"this winter" is used when you are in the mist of the winter. Last winter or past winter is used to describe the year before or winter you've endured.

As far as country goes, our is used because it's a public domain. I am currently on Daum cafe which is ours, not my Daum.

My country is often used to describe the sense of ownership. Korea is my country(spoken often in a foreign country with mixed nationalities), not our country.
