I had to rehearse in front of him and other board members. He was intentionally looking for error on presentation document and made some comments.
Even if this document had been transmitted a few months ago, he didn’t review it in advance. He called a responsible that had made this document to correct it on the spot just before visitors arrived.
His thinking that I have to give presentation perfectly, it seemed to me very strange and unfair. Even if a chief of foreign trade’s team made a few mistakes at presentation’s time, there was nobody who criticized his error and pointed out his mistakes.
But for me ? He was too severe. Maybe only a few errors won’t be allowed.
And I think that I did well. If I don’t do well, even if I get praise by others, I’m distressed. Other managing director and participants told me “ you did a good job “.
In spite of his particular character and experiences( he lived in foreign countries for many years and his major is English literature and language !!!! ), I was not quite perplexed. I took his comments very positively. I didn’t take not of his fault-finding.
His surrounds didn’t enter presentation room owing to his fastidious character. Nobody wanted to listen to his remarks. Nobody liked him.
After a presentation, a responsible team had to correct again documents.
It’s a loss. According to opinion and style of director, presentation way and style had to be changed ? More over, document also ?
It took a 1 hour or so to give the presentation. But to wait for visitors, rehearse, correct document, I spent over half days. I couldn’t finish my work.
I know well the importance and the difficulty of protocole. When it goes well, everybody take it a matter of course.
If not, on the contrary, protocole team gets flaks.
Although I’m not a member of this team, I had to do a protocole with them.
Tomorrow, another Chinese VIPs will visit.
My colleague who can speak in Chinese trembled already for fear, because our president will attend at this presentation.
He has been nervous since he knew it. He couldn’t eat well and take a breath due to stress.
For example, when I guided visitors to a certain laboratory, the concerned team chief gave briefly a presentation. I could see that a cold perspiration stood in beads upon his forehead and neck.
