[강서연]

저는 제주에서 천안으로 올라와 기숙사 생활을 시작했습니다. 그곳에서 일본인 룸메이트를 만났습니다. 처음에는 서로 이해하지 못해서 매우 어색하고 조용했습니다. 어느 날, 저는 서툰 일본어와 번역기를 사용해 먼저 말을 걸기로 했습니다. 긴장했지만 시도해보고 싶었습니다. 완벽하지는 않았지만 대화를 시작하는 데 도움이 되었습니다. 그 후로 우리는 더 많이 이야기하며 가까워졌습니다. 지금은 서로 편하게 지내고 있습니다. 이 경험을 통해 우정에는 언어가 중요하지 않다는 것을 배웠습니다.

I moved from Jeju to Cheonan and started living in a dormitory. There, I met my Japanese roommate. At first, we could not understand each other, so it was very awkward and quiet. One day, I decided to talk to her first using simple Japanese and a translator. I was nervous, but I wanted to try. It was not perfect, but it helped us start talking. After that, we talked more and got closer. Now we are close and comfortable. Through this experience, I learned that language is not important for friendship.
