마음 성전(I)

(벧전 2:4-10) “[4] 사람에게는 버린 바가 되었으나 하나님께는 택하심을 입은 보배로운 산 돌이신 예수에게 나아와 [5] 너희도 산 돌 같이 신령한 집으로 세워지고 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님이 기쁘게 받으실 신령한 제사를 드릴 거룩한 제사장이 될지니라 [6] 경에 기록하였으되 보라 내가 택한 보배롭고 요긴한 모퉁이 돌을 시온에 두노니 저를 믿는 자는 부끄러움을 당치 아니하리라 하였으니 [7] 그러므로 믿는 너희에게는 보배이나 믿지 아니하는 자에게는 건축자들의 버린 그 돌이 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 되고 [8] 또한 부딪히는 돌과 거치는 반석이 되었다 하니라 저희가 말씀을 순종치 아니하므로 넘어지나니 이는 저희를 이렇게 정하신 것이라 [9] 오직 너희는 택하신 족속이요 왕같은 제사장들이요 거룩한 나라요 그의 소유된 백성이니 이는 너희를 어두운 데서 불러내어 그의 기이한 빛에 들어가게 하신 자의 아름다운 덕을 선전하게 하려 하심이라 [10] 너희가 전에는 백성이 아니더니 이제는 하나님의 백성이요 전에는 긍휼을 얻지 못하였더니 이제는 긍휼을 얻은 자니라”

쇼핑몰이나 TV홈쇼핑은 우리 마음을 과학적으로 교묘하게 이용하여 지름신(충동적으로 구입한다는 뜻의 인터넷 용어인 ‘지르다’와 ‘신(神)’이 합쳐진 단어) 내리게 하는 굿판입니다. 남자는 이미지를 중시하기 때문에 큰 사진으로, 여성은 정보를 중요시하기 때문에 같은 공간에 이미지와 정보를 빽빽이 보여준답니다. 자막 색도 상품마다 다릅니다. 가전제품에는 첨단의 이미지를 주는 파랑이나 회색, 의류에는 따뜻한 느낌을 주는 분홍이나 빨강, 보석에는 고급스러운 느낌을 주는 금색이 주로 쓰입니다. 조명은 일반 방송의 조명보다 1.5배 밝게 하여 상품을 세밀하게 보여주고 화려한 느낌도 살립니다.

홈쇼핑의 가격표는 화면의 어느 쪽에 있지요? 주로 왼쪽 아래에 배치합니다. 왜냐하면 사람은 눈과 뇌의 구조상 시각정보가 들어올 때 그 상이 반대로 맺어지기 때문에 우측 상단에 놓으면 좌측 뇌에 즉각 걸리게 됩니다. 그래서 계산하는 좌측 뇌를 자극하지 않으려고 왼쪽 하단에 살그머니 놓습니다. 비싼 상품은 가장 먼저 ‘무이자’와 ‘할인쿠폰’ 등 정보가 뜹니다. 이는 큰돈 쓰기를 무서워하는 고객들의 마음을 꿰뚫어 보고, 그래서 좌측 뇌의 판단을 마비시키려고 , 무이자 10개월, 대박세일, 10분 한정 이라는 글자를 우측면에 부각시킵니다. 우리 마음을 교묘하게 이용하여 판단력을 마비시키고 새로운 정보를 주입하고, 강화시키고 구매하도록 -지름신이 내리도록 - 행동을 일으킵니다.

여러분! 남들은 물건하나 팔기위해서도 이렇게 사람의 마음을 연구하여 교묘히 활용하는데 여러분은 삶을 풍성하게 하기위하여 자신의 마음을 어떻게 개발하고 활용하고 있습니까? 자연자원을 개발, 가공 할 수 있는 것이 지적자원이고 이것을 잘 개발하여 활용하면 인류가 편리하고 풍요로운 삶을 살 수 있습니다. 이것을 잘한 것이 서양 사람들입니다. 오늘 그 결과로 편리하고 풍요로워졌습니다. 그런데 풍요로워 진만큼 자유롭고 행복해졌습니까? 이제는 자유롭고 행복해지기 위하여 다른 자원을 개발해야 합니다. 바로 마음자원입니다. 지적자원보다 더 중요한 자원이 마음자원입니다. 지적자원을 잘 운용할 수 있는 능력이 바로 마음입니다. 이 마음자원을 잘 개발, 활용하면 자신도 인류도 행복한 삶을 살게 됩니다.

이제 마음을 연구하고 개발하여 활용합시다. 사람의 마음에 있는 모략은 깊은 물 같으니라. 그래도 명철한 사람은 그것을 길어내느니라(잠20:5). 길어내어 사용해야 합니다. 이것이 마음개발입니다. 누가 길어냅니까? 명철하고, 지혜 있는 사람입니다. 여호와를 경외하는 자입니다. 여호와를 경외함이 곧 지혜요 악을 떠남이 명철이라(욥28:28). 여호와를 경외함이 지혜의 근본이라 그 계명을 지키는 자는 다 좋은 지각이 있나니 여호와를 찬송함이 영원히 있으리로다(시111:10). 옳습니다. 마음개발은 하나님과의 관계 속에서 바로 이루어집니다. 하나님 안에서 마음자원을 잘 개발, 활용하여 자신과 세상을 행복하게 만들기를 축원합니다.

마음자원개발을 신앙적 용어로 바꾸면 마음성전입니다. 예수께서 마음에 계신 것이 마음성전입니다. 마음에 성전을 건축하는 것이 마음개발입니다. 본문 4-5절에 “보배로운 산돌이신 예수께 나와 너희도 산돌같이 신령한 집으로 세워지라” 우리 마음이 하나님이 거하시는 성전으로 지어져야합니다. 산돌이신 예수께 나와야 합니다.

(그림1) 과거 우리 마음의 상태는 벽돌집이었습니다. 이 집의 머릿돌은 죄와 죄책입니다. 여기서부터 모든 문제가 발생합니다. 하나님으로부터 끊어져 영적으로 죽습니다. 사랑에서 끊어져 두려워합니다. 관계가 끊겨져 두려워 숨습니다, 사람이 죄를 지으면 자신을 자학하고 미워합니다. 그리고 의심합니다. 하나님의 사랑까지도 받아들일 수가 없습니다.
또 하나의 머릿돌은 “거절당하고 버림받은 두려움과 아픔입니다. 버림당한 경험의 벽돌이 생겼습니다. 굶주린 마음, 고아의 마음입니다. 사람들은 이 머릿돌 위에 실존 속에서 경험한 외로움, 불안, 공허감의 벽돌을 쌓습니다, 관계 속에서 상처를 입고 피해의식과 분노의 벽돌을 쌓습니다. 세상 어떤 조건으로 자신을 지켜보려고 성공, 돈, 권력, 명예벽돌을 마음에 쌓게 됩니다. 열등감이란 벽돌도 쌉니다. 때로는 자포자기의 벽돌을 쌓습니다. 이것은 부정적인 경험들로 형성된 마음 벽돌들입니다. 이것은 돌 같이 무척강해서 지식도, 말씀도 뚫고 들어갈 수 없습니다. 그리고 벽돌들의 밖에는 방어기제(Depence Mechanism)가 있고 내부에는 전이(Transferenc)라는 심리현상이 있어서 이 벽돌들을 통하여 들려오는 소리는 다 왜곡되고 뒤틀립니다.

하나님께서 우리의 굶주림을 아시고 풍성한 것으로 채워주시고자 하는데 우리가 열등감과 그리고 또 거부당하지나 안을까 하는 두려움의 벽돌 때문에 믿지 못하고 받아들이지 못하고 벽돌 뒤로 숨습니다. 그리고 내 생각으로는 하고 마음 문을 닫아버립니다. 문 밖에는 자존심을 걸어 놓습니다. 이 자존심은 얼굴에 가면을 씌어 놓습니다. 웃음이란 가면, 좋은 인상을 주려는 가면, 지위란 가면, 교양이란 가면, 성공자란 가면을 걸어놓습니다. 그러나 정작 자신의 마음은 외롭습니다. 괴롭고 두렵습니다. 불안합니다. 분노합니다. 회칠한 무덤입니다. 아직도 이 벽돌집에 살고 있지 않습니까? 문을 열고 산돌이신 예수께 나와야 합니다. 예수 안에서 하나님과 인격적으로 만나십시오. 여기에서 온전한 치료가 이루어집니다.

어떻게 하는 것이 벽돌집에서 문을 열고 나오는 것인가? 나사로가 죽은 후 4일 되던 날 예수님이 도착하셔서 무덤을 찾아가 나사로의 누이 마르다에게 말씀하셨습니다. 나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고 살아서 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 죽지 아니하리니 이것을 네가 믿느냐? 이에 마르다가 대답하였습니다. 주여 믿습니다. 주는 그리스도시요 하나님의 아들이신 줄 내가 믿나이다. “믿으면 무덤의 돌문을 열거라.” “주님! 죽은지가 나흘이나 되어 벌써 냄새가 나나이다.” “네가 믿고 돌문을 열면 하나님의 영광을 보리라.” 이 말씀 앞에 마르다는 결단합니다. 그리고 자신의 생각, 현재의 상황을 말씀 앞에 다 내려놓습니다. 그리고 예수님의 말씀을 믿고 무덤 문을 열어 놓습니다. 바로 이것입니다. 내 경험에서 형성된 생각과 지식, 현재 처해져 있는 상황 이것 다 내려놓고 예수님의 말씀을 더 신뢰하는 것이 마음 문을 여는 것입니다.

그리고 그 말씀을 받아들이는 것- 영접하는 것이 마음을 열고 벽돌집에서 나오는 것입니다. 이렇게 문을 열고 주님 앞에 나올 때 주님은 큰 소리로 외치십니다. 나사로야! 나오라! 이 말씀에 죽어서 썩어 냄새나는 나사로가 살아났습니다. 여러분 마음 문을 열고, 가면을 벗어 던지고, 문제를 가지고 예수님께 나오십시오. 너희는 여호와를 만날만한 때에 찾으라. 가까이 계실 때에 그를 부르라. 악인은 그 길을, 불의한 자는 그 생각을 버리고 여호와께 돌아오라 그리하면 그가 긍휼히 여기시리라(사55:6-7) 어두움과 귀신의 소굴이던 벽돌집에서 나와 마음에 성전을 건축하시기를 바랍니다.

마음에 성전이 무엇입니까? 예수 그리스도가 내 안에 계시는 것이 우리 마음의 성전입니다. 예수께서 어떻게 오십니까? 그분을 어떻게 만날 수 있습니까? 예수님이 우리에게 오시는 것은 말씀으로 오십니다. 요한복음 1장에 태초에 말씀이 계시니라. 이 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니 이 말씀은 곧 하나님이시라 그가 태초에 하나님과 함께 계셨고 만물이 그로 말미암아 지은바 되었으니 지은 것이 하나도 그가 없이 된 것이 없느니라(1-3) 말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 우리가 그 영광을 보니 독생자의 영광이요 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라(14). 말씀인 예수가 육신을 입고 오셨고 십자가에서 죽어 장사되었다가 3일 만에 부활하셨습니다. 그리고 하늘로 올라가 하나님과 함께 계십니다. 그리고 심판하러 다시 오십니다. 지금은 성령님께서 성경말씀을 입고 - 성경말씀을 통하여 우리를 찾아오십니다. 요한복음 14:18에 내가 고아와 같이 너희를 버려두지 아니하고 너희에게 오리라. 이 말씀으로 성령을 보내주셨습니다. 14: 26에 “보혜사 곧 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내실 성령 그가 너희에게 모든 것을 가르치시고 내가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 하리라.”고 말씀했고 오순절 날 성령을 보내셨습니다. 그 성령께서 오늘도 말씀으로 우리를 가르치시고 인도하십니다. 그러므로 말씀으로 오시는 하나님을 마음에 모시는 것이 마음에 성전을 짓는 것입니다. 보배로운 산돌이신 예수께 나와 산돌같이 신령한 집으로 세워지기를 축원합니다. 마음에 성전을 짓는 것이 예수 믿는 것입니다.

(그림 2) 이 신령한 집-성전의 머릿돌이 예수님입니다. 본문6-8절에 “보라 내가 택한 보배롭고 요긴한 모퉁이 돌을 시온에 두노니 저를 믿는 자는 부끄러움을 당치 아니하리라 하였으니 그러므로 너희에게는 보배이나”라는 말씀이 있습니다. 보배롭고 요긴한 모퉁이 돌은 바로 예수님입니다. 죄와 죄책이란 머릿돌대신 예수 십자가가 성전의 머릿돌입니다. 예수님의 십자가의 죽음과 부활이 바로 마음성전 두 기둥의 머릿돌입니다. 역대 상 7장에 보면 솔로몬 성전에 높이가 10m되는 놋 기둥 둘이 있었는데 야긴(그가 세우리라)과 보아스(그에게 능력이 있다)입니다. 영적으로 보면 보아스는 머릿돌인 십자가 위에 세워지는 성전기둥입니다. 십자가로 죄의 권세를 이기는 하나님의 능력입니다.
세상의 어떤 것도 죄의 심각성을 알려주지 않습니다. 그러나 십자자의 형벌을 통하여 이 죄의 심각성이 들어났습니다. 예수 십자가는 죄의 문제와 심각성을 들어내는 하나님의 능력입니다. 갈라디아서 3장 13절에 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 저주를 받은바 되사 율법의 저주에서 우리를 속량하셨으니 기록된바 나무에 달린 자마다 저주아래 있는 자라 하였음이라. 고 말씀합니다. 죄 값은 사망입니다. 무서운 심판과 저주를 받아 지옥에 가야만 합니다. 십자가는 저주받는 틀입니다. 죄 값으로 하나님께 저주 받은 것이 십자가입니다. 그런데 예수님께서 십자가에 달려 내 대신 저주를 받아 죽음당하셨습니다.
그가 찔림은 우리의 허물이요, 그가 상함은 우리의 죄악을 인함이라. 그가 징계를 밭음으로 우리가 평화를 누리고 그가 채찍에 맞음으로 우리가 나음을 입었도다. 우리는 다 양 같아서 그릇 행하여 각기 제 길로 같거늘 여호와께서 우리 무리의 죄악을 그에게 담당시키셨도다( 사53:5,6). 이처럼 예수님께서 십자가에 달려 내 대신 저주를 받아 죽임 당하신 겁니다. 그래서 우리가 용서를 받았습니다. 하나님과 화목케 되었고 평화를 누리게 되었습니다. 예수 십자가를 믿는 우리에게는 이제 무서운 심판도 영원한 저주도 다 넘어갔습니다. 유월절 전야에 천사들이 이집트에서 장자를 죽이는 심판을 할 때, 집 문에 양의 피가 칠해져 있으면 그 피를 보고 그 집은 그냥 넘어갔습니다. 이처럼 오늘도 예수님이 나를 위하여 십자가에서 죽으신 것을 믿고 그 피를 의지하여 하나님께 회개하고 나오면 예수님의 피로 우리를 씻어 용서하고 구원하여 주십니다. 어떤 죄든, 그 형벌이 아무리 무거워도 다 용서하십니다. 이것이 나와 여러분이 받은 십자가의 은혜요 구원의 은혜입니다. 이것이 하나님의 자비와 긍휼이요, 사랑입니다. 이것이 십자가를 통한 하나님의 분명한 약속입니다. 세상은 없어져도 이 하나님의 신실한 약속의 말씀은 변하지 않습니다. 십자가는 죄의 권세를 이기는 하나님의 능력입니다.
그런데 죄와 죄책으로 지어진 벽돌집 안에 있는 사람들이기 때문에 이 하나님의 약속을 받아들이질 못합니다. 마귀도 우리가 이 사실을 마음속 깊이 받아들이지 못하도록 우리를 정죄하고 흔들어댑니다. 믿음가운데 서십시오. 십자가 아래서 하나님께 진실하게 자신의 죄를 다 들어 내놓고 회개하십시오. 그리고 십자가 피로 씻어주셨음을 믿음으로 마음에 받아들이십시오. 예수 십자가의 은혜를 마음에 수용하는 것이 마음성전의 기초돌을 놓는 것입니다.

그런즉 이 일에 대하여 무슨 말을 하리요 만일 하나님이 우리를 위하시면 누가 우리를 대적하리요 자기 아들을 아끼지 아니하시고 우리 모든 사람을 위하여 내어주신 이가 어찌 그 아들과 함께 모든 것을 우리에게 은사로 주지 아니하시겠느뇨. 누가 능히 하나님이 택하신 자를 송사하리요 의롭다 하신 이는 하나님이시니 누가 정죄하리요 죽으실 뿐 아니라 다시 살아나신 이는 그리스도 예수시니 그는 하나님 우편에 계신자요 우리를 위하여 간구하시는 자시니라. 누가 우리를 그리스도의 사랑에서 끊으리요. 환난이나 곤고나 위험이나 칼이랴....다른 아무 피조물이라도 우리를 우리 주 예수 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 하나님의 사랑에서 끊을 수 없느니라(롬8:31-39). 마귀가 아무리 당신의 마음을 흔들어 대도 이제 이 십자가의 용서의 은혜를 의심치 말고 이 말씀을 굳게 믿으십시오. 성전 머릿돌을 굳게 세우십시오. 예수 십자가는 죄와 심판을 이기게 하는 하나님의 능력입니다.

이 십자가의 은혜를 받은 사람은 예수님과 함께 십자가에 자신을 못박아야 합니다. 십자가에서 자신을 끝장내야 합니다. 예수를 믿는 다는 뜻은 그리고 세례 받는 의미는 다 같은 거예요. 예수님과 연합하는 것입니다. 예수님이 십자가에서 돌아가실 때 거기서 나도 함께 죽은 것으로 믿고 그렇게 여기는 것이 십자가에 연합하는 것입니다. 그래서 로마서 6장 11절에 “이와 같이 너희도 죄에 대하여는 죽은 자요 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님을 대하여는 산자로 여길지어다.”라고 권면합니다. 워치만 니 목사님의 이야기입니다. 니 목사님이 이 말씀같이 죄에 대하여 죽은 자로 여기려고 애를 썼지만 자신의 죄가 여전히 살아있음을 발견하게 되니 괴로울 뿐이었습니다. 그러던 어느 날 아침 주여 나의 눈을 열어주옵소서 기도하고 이 말씀을 다시 읽을 때 “그리스도 예수 안에서”라는 말씀이 그를 사로잡았습니다. 그렇다! 내가 그리스도 안에 있으므로 예수께서 죽으실 때 나도 죽었다. 나는 죄에 대하여 그리스도 안에서 이미 죽은 것이다! 그는 벌떡 일어나 “주를 찬미하라 나는 죽은 자다!”고 외쳤다고 합니다. 내가 예수님과 함께 십자가에서 죽고 함께 무덤에 장사되었음을 믿음으로 받아들이십시오.
나는 십자가에서 끝장난 자다! 선포하십시오. 이것이 성전 한쪽 머릿돌을 굳게 세우는 것입니다. 그리고 예수님과 함께 새 생명, 하나님이 주시는 새 생명으로 살아가는 자라는 사실도 믿음으로 받아들이십시오. 바울사도는 “십자가로 인하여 세상은 나에 대하여 죽고 나는 세상에 대하여 죽었노라”고 선언합니다. 그리고 “내가 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박혔나니 그런즉 이제는 내가 산 것이 아니요 오직 내 안에 그리스도께서 사신 것이라. 이제 내가 육체 가운데 사는 것은 나를 사랑하사 나를 위하여 자기 몸을 버리신 하나님의 아들을 믿는 믿음 안에서 사는 것이라.”( 갈2:20 )고 고백합니다. 이것이 십자가의 은혜를 받은 사람의 고백이며 삶의 모습입니다. 이것이 성전 한쪽 머릿돌을 굳게 세우는 것입니다. 이것이 보배로운 산돌이신 예수께 나와 산돌같이 신령한 집으로 세워지는 것입니다. 이런 삶과 고백이 하나님 앞에 드려지기를 축원합니다.

197장(이나 202장) 찬송합시다.

아직도 해결하지 못한 죄가 남아있습니까? 아직도 끊어지지 않고 계속 반복되는 죄의 문제가 있습니까? 그 실체는 당신이 아닙니다. 당신 벽돌집 속에 있는 상처로 왜곡된 마음 때문입니다. 이 시간 하나님 앞에 다 드러내놓고 회개합시다. 회개는 이런 상황, 이런 상태에서 돌아서서 하나님께로 나아가는 것입니다. 회개하셨습니까? 그러면 하나님께서 당신을 이미 용서해주셨습니다! 당신을 이미 용서해주셨습니다! 하나님의 용서가 마음에 와 닿지 않습니까? 죄책에 묶여 마음에 자유함이 없습니까? 항상 갈등하며 괴롭습니까? 이것은 상처받아 벽돌집 속에 갇힌 왜곡된 당신 마음입니다. 당신생각입니다. 하나님의 사랑 십자가를 굳게 붙잡으십시오. 말씀을 의지하십시오. 마귀는 당신이 용서와 구원의 은혜를 받아들이지 못하도록 거짓된 정보를 줍니다. 이제 하나님의 말씀, 그 약속을 의지하여 문을 활짝 열고 나오십시오. 믿음으로 하나님의 사랑, 십자가의 용서를 받아들이십시오. 다같이 통성으로 기도하십시다.

만일 우리가 우리 죄를 자백하면 저는 미쁘고 의로우사 우리 모든 죄를 사하시며 모든 불의에서 우리를 깨끗케 하실 것이요.(요일1:9)
우리가 저주 받아 십자가에 달려 죽어야만 했는데 예수님께서 대신 죽으심으로 우리가 하나님 앞에 살게 되었음을 고백하며 감사드립니다. 이 놀라운 용서와 구원의 은혜를 영혼 깊이까지 굳게 믿어 마음에 성전을 짓게 하옵소서. 날마다 이 구원의 감격 속에 살아가게 하옵소서. 예수님 이름으로 기도하였습니다.

(1 Peter 2:4-10) “[4] As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him-- [5] you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. [6] For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame." [7] Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone," [8] and, "A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall." They stumble because they disobey the message--which is also what they were destined for. [9] But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. [10] Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

Internet shopping malls and TV home shopping are the places of performing an exorcism which tries to deceive our heart psychologically. They show images to men because men respond to images. And they show written information instead of images because women more easily respond to information. The colors which decorate the screen are different according to the products. For the electronical home appliances, they use blue or gray which gives cutting edge images. For clothes, they use pink or red which gives a warm feeling. For jewelry, they use a golden color which gives luxurious images. And they use 1.5 times brighter lighting than other general studios for more detailed images of the products.

Do you know where the price tag of the home shopping mall is on the screen? They usually put it at the bottom left side because images form in our brain in opposite ways. If we put the price tag on the upper right side, it will stimulate the left side of the brain. Therefore, they put the price tag on the bottom left side of the screen, because they try to not to stimulate the left side of the brain which functions for counting. If they sell expensive products, they show the sign, "No interest" and "Discount" first. Because they know the mind of the customers who are afraid of spending money, they try to paralyze the judgement of the left brain. Therefore, they show us the sign, "No interest for 10 months," "Big sale," and "10 minutes limit sale" etc on the upper right side of the screen. They try to deceive and paralyze our mind to purchase their products impulsively.

Brothers and sisters, people study the human mind eagerly to sell their products, but what do you do to develop your mind for better life? With intellectual resources we can develop and use natural resources for a convenient and abundant life. Western people do this very well. Because of it, their lives became more convenient and abundant. However, do you think that their lives became happier than before? For more freedom and happiness, we should develop other resources. It is our mind resources. It is more important than intellectual resources. Our mind has an ability to manage intellectual resources. Therefore, if we develop these mind resources, it will bring happiness not only for us, but also for all human beings.

Let's study and develop our mind. The Bible says, (Proverb 20:5) “Though good advice lies deep within a person`s heart, the wise will draw it out.”
We should develop and use our mind. This is the development of our mind. Who is going to draw it out? A clever and wise man will do this. Who is this man? He is the man who respects God. (Job 28:28) "The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding." (Psalm 111:10) “Reverence for the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom. The rewards of wisdom come to all who obey him. Praise his name forever!”
That is right. The right development of the human mind can be accomplished in the relationship with God. I bless that you may develop the mind resources in God and make yourself and the world more happy.

The development of the mind resources is a spiritual house in theological terms. Jesus is dwelling in the spiritual house. Building a spiritual house is mind development. In verses 4-5, it says, [4] As you come to him, the living Stone, you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood. Our mind should be built as a temple of God. We should accept Jesus, the living stone.

(Picture 1) Our mind was built by bricks. The cornerstone of this house is sin and guilt. Every problem starts from this point. Because we were cut off from God, we were dead spiritually. We are afraid because we are cut from the love of God. We are hiding because the relationship with God is cut. When people commit sins, they hate themselves. And they doubt. They cannot accept the love of God.
The other cornerstone is a refused mind which causes fear and pain in our heart. When we are abandoned, a new brick is made. This is a starving mind and an orphan's mind. People build bricks of loneliness, anxiety, and emptiness on this cornerstone. When they are hurt from relationships, they build the delusion of persecution and anger. They build bricks of success, money, power, and honer. And, bricks of inferiority and self-abandonment. These are made of negative experiences. Because these are as strong as stone, even knowledge or the Word of God cannot penetrate it. And outside of these bricks, there is a Defence Mechanism. And on the inside of the bricks, there is a psychological phenomenon called "Transference." Therefore, every voice which is heard through these bricks is twisted and distorted.

Even though God wants to fill our life with abundant gifts, we cannot accept it, but hide ourselves because of inferiority and fear of abandonment. And we close our heart because of a wrong attitude. We cover ourselves with pride. Pride is a mask. We have many kinds of masks such as laughter, good attitude, good looks, position, intellectuality, and success. However, our heart cannot be comforted by these things. We feel pain, fear, anxiety, and anger. Our heart is like whitewashed tombs. Do you still live in this kind of house? We must open our door and come out to Jesus, the living stone. Please be with God in Jesus. Then the true cure can happen at that very moment.

Then how can we get out from the brick house? After 4 days since Lazarus passed away, Jesus came to the tomb and said to Martha who is the sister of Lazarus. (John 11:25-26) “[25] Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die like everyone else, will live again. [26] They are given eternal life for believing in me and will never perish. Do you believe this, Martha?"”
Then Martha answered Jesus. "Yes, Lord," she told him. "I have always believed you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who has come into the world from God." "Roll the stone aside," Jesus said. But Martha, the dead man`s sister, said, "Lord, by now the smell will be terrible because he has been dead for four days." Jesus responded, "Didn`t I tell you that you will see God`s glory if you believe?" Martha made up her mind when she heard this Word of God. She put down all her thought and position before the Word of God. And she believed the Word of Jesus and opened the door of tomb. That is exactly what I want to tell you. We must put down all of our thoughts, knowledge, and positions which come from our own experiences. And we should trust the Word of Jesus and open our mind.

Accepting the Word of God is getting out from the brick house. When we open our heart and come to Jesus, He will shout loudly. "Lazarus, come out!" When Jesus said this Word, the dead Lazarus was resurrected. Brothers and sister, please open your heart, take off your masks, and bring your problems to Jesus. (Isaiah 55:6-7) “[6] Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. [7] Let the people turn from their wicked deeds. Let them banish from their minds the very thought of doing wrong! Let them turn to the LORD that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”
Please come out from the den of evil spirits and build a spiritual house for God.

What is the spiritual house? When Jesus is in our heart, it becomes the spiritual house. How can Jesus enter our heart? How can we meet Jesus? Jesus comes to us through the Word of God. (John 1:1-3) “[1] In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn`t make.” (John 1:14) “So the Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father.” The Word, Jesus, became flesh in this world. And He died on the cross. However, He was resurrected after three days. And, He ascended to heaven and was with God. He will come back to judge all the people. Now, the Holy Spirit is coming to us through the Word of God. (John 14:18) “No, I will not abandon you as orphans--I will come to you.” As Jesus promised, He sent us the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, (John 14:26) “But when the Father sends the Counselor as my representative--and by the Counselor I mean the Holy Spirit--he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I myself have told you.” On the Pentecost day, He sent the Holy Spirit to us. The Holy Spirit is still teaching and guiding us with the Word of God today. Therefore, if we accept God who is coming to us through the Word, it is building the temple of God in our mind. I hope that Jesus, the living stone, will build the temple in your hearts. Building a temple in your heart is believing Jesus.

(Picture 2) The cornerstone of this spiritual house- temple, is Jesus. In verses 6-8 of the passages today, it says, [6] For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame." [7] Now to you who believe, this stone is precious.
The chosen and precious cornerstone is Jesus. Instead of the cornerstone of sin and guilt, the cross of Jesus is the cornerstone of the sanctuary. The death and resurrection of Jesus on the cross is the cornerstone of the two columns of the mind's temple. In 1 Chronicles chapter 7, in Solomon's temple there were two brass pillars each 10m high, and they were called Jakin(He will raise) and Boaz(He has power). When we see spiritually, Boaz is the temple pillar raised upon the cross which is the cornerstone. It is the power of God which wins over the power of the sins through the cross.
Nothing in the world shows us of the seriousness of sin. However through the punishment of the cross, this seriousness was revealed. The cross of Jesus is the power of God which shows the seriousness and problems of sin. In Galatians 3:13 it says, (Galatians 3:13) “But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."
The price of sin is death. It receives frightening judgement and curses you and sends you to hell. The cross is the frame of the curse. Having received a curse from God as the price of sin, is the cross. However Jesus was put on the cross and received the curse instead of us and died.

(Isaiah 53:5-6) “[5] But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed! [6] All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God`s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the guilt and sins of us all.”
Like this Jesus hung from the cross and received the curse and died instead of me. And so we were forgiven. We were at harmony with God and were blessed with peace. To us who believe in Jesus's cross, the frightening judgement and the eternal curse has already passed by. On the evening before the passover when Egypt received the judgement of the killing of the first-born, if there was the blood of lamb on the doorposts, the angels saw and passed by. Like this even today, if we believe that Jesus died on the cross for us and rely on his blood and repent to God, He will wash us with Jesus's blood and forgive and save us. Whatever sin, however heavy, he will forgive us. This is the grace of the cross which you and I have received, the grace of salvation. This is the mercy and pity and love of God. This is the certain promise of God through the cross. Even if the world is gone, God's sincere word of promise never changes. The cross is the power of God which wins over the power of sin.
However because people are inside brick houses built of sin and guilt, they cannot receive this promise of God. The devil also accuses us of sin and shakes us to keep us from accepting this truth deeply. Stand in faith. Confess all your sins to God truthfully, under the cross. Accepting the grace of the cross of Jesus is setting the cornerstones of the spirit's temple.

(Romans 8:31-39)What can we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? [32] Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won`t God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else? [33] Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? Will God? No! He is the one who has given us right standing with himself. [34] Who then will condemn us? Will Christ Jesus? No, for he is the one who died for us and was raised to life for us and is sitting at the place of highest honor next to God, pleading for us. [35] Can anything ever separate us from Christ`s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death? [36] (Even the Scriptures say, "For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep." ) [37] No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. [38] And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can`t, and life can`t. The angels can`t, and the demons can`t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can`t keep God`s love away. [39] Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

No matter how the devil shakes your heart, believe in the forgiveness of the cross and have faith in this word. Raise your temple cornerstone firmly. The cross of Jesus is the power of God which overcomes sin and judgement.

Those who have received the grace of the cross must crucify themselves with Jesus upon the cross. They must finish themselves on the cross. Believing in Jesus and being baptized is the same thing. It is becoming united with Jesus. If you believe that you died with Jesus on the cross, it is being united with Jesus.
And so it says in Romans 6:11 “So you should consider yourselves dead to sin and able to live for the glory of God through Christ Jesus.”

This is the story of Pastor watchmannee.
Pastor watchmannee tried to think of himself as a person dead to sin, like in this passage, but as he found that his sins were still alive, it pained him. Then one morning, he prayed, "Lord, open my eyes" and read this passage again, and the words, "Through Jesus Christ" grasped him. Yes! Because I am in Christ, when Jesus died, I died also! I am already dead to sin inside Christ!
He got up and said, "Praise the Lord! I am dead!" Accept with faith that you have been crucified on the cross and buried with Jesus. Proclaim that you have been finished on the cross! This is setting your temple cornerstone firmly. And also accept with faith the fact that you are living a new life with Jesus, the new life that God gives you.
Apostle Paul proclaimed, “Because of the cross, the world is dead to me. And I am dead to the world.” And he confessed in Galatians 2:20, “I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me. So I live my life in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
This is the confession and the life of a person who has received the grace of the cross. This is setting the cornerstone of the temple firmly. This is coming forward to the precious "Living stone," Jesus, and being raised up as a house in spirit as a Living stone. I hope you will have this life and confession in front of God.

Let us sing Hymn number 197 (or 207).
Are there still sins that you have not solved yet? Is there a problem of a sin repeating? It is not your true self. It is because of the heart inside your brick house, twisted by wounds. At this time lay it in front of God and confess.
Repenting is turning from this situation, this state and returning back to God. Have you repented? Then God has already forgiven you! You have already been forgiven! Does the forgiveness of God not reach your heart? Do you have no freedom, being tied with your guilt? Do you always have conflict and pain? This is your heart in the brick house, twisted by wounds. It is just your thought.
Cling firmly to God's loving cross. Rely on the word. The devil gives you fake information so that you cannot receive the grace of forgiveness and salvation. Now rely on God's word and promise, and open your door and come out. Accept God's love and the forgiveness of the cross with faith.

(약 5:16) “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”

Let us pray aloud together.

(First John 1:9)“But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong.”
We were cursed and had to die upon the cross, but we confess and are thankful that because Jesus died for us, we are able to live in front of God. Let us believe this amazing forgiveness and grace of salvation to the depths of our soul and build a temple in our hearts. Let us live every day in the gratitude of this salvation. We pray in Jesus's name.
