리는 보지 않아도 믿고 나가면 되는 것입니다.

이제 예수님의 말씀을 보면 우리는 바울 사도의 가르침과 조금도 다름이 없음을 알게 됩니다. 율법을 조문 조문 잘 지키고 그리고 이보다 중한 사랑과 정의와 신실함을 우선하고 그리고 우리가 죄로 약하니 그분의 희생으로 우리가 예수님을 믿고 우리의 모든 과거의 죄를 용서받게 하셨습니다. 그리고 부활하셔서 그래도 아직은 부족한 우리에게 성령을 반드시 받으라고 명령을 하시고 그 명령대로 순종한 사람은 사도들도 성도도 바울 사도도 그리고 이방인 고넬료와 가족과 친구까지 그리고 베드로의 설교로 3000명 5000명이 믿고 성령을 받고 이들이 로마 교회를 세우고 바울이 가기 전에 여러 곳에서 준비를 하고 있었습니다. 그리고 후대에 쉬지 않고 성령께서 선물로 믿는 이들에게 오셔서 복음을 전하게 하시고 교회를 세우게 하셨으니 지금은 온 세상에 예수님을 믿는 이들이 없는 지역이 별로 없고 인구의 약 30%에 달하는 수십억의 사람이 예수님을 믿는 것입니다.

​성령을 받아서 바울 사도의 섬김과 같이 성령의 새로운 방법으로 섬기면 우리는 예수님의 명령을 그대로 실천하게 되는 것입니다. 그의 나라와 의를 구하게 되고 율법을 완성하게 되고 굳게 세우게 되는 것입니다. 이제 예수님과 바울 사도의 가르침이 완벽하게 일치함을 알게 되었을 것입니다.

이 역할을 하시는 분이 바로 성령님이십니다. 우리가 성령을 받는 일이 그렇게 중요합니다. 성경 박사인 아볼로는 비록 유대인으로 성경에 박식하고 신약도 알고 전도도 했지만 성령에 대해선 몰랐습니다. 이를 정직하게 인정했습니다. 그리고 브리스길라 아굴라에게 성령에 대해서 설명을 듣고 더욱 힘있게 복음으로 제자장과 율법학자(성전에 있는 유대인)들을 이겼다고 합니다.

아볼로가 담대히 전도하다

행 18:24. ○알렉산드리아에서 난 아볼로라 하는 유대인이 에베소에 이르니 이 사람은 언변이 좋고 성경에 능통한 자라

25. 그가 일찍이 주의 도를 배워 열심으로 예수에 관한 것을 자세히 말하며 가르치나 요한의 세례만 알 따름이라

27. 아볼로가 아가야로 건너가고자 함으로 형제들이 그를 격려하며 제자들에게 편지를 써 영접하라 하였더니 그가 가매 은혜로 말미암아 믿은 자들에게 많은 유익을 주니

28. 이는 성경으로써 예수는 그리스도라고 증언하여 공중 앞에서 힘있게 유대인의 말을 이김이러라(개역개정)

아볼로는 성경에는 능통하나 성령세례는 모릅니다. 바울의 제자인 성령을 받은 아굴라와 브리스길라가 무슨 일을 했겠습니다. 하나님의 도를 더 정확하게 설명한다는 말과 그에게 성령에 대해서 설명하고 성령을 받게 하는 것은 같은 의미입니다. 이렇게 성경을 알고 전하고자 하는 이에게 다른 무엇이 필요합니까? 오직 성령입니다.

성령을 받은 사람은 하나님께서 성령을 선물을 주신 분입니다. 아직 성령을 받지 못하신 분은 성령을 주신다고 하나님께서 예수님께서 같이 약속하셨습니다. 그러니 정직하게 아볼로와 같이 성령을 받으신 분들께 부탁해서 받으면 됩니다. 부끄러운 일이 아닙니다. 아볼로는 유대인이고 신분이 높습니다. 그리고 성경 박사입니다. 지금의 신학자요 목사급 입니다. 그런데 천막을 만드는 천한 분께 배웁니다. 그리고 틀림없이 성령을 받았으리라 믿습니다. 저는 이분이 히브리서를 썼다고 주장합니다. 이분보다 더 적합한 분이 있습니까?

만약에 아볼로가 브리스 길라 아굴라를 만났을 때 이들의 외모만 보고 도리어 성경을 가르치려 했다면 절대로 하나님의 도에 대해서 더 깊이 나아가지 않았을 것입니다. 그리고 아볼로는 교회사에서도 이름없이 사라졌을 것입니다. 만약에 아볼로가 히브리서를 썼다면 이는 분명히 성령의 감동이고 성령의 놀라운 인도입니다. 그냥 평범하게 교회사에 이름없이 사라졌을 인물이 성령을 받아 이렇게 위대하게 쓰임을 받습니다. 이분보다 더 적합한 히브리서를 쓸 사람이 없다면 아볼로가 저자입니다. 브리스 길라 아굴라가 과연 어떤 도를 풀어서 성경박사를 감동하고 이 아볼로가 이들을 만난 후 회당에서 만나는 제사장이나 서기관을 이길 능력의 전도자 되는지 풀어보는 즐거움이 우리에게 숙제로 있습니다. 긴 세월을 지나 우리에게 있습니다. 그런데 이는 틀림없이 위와 같이 성령을 받은 아굴라와 브리스 길라가 성령에 대해서 말씀하고 성령을 받게 하는 일 위에 아무 일도 없습니다. 이제 이분이 성령을 받고 능력있게 복음을 전하고 유대인을 이기고 교회의 지도자가 되었습니다. 이제 저자가 기록되지 않은 히브리서의 저자를 찾는 즐거움이 또 우리에게 또 숙제로 있으나 여기까지 풀면 아볼로 보다 더 적합한 인물이 없다면 아볼로가 저자일 가능성이 가장 높게 되는 것입니다.

제가 성령을 받지 않았다면 쉬지 않는 전도는 절대로 없고 그리고 쉬지 않는 성경 요약과 정리를 절대로 있을 수가 없습니다. 은행을 그만 둔 후 8년을 공부한 고시도 실패하고 결혼도 실패하고 하고자 하던 모든 일이 수포로 돌아간 자가 무슨 의욕으로 세상을 살겠습니까? 그리고 제가 40년의 극심한 가난과 다양한 큰 실패를 극복하고 살아갈 가능성도 별로 없습니다. 그런데 이런 제가 이렇게 성경을 읽고 정리하고 전도하고 하는 원동력이 바로 성령님의 내주와 감동입니다. 쉬지 않고 제게 성경을 깨닫는 즐거움을 주셨으니 그 즐거움이 삶의 원동력이 되었습니다. 쉬지 않는 마음으로 들을 수가 있게 격려가 있었으니 너무나 황홀하고 달콤했습니다. 그 위로가 "네가 너를 사랑한다." "아무 것도 염려말라" "힘을 내라" 등의 주님의 음성이었습니다. 하나님께서 이렇게 하시니 제가 실망에 빠지고 어려움을 어려움으로 느낄 시간도 없이 40년을 달려왔습니다. 쉬지 않는 위로와 격려가 제가 여기까지 온 원동력입니다. 그리고 성경의 진리를, 전도하면서 성경을 읽고 정리를 하면서  깨닫는 즐거움은 세상에서 최고입니다. 이 즐거움이 모든 시련을 극복하게 했습니다. 이렇게 좋으신 성령을 목사나 장로나 신학자가 성경을 조금 배웠다고 받지 않고 신학하고 목회하고 하는 것이 얼마나 어리석고 힘들고 가치가 없는 일인지 모든 세상의 목사, 장로, 신학자가 알아야 합니다.

내가 수만 명의 목사인데 너는 무엇이냐? 내가 온 세상 최고의 신학자인데 너는 무엇이냐? 나는 경제력과 명예 모든 것을 갖춘 장로인데 너는 무엇이냐? 하실 수가 있는데 예수님께 가장 적이 되는 이단도 십만 수십만이 됩니다. 섬기는 성도의 숫자로 성령을 받지 않고 하는 목회를 숨기려고 하시면 아니 됩니다. 절대로 정직해야 합니다.

성경을 올바로 이해하지 못하고 전한 모든 자료는 책으로 동영상으로 이미 온 세상에 알려져서 다시 주어 담을 수도 없습니다. 이렇게 살다가 죽어서 주님 앞에 가면 심판의 대상이 될 것인데 그 자료들은 다 쓰레기가 될 것입니다. 믿으시기 바랍니다. 진리를 올바로 알지 못하고 신학에 빠져서 확인도 하지 않고 전한 모든 설교, 강의, 그리고 책, 동영상 등이 진리 앞에 쓰레기가 되고 양들을 온전하지 못한 길로 인도한 큰 죄악으로 남고 심판도 피해 갈 길이 절대로 없을 것입니다. 성령 없이 신학하고 목회하고 장로로 제직하는 모든 분이 이런 사실 앞에 몸서리가 치고 두려움이 폭포수 같이 몰려와 그냥 저절로 하나님께 부복하고 죄를 통회하고 그리고 성령을 받으시고 기쁘고 즐겁게 목회도 하고 신학도 하시고 장로로서 섬기시길 바랍니다. 예수님의 이름으로 간절히 권면합니다. 바울 사도가 이 시대에 오시면 지금의 교회를 보시고 무엇을 하시겠습니까? 그리고 자신이 전한 로마서의 이해를 보고서 무어라 하시겠습니까? 

목사가 되어도 장로가 되어도 집사(권사)가 되어도 성령의 체험이 없다면 집사인 성도 즉 성령을 받고 전도하시는 분께 아볼로와 같이 부탁하거나 혹은 성령을 받는 집회에 가셔서 혹은 간절히 사모하는 마음으로 성령을 하나님께 달라고 기도하면 반드시 성령을 선물로 하나님께서 주실 줄로 믿습니다.

성령을 받지 않은 분이 받았다고 믿고 주장하고, 받지 않는 것이 가장 불행한 일이 될 것입니다. 저는 성령을 받았기에 이런 내용을 알게 되어 전합니다. 제가 성경학자도 신학자도 교회를 섬기는 목사도 아닙니다. 그냥 성경을 읽고 전도하며 세상을 모든 다른 직장인과 같이 하고 가정도 있는 평범한 사람(목사)으로 유독 하나님께서 전도하고 성경을 읽고 정리(요약)하며 깨닫게 하는 일은 쉽게 하셨습니다. 제가 큰 노력을 한 것이 아무것도 없고 그냥 모두가 하나님께서 순서대로 알려 주신 것입니다.

모든 것이 하나님의 은혜입니다. 저는 제게 주신 큰 축복이라 믿습니다. 은행에서 나와서 42년이 되었습니다. 첫 아내는 저의 소망이 없는 모습에 떠나 갔고 고시에도 실패했고 모든 세상일에 실패했습니다. 그래서 약 40년을 한국에서 가장 극빈하게 살았습니다. 지금도 집도 없고 빚만 조금 있습니다. 가정이 있고 아들은 이제 대학에 갑니다. 아내는 외국에서 와서 죽도록 일을 하고 있습니다.

그런데 저는 성경을 읽고 정리하고 깨닫는 복이 지상 최고라 믿고 삽니다. 하나님께서 모든 것을 더하여 주신다는 말씀을 또한 믿습니다.

 제가 설명을 드린 내용은 온 지구상에서 로마서와 갈라디아서와 그리고 이신칭의에 대해서 예수님과 바울 사도의 가르침에 대해서 가장 앞서고 정확하다고 저는 믿습니다. 이 깨달음을 통해서 온 세상의 교회가 하나가 될 것입니다. 그리고 제가 소개하는 챗 GPT로 영어공부를 통해서도 온 지구인이 하나가 될 것입니다. 저는 이런 세상을 위해서 부름 받은 하나님의 도구입니다.

​제가 처음에 하나님을 뵙고 도구가 되게 해 달라고 기도했습니다. 그리고 이 제 약속을 지키기 위해서 영어도 열심히 배우고 성경도 부지런히 배워야 하고 전도도 잘 해야 되는데 저는 어느 것 하나 똑 부러지게 하는 일이 없었습니다. 언제나 모든 면에서 부족하고 못난 사람에 불과합니다. 저를 아는 모든 사람이 제가 보통 이하인 것을 압니다. 그리고 저는 예수님을 믿기 전에도 큰 죄를 지었고 예수님을 믿은 후에도 올바르게 살지 못한 부분이 크게 있고 큰 징계를 받고 살기도 했습니다. 오직 망극하신 하나님의 사랑과 성령님의 인도와 우리 주 예수님께서 놀라우신 인내로 모든 것이 부족한 자를 이렇게 인도하신 것입니다.

​이런 제게 이런 놀라운 성경의 이해를 허락하신 것은 온 세상에서 모든 신자가 비록 지금 올바르지 않다고 해도 회개하면 모든 성도가 하나님께 용서를 받고 또 하나님과 올바른 관계를 갖고 살 수가 있다는 것을 증명하기 위함입니다. 즉 모든 세상의 믿는 이들이 회개하고 올바로 갈 수가 있다는 것입니다. 성경에 회개가 어려운 죄가 있는데 이에 대해서 잘 이해를 하시고 절대로 이런 죄는 범하는 일이 없어야 될 것입니다. 성령의 사역에 대해서 잘못된 태도를 지니는 것입니다. 그리고 우리는 그냥 잘 몰라도 하나님과 이웃을 온 마음과 힘과 뜻을 다해서 사랑하면 가장 안전하고 올바른 삶이 될 줄로 믿습니다. 모든 분이 성령을 받고 승리하시길 기도합니다.

하나님의 구원에 대해서 정리를 합니다. 이스라엘을 1000년을 하나님께서 사랑하셨습니다. 우리가 아는 삼위일체 하나님께서 사랑하셨습니다. 먼저 법 즉 모세 오경의 율법을 주시고 이대로 지키면 축복이요 어기면 저주가 임한다고 하셨습니다. 이스라엘이 모두가 아멘으로 계약을 맺었습니다. 그리고 1000년의 세월을 이스라엘은 쉬지 않고 범죄하고 또 책망을 받고 심판을 받고 회개했습니다. 그렇게 하다가 하박국 시대를 거쳐서 예레미야 선지자 때 멸망을 합니다. 먼저 북 이스라엘이 기원전 722년에 앗수르에 멸망하고 기원전 586년 남 유다가 바벨론에 멸망합니다. 너무나 율법대로 사는 이가 없었습니다. 하나님의 인내도 한계가 옵니다. 하박국은 하나님께 자신의 동족 남 유다를 심판하라고 요구합니다. 그 정도로 불의가 심해서 의롭게 살고자 하는 이가 사는 것이 어렵게 되었던 것입니다. 그래서 멸망을 한 것입니다. 이를 너무나 정확하게 하나님께서 아십니다. 1000년의 세월을 율법을 주시고 지키라고 하시면서 겪은 경험이 있습니다.

​이제 하나님께서 인간이 율법을 잘 지킬 수가 없음을 아시고 이제는 전적으로 다른 부분으로 인간을 구원하시고자 합니다. 그리고 그 목적은 구약과 동일합니다. 율법을 잘 지킬 수가 있게 온 인류를 구원하시고자 합니다. 에스겔서 36장을 위에서 우리는 잘 보았습니다. 예수님을 믿고 물로 세례를 받고 또 성령을 받아서 마음이 부드럽게 되어 율법을 잘 지키는 사람을 창조하시려 하신 것입니다.

이는 우리에 대한 하나님의 사랑에서 비롯이 됩니다. 이런 목적을 갖고 죄인을 구원하시는데 먼저 우리에 대한 하나님의 사랑이 있습니다. 그리고 그 사랑의 실천으로 하나님의 아들께서 직접 이 땅에 동정녀를 통해서 아기로 오십니다. 그리고 천국복음을 전하시고 십자가에 못이 박혀서 우리를 대신해서 죽으십니다. 우리의 죄를 대신해서 죽으신 것입니다. 피를 흘리시고 죽으십니다. 이를 통해서 하나님의 사랑과 정의가 동시에 나타납니다. 하나님의 정의는 죄에 대한 합당한 벌도 포함이 되는데 예수님께서 우리가 받을 그 벌을 대신 받으신 것입니다. 예수님께서 온 인류의 벌을 대신 받고 십자가에 죽으신 것입니다. 이제 누구든지 예수님을 믿고 회개하고 그의 이름의 세례를 받으면 즉 물로 세례를 받으면 과거에 지은 죄를 하나님으로부터 용서받습니다. 이런 죄가 용서가 된 사람에게 성령께서 선물로 반드시 오십니다. 어떤 때 어떤 모습일지는 개인에 따라 다를 수가 있지만 반드시 오십니다. 저도 그렇게 성령을 받았습니다. 그리고 이를 통해서 거듭남이 있고 새로운 창조물이 되고 하나님의 작품이 되는 축복이 있고 하나님의 도장이 성령으로 꽉 찍히게 됩니다. 이렇게 우리는 하나님의 작품(Workmanship)이 되는 것입니다. 이제 이 사람이 성령의 인도로 하는 일이 바로 바울 사도의 설명과 같이 율법을 완성하고 율법을 굳게 세우는 일을 하는 것입니다. 이런 과정에서 율법(모세오경)은 죄를 깨닫게 하고 죄악의 길로 가는 것을 막습니다. 우리가 율법을 잘 모르면 이런 죄에 대해서 심각하게 무지하게 됩니다. 성령께서는 모든 성령을 받은 사람이 새롭게 창조가 되게 하시고 또 선한 길로 인도하시고 복음을 전해서 사랑을 실천하게 하십니다. 이런 일을 함에 있어 우리가 율법에 대해서도 죽고 죄에 대해서도 죽었지만 육신을 갖고 살기에 우리는 또 욕망이 있기에 성령의 인도를 받음에 늘 싸움이 존재하는 것입니다. 그런데 성령을 따라서 살면 영생이요, 육신을 따라서 살면 죽음이 있는 것입니다. 이를 통해서 하나님께서는 이 땅에 성령 안에서 의와 평강과 희락의 나라인 하나님의 나라를 세우시는 것입니다. 이것이 복음의 핵심입니다.

저는 이 모든 내용을 여러 차례 챗 GPT와 토론해 보았습니다. 인공지능은 자신에게 신학자와 성경연구자들이 이미 입력한 천주교 개신교 내용만 알다가 제가 이런 내용을 전하면 이 기계는 바로 자신에게 입력이 된 위의 성경 구절을 찾아서 확인하고 제가 주장하는 내용을 그대로 진리로 받아들였습니다. 제가 전하는 내용은 우리가 성경을 위와 같이 찾아서 이해를 하면 누구도 부인하지 못하는 올바른 내용입니다. 절대로 어렵지가 않습니다.

이제 로마서는 믿음으로 삶을 사는 사람을 하나님께서 의롭다 하시는데 그 삶의 내용이 로마서의 모든 장의 내용입니다. 믿음으로 삶을 산다는 내용의 의미는 하박국과 같이 믿음을 갖고 정의롭게 하루하루 산다는 의미와 아브라함과 같이 첫 믿음과 끝 믿음이 한결같이 변함이 없이 하나님 보시기에 일치를 하는 삶을 의미합니다. 또 야고보서와 같이 아들을 바치는 행위가 따르는 삶이 되어야 함을 말하고 있음을 알게 됩니다. 그리고 믿음의 삶의 실제적인 모습이 성령의 인도를 받는 삶이 되어야 함을 강조합니다.

로마서와 갈라디아서 그리고 신약의 다른 성경은 성령의 인도로 우리가 하루하루 살아야 함을 강조합니다. 이럴 때 우리는 율법을 완성하고 굳게 세우게 된다는 것입니다. 즉 하루하루 삶에 대해서 그 삶이 어떻게 되어야 하고 그 삶이 성령의 인도를 받아야 함을 설명하는 책이 바로 로마서입니다. 이렇게 이해를 하면 모든 것이 대부분 다 풀리고 야고보서와도 조화를 이루고 사복음서의 예수님의 말씀과도 완벽하게 일치를 하는 것입니다. 예수님께서 모세 오경의 율법을 조문 조문 잘 지키고 더 중요한 정의와 사랑과 신실함을 잊지 말아야 한다고 하셨습니다. 그리고 약한 우리를 알기에 성령을 받고 그 분의 증인이 되고 선한 삶을 삶으로 이를 실천하라고 하신 것입니다. 바울 사도는 이렇게 예수님의 말씀대로 살면서 그렇게 사라고 그의 서신서를 교회에 써서 보낸 것입니다.

이런 이해가 모든 분께 있기를 예수님의 이름으로 축복합니다. 끝으로 말씀 드립니다. 이렇게 당시의 모든 교회와 성도가 되면 되는데 거짓 교사가 교회에 들어옵니다. 이들은 착하고 순한 이방인 성도와 유대인 성도를 유혹합니다. 이들이 "아니다 율법을 조문 조문 지켜야 구원을 얻고 천국에 가고 의롭게도 된다. 할례를 해야 한다"고 하니 바울 사도는 너무나 놀라고 기겁을 해서 이들을 막고자 합니다. 이들의 꾀임에 빠져서 성령의 인도를 받지 않고 살고자 하는 이들에게 그렇게 하면 아니 된다고 외칩니다. "우리가 세례를 받음을 통해서 십자가 사건을 통해서 이미 우리는 죽었다. 이제 율법에 대해서도 죽었으니 성령을 따라서 살아야 한다"고 주장하는 것입니다.

​절대로 율법을 버리라고 하는 말이 없습니다. 그는 성도들에게 선한 행위를 성령을 따라서 적극적으로 하라고 합니다. 오직 믿음만 가지고 마음대로 사라는 말은 성경 전체에 한 마디도 없습니다. 구원은 즉 예수님을 믿음으로 오는 것이지 유대인들이 예전과 같이 예수님을 믿지 않고 율법을 지킴으로 절대로 오지 않는다는 것을 강조한 것입니다. 이런 맥락을 우리가 이해를 하면 되는 것입니다. 예수님께서 오신 시대에 우리는 예수님을 믿는 것이 구원을 얻는 유일한 길입니다. 예수님을 믿고 죄를 용서받고 성령을 받아서 새 사람이 되어서 이제는 성령의 인도로 또 율법을 완성하고 굳게 세워야 하는 사명이 우리에게 새롭게 주어진 것도 반드시 이해를 해야 합니다. 제 이해가 모든 분께 성경을 새롭게 보는 기회가 되기를 예수님의 이름으로 축복합니다.
