Bible Reading - Proverbs 17: 11~19

17:11 An evil man is bent(굽어지다) only on rebellion(반역);

a merciless(무자비한) official(관원) will be sent against him.

악한 사람은 반역만을 일으킬 뿐이고, 무자비한 관리가 그에게로 파견될 것이다.

17:12 Better to meet a bear robbed(강탈당하다) of her cubs(새끼) than a fool in his folly(어리석음).

어리석은 짓을 하는 바보를 만나는 것보다 새끼를 빼앗긴 곰을 만나는 것이 낫다.

17:13 If a man pays back(되갚다) evil for good, 만일 어떤 사람이 선을 악으로 되갚는다면

evil will never leave his house. 악이 결코 그의 집을 떠나지 않을 것이다.

17:14 Starting a quarrel(다툼) is like breaching(파손,파괴) a dam; 

다툼을 시작하는 것은 댐을 터뜨리는 것과 같다.

so drop(떨어뜨리다) the matter before a dispute(분쟁) breaks out.(발발하다)

그러니 분쟁이 일어나기 전에 문제를 멈추세요.(그 문제를 떨어뜨리세요)

17:15 Acquitting the guilty(범죄자에게 무죄판결하는 것) and condemning the innocent(무죄한 자)--the LORD detests them both.

범죄자에게 무죄로 판결하는 것과 결백한 자를 정죄하는 것은 여호와께서 그 둘다 혐오하신다.

17:16 Of what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has no desire to get wisdom?

(직독 : 어리석은 자의 손에 돈이 무슨 소용이 있는가? 그가 지혜를 얻을 마음이 전혀 없기 때문에)

지혜를 얻으려는 마음이 전혀 없는 어리석은 자의 손에 돈이 들어 있다는 것이 무슨 소용이 있겠는가?

17:17 A friend loves at all times(언제나), 친구는 언제나 사랑하고

and a brother is born for adversity(역경, 불행). 형제는 역경을 위해 태어난다.

17:18 A man lacking in judgment strikes hands in pledge(손잡고 서약을 하다)

and puts up security(보증을 서다) for his neighbor.

판단력이 부족한 사람이 손잡고 서약을 하고 이웃을 위해 보증을 선다.

17:19 He who loves a quarrel loves sin; 다툼을 좋아하는 것은 죄를 좋아하는 것이요,

he who builds a high gate invites destruction. 높은 문을 만드는 자는 멸망을 초래한다.
