China's foreign ministry said Friday that it will extend visa-free travel for Korean arrivals from the current 15 days to 30 days.

The new visa-exemption policy will be effective starting Nov. 30 and remain in place through the end of next year, the ministry said.
​
Under the updated visa-exemption policy, Korean travelers can visit China for up to 30 days without a visa for purposes such as business, tourism, family visits or cultural exchanges.
The policy, which had been suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, will newly apply to nine countries, including Japan.

The expanded visa-free entry period will be extended not only to the newly added nine countries but also to the 38 nations that were already eligible, including Korea. (Yonhap)

중국 정부가 한국인을 포함한 일부 국가 국민에 대해 시행 중인 무비자 입국 기간을 현행 15일에서 30일로 늘린다. 코로나19 유행으로 중단했던 일본인의 무비자 입국도 다시 허용한다.

린젠 중국 외교부 대변인은 22일 정례 브리핑에서 현재 비즈니스·관광·친지 방문 등으로 제한된 무비자 방문 목적에 ‘교류 방문’을 추가하고, 무비자로 중국에 체류할 수 있는 기간을 15일에서 30일로 늘린다고 밝혔다.

중국인과 외국인의 왕래 편의를 증진하기 위해 비자 면제 국가 범위도 확대한다. 중국은 이달 30일부터 내년 12월31일까지 불가리아·루마니아·크로아티아·몬테네그로·북마케도니아·몰타·에스토니아·라트비아·일본 등 총 9개국의 일반여권 소지자를 비자 면제 대상에 포함했다.

중국은 작년 12월 독일·프랑스·이탈리아 등 6국에 대해 무비자 정책을 시행한 이후 대상국을 지속적으로 확대했다. 지난 1일엔 한국이 처음으로 무비자 대상국에 포함됐다.
