| Dr. Hwang received his Ph.D. in special education from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1991. Dr. Hwang had previously received his Master's degree in special education from the SUNY, College at Buffalo and holds Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from Myongji University in Korea. Prior to joining the faculty at LSU-Shreveport, Dr. Hwang taught at the SUNY, College at Buffalo while working with secondary students with various handicapping conditions in the Buffalo Public school system.
Dr. Hwang's research and teaching interests include: school reform policies, educational historiography, special education teacher education, and international special education. Professor Hwang has published over 50 articles in refereed journals and over 20 articles in conference proceedings since 1995. In December of 2000, Dr. Hwang made a series of T.V lectures in the Republic of Korea on effective parenting skills and school improvement issues. The special program was nationally televised for over 10 days and attracted millions of viewers in Korea. |
