함께 가야 할 좋은 동반자란...
A good companion to go with...

골프에서 함께 공을 치는 네(4) 사람을 한 팀이나 한 조라고 하지

않고 동반자라고 부른다. 아마 5시간 이상을 함께 한 방향으로 가야 

하고, 공감해야 할 사람들이기 때문인 것 같다. 순전히 내 생각이지만 

좋은 골프장보다 좋은 동반자와 함께 할 때, 훨씬 편하고 즐겁다.
Four (4) people who play golf together are not called a team or a group, but rather companions.

 I think it's because they have to go together in the same direction for more than 5 hours,

 and they have to empathize with each other. It's just my opinion, but
it's much more comfortable and enjoyable to play with a good companion than a good golf course.

심판이 없는 유일한 스포츠 골프는 예절과 공정이 몸에 밴 동반자가 

매우 중요한 것 같다는 생각이다. 영국의 한 신문사에서 퀴즈를 냈다. 
"런던에서 맨체스터로 가장 빨리 가는 방법은 무엇인가?"
두둑한 상금 욕심에 많은 사람이 응모에 나섰다.
Golf is the only sport without referees.

 I think that having a companion who is ingrained with etiquette 

and fairness is very important. A British newspaper posed a quiz.
"What is the fastest way to get from London to Manchester?"
Many people applied for the contest because of the large prize money.

물리학자, 수학자, 설계사, 회사원, 학생들이 저마다 기발한 해답을 

제시했다. 하지만 수많은 경쟁자를 제치고 1등을 차지한 답안은 

이러했다. ‘좋은 친구와 함께 가는 것’이었다.
사람의 인생길은 멀고 험할 때가 많다.
Physicists, mathematicians, designers, office workers, 

and students all came up with unique answers. But the answer that won first place, 

beating out countless competitors, was this: ‘Going with a good friend.’

 The path of a person’s life is often long and arduous.

그래서 우리는 날씨가 좋을 적 맑은 날 주막에 이르는 손님보다는,
폭풍우 속에서 비바람을 헤치고 온 사람을 더 따뜻하게 환영하는지도

 모른다. 우리 삶에는 이렇게 비바람이 불고 천둥이 치는 날이 많다.
그 길을 무사히 행복하게 가자면 첫째로 가족, 친구, 동료
이런 여행의 좋은 '동반자'가 꼭 있어야 한다.
So, we may be more warmly welcoming to a guest who has braved the wind 

and rain to arrive at the inn on a clear day when the weather is good.

 Our lives are full of days like this when there is wind and rain and thunder. 

In order to travel safely and happily, first of all, we must have good 'companions'

 for this kind of journey: family, friends, and colleagues.

'라피크(Rafik)'란' 먼 길을 함께 가야 할 동반자'라는 뜻의 아랍어 

'RAFIK'이다. 좋은 동반자란 '상호 간에 공감이 가는 사람, 함께

느낄 수 있고, 함께 한 방향을 바라볼 수 있는 사람'일 것이다.
좋은 동반자가 취할 행동은 아마도 상대방의 입장에 서서
함께 행동하는 그런 경우일 것이다.
'Rafik' is an Arabic word meaning 'a companion to go a long way with'.

 A good companion is 'a person who has mutual sympathy, a person who can feel together,

 and a person who can look in the same direction together'. 

The actions of a good companion are probably those that stand in the other person's shoes and act together.

이것이 좋은 동반자의 조건이 아닐까 생각한다. 개인이든 국가든 

좋은 동반자의 필수 조건은 공감이다. 베토벤의 성공엔 이런 공감의

 동반자가 있었다. 그의 어머니였다..... 천둥 치는 어느 날, 소년 

베토벤이 마당에서 혼자 비를 맞고 있었다. 소년은 나뭇잎에 스치는
비와 바람의 교향곡에 흠뻑 빠져 있었다. 어머니는 그런 아들에게
집으로 빨리 들어오라고 소리치지 않았다.
I think this is the condition of a good companion. Whether it is an individual or a country,
the essential condition for a good companion is empathy.

 Beethoven's success was due to this kind of empathetic companion. It was his mother..... 

One thunderous day, the boy Beethoven was standing alone in the yard in the rain. 

The boy was completely absorbed in the symphony of the rain and wind rustling through the leaves.

The mother did not shout at her son to come home quickly.

아들이 있는 곳으로 걸어가 꼭 껴안아 주었다. 함께 비를 맞으며 “그래, 

아름다운 자연의 소리를 함께 들어보자고 말했다고 한다.... 아들은 신이 났다. 
“엄마, 새소리가 들려요. 저 새는 어떤 새죠? 왜 울고 있어요?”
어머니는 폭우처럼 쏟아지는 아들의 질문에 다정하게 응대했다.
위대한 베토벤의 교향곡은 아마 그때 밀알처럼 싹이 돋았는지도 모른다.
She walked to where her son was and hugged him tightly. They say she said, “Yes,

 let’s listen to the beautiful sounds of nature together while getting wet together in the rain.... 

The son was excited. “Mom, I can hear a bird. What kind of bird is that? Why is it crying?”
The mother responded affectionately to her son’s questions that poured down like a downpour.
Perhaps the great Beethoven’s symphony sprouted like a grain of wheat at that time.

사람은 누구나 좋은 동반자를 원한다. 인생길에서 그런 사람을 만나기란 

하늘의 별 따기, 말처럼 쉽지 않다. 그러나 방법이 있다..... 바로 나 스스로 가

먼저 ‘좋은 동반자’가 되어 주는 것이다. 홀로 비를 맞는 상대에게 

다가가 함께 비를 맞아 주는 것이다.

Everyone wants a good companion. It is not easy to meet such a person on the path of life,
like picking stars from the sky. However, there is a way.....

It is to become a ‘good companion’ yourself first. To the person who is getting rained on alone,
approach them and get rained on together.
