祖父(조부)의 不顧家事(불고가사)는 내가 태어나면서 끝내시다.
논 밭의 農地(농지)를 購入(구입)하였고 집에 많이 居處(거처)를 하시며
孫子外 家族(손자외 가족)들과 함께 지내신 것이다.
초등학교 2학년 가을날 三父子(삼부자)가 함께 여행길에 오르니
내 起憶(기억)으로써 처음 열차를 타고 長距離(장거리)를 여행하게 되다.
기차가 가는 것이 아니고 전봇대가 휙휙 지나가고 집들이 지나가며
먼 산들은 서서히 지나가는 모습에 나는 처음으로 움직이는 기차의 신기함을 느끼다.
그때 나는 相對性(상대성)의 相關關係(상관관계)를 이해하게 되다.
지상에서 기차가 지나는 모습은 기차가 움직여 지나가는 것으로 보이지만
기차를 타고 있을 때에는 기차밖의 자연 모습이 지나가는 것처럼 보이게 된다는 사실이다.
아침 일찍 고향의 艮峙驛(간치역)에서 列車(열차)를 타고
先代 祖上(선대 조상)의 時祭行事(시제행사)에 가는 길이었다.
당시의 열차는 비현대적으로 의자도 딱딱했고 모든 조건이 洗鍊(세련)되지 못했다.
우리 집안이 落鄕(낙향)하기 전까지는
漢陽(한양)의 四大門(사대문) 안을 출입하는 고향으로 삼아 살고 있었다.
허니 先山(선산)이 漢陽(한양) 서울과 隣接(인접)한 高陽(고양)에 있다.
지금은 一山市(일산시)가 되었지만 前(전)에는 高陽郡(고양군)이었다.
祖父(조부)님 七兄弟 中(칠형제 중)에
5째 從祖父(종조부)가 安養(안양)에 자리잡고 살고 계셨기로 열차를 내린 곳이 안양역이다.
전날 열차는 蒸氣氣關車(증기기관차)로 速度(속도)가 느리고
緩行列車(완행열차)라 珠山(주산)에서 安養(안양)까지는
거의 終日(종일)의 時間(시간)이 所要(소요) 되었다.
鐵道(철도)의 長項線(장항선)만 해도 驛(역)이 많았다.
艮峙驛(간치역)에서 부터 雄川(웅천), 藍浦(남포), 大川(대천), 舟浦(주포), 淸所(청소),
眞竹(진죽), 光川(광천), 洪城(홍성), 禮山(예산), 道高(도고), 牙山(아산), 仙掌(선장),
揷橋(삽교), 天安(천안) 등 여러 역에 모두 停車(정차) 해야 했기 때문이다.
그 때에는 정기역 외에도 簡易驛(간이역)이 더 있었다.
安養 從祖父宅(안양 종조부댁)에서 一泊(일박)하면서는
나와 한 살 차인 堂叔(당숙)과 함께 지내다.
어려서 고향에서 살 적에 보았기 때문에 낯가림은 없었다.
그 당숙은 70에 작고하여 이별한지 수수년이 되었다.
안양에서 일박한 후 어둠이 걷히기도 전에 시내버스를 타고 서울을 거쳐
高陽 先山(고양선산)에 이르니 時祭(시제)가 시작되기 전의 아침이었고
조부께서는 선조들의 墓碑(묘비)를 모두 읽어보시는 모습이었는데
그 당시에 宗中(종중)에서 碑石(비석)들을 다시 세운 工事(공사)가 있었기 때문이다.
時祭(시제)는 密陽朴哥 糾正公派 後孫(밀양박가 규정공파 후손)인 先代 墓地(선대 묘지)로
내게 二十四代祖 上將軍(이십사대조 상장군)부터 차례로 내려오면서 봉행하였고
맨 아래의 墓祭(묘제)를 끝내자 조부께서는 끝 묘지위로 올라서시더니
시제 지내기 전에 먼저 둘러본 비석문에 대해서
條目條目(조목조목) 잘못된 점들을 들추어 내어 一喝(일갈)하시며 연설하시는 모습을 보게 되다.
靑山流水(청산유수)로 말씀 하시는 조부님 모습에 나는 驚駁(경악)하지 않을 수 없었다.
누구 한 사람 反駁(반박)하는 사람이 없었고 모두 肅然(숙연)한 現場(현장)이었다.
시제 후 飮福(음복)해야 할 시간이 한참 遲滯(지체)되었다.
參拜客 子孫(참배객 자손)들이 數百名 中(수백명 중)에 反問(반문)하는 이 없이 조용했던 기억이다.
한동안의 演說(연설)은 碑文(비문)의 誤脫字(오탈자) 및
글문의 잘못됨에 대해서 指摘(지적)하며 크게 호통을 치자
조부를 잘 아는 지인들 몇 분이 이제 그만하시면 되었다고 만류하시다.
이미 인식하고 있었지만 청산유수의 言辯術(언변술)에 크게 感服(감복)했던 일이 있다.
일정시대의 일로 서울 한강변에서 당대의 國家 先導 指導者(국가 선도 지도자)들이
국민과 서울시민을 모아놓고 國民啓導演說 行事(국민계도연설 행사)가 있었는데
당시에 조부는 20대 청년이었으며 유명인사들의 연설이 끝나고 행사를 끝내려 할 즈음에
청년 조부께서 잠깐만 기다리라 외치고 연단에 올라 즉흥적인 연설을 하였는데
場外 人事(장외 인사)로써 생각치도 못한 나이 어린 靑年(청년)의
思想(사상)깊은 强烈(강열)한 雄辯貌習(웅변모습)에
모였던 많은 국민들이 熱狂(열광)하였고
月南 李 商在先生(월남 이 상재선생)를 비롯한 당시의 指導者(지도자)들이
어디에서 온 누구냐고 물음에 충청도 보령에서 온 아무개라 하니
保寧(보령)에서 새사람이 나왔다며
稱讚(칭찬)과 함께 큰 期待(기대)를 하였다는 사연을 들은 일이 있기도 하다.

My grandfather's family affairs ended when I was born. He bought the farmland and lived in the house a lot, and he spent time with his grandchildren and other family members. On a fall day when I was in the second grade of elementary school, the three of us went on a trip together, and in my memory, I rode a train for the first time and traveled a long distance. The train didn't move, but rather, the telephone poles whizzed by, houses passed by, and distant mountains slowly passed by. I felt the wonder of a moving train for the first time.
