Chapter 20. Depart from Color and Feature
"Subhuti, what do you think? Can the Buddha be recognized out of a physical body perfectly constituted?" "No, World Honoured One. The Tathagata cannot be recognized from a physical body perfectly constituted. Why? what the Tathagata says ‘a physical body perfectly constituted’ is, is not a physical body perfectly constituted. It is just called a physical body perfectly constituted."
"Subhuti, what do you think? Can the Tathagata be recognized out of all the features[제상(諸相)] perfectly constituted?" "No, World Honoured One. It is impossible to see the Tathagata out of all the features perfectly constituted. Why, what the Tathagata said ‘all the features perfectly constituted’ are, are not all the features perfectly constituted. They are just called all the features perfectly constituted."
Chapter 20.
"Subhuti, what do you think, should one look for Buddha in his perfect physical body?"
"No, Perfectly Enlightened One, one should not look for Buddha in his perfect physical body. Why? The Buddha has said that the perfect physical body is not the perfect physical body. Therefore it is called the perfect physical body."
"Subhuti, what do you think, should one look for Buddha in all his perfect appearances?"
"No Most Honored One, one should not look for Buddha in all his perfect appearances. Why? The Buddha has said perfect appearances are not perfect appearances. Therefore they are called perfect appearances."

The Unreality of Phenomenal Distinctions
Subhuti, what do you think? Can the Buddha be perceived by His perfectly-formed body? No, World-honoured One, the Tathagata cannot be perceived by His perfectly-formed body, because the Tathagata teaches that a perfectly-formed body is not really such; it is merely called "a perfectly formed body". Subhuti, what do you think? Can the Tathagata be perceived by means of any phenomenal characteristic? No, World-honoured One, the Tathagata may not be perceived by any phenomenal characteristic, because the Tathagata teaches that phenomenal characteristics are not really such; they are merely termed "phenomenal characteristics".
Section 20: Leaving form, leaving appearance
“Subhūti, what do you think? Can the Tathāgata be seen by means of the perfected body of form?” “No, Bhagavān, the Tathāgata cannot be seen by means of the perfected body of form. Why? The perfected body of form that the Tathāgata speaks of is itself not a perfected body of form, and is thus called the perfected body of form.” “Subhūti, what do you think? Can the Tathāgata be seen by the perfection of all marks?” “No, Bhagavān, the Tathāgata cannot be seen by the perfection of all marks. Why? The perfection of marks that the Tathāgata speaks of is itself not a perfection, and is thus called the perfection of marks.”
