한인교회 선교의 사각지대     The Blind Spot of the Korean Foreign Mission

오늘 세계선교의 Frontline에 서있는 한 민족을 얘기한다면 그것은 두말 할것 없이 한국임에 틀림없습니다. 너무 감사한 일이며 하나님께 영광을 돌립니다.  그러나 우리는 만족해서는 안되고 가능한 한 더욱 더 구원의 멧세지가 지구촌 구석 구석 그리고 복음이 중성화 되 버리고 죽어가고 있는 영어권 세계를 다시 소생시키는 일은 선교의 사각지대Blind Spot가 되어왔습니다.  특히 미국이나 카나다는 우리에게 복음을 전해 준 나라요 기독교의 나라로 여기고 선교지 목록에서 제외된 나라들 입니다.  그런데 아이러니컬 하게도 북미주는 지난 몇 십년간 일년에 몇 천개씩 교회가 문을 닫는 쇠퇴기였습니다.  그냥 두면 이곳에 교회는 전멸상태로 돌입하게 될것입니다.  한인 이민 교회는 자기들 발등에 떨어진 불을 끄다보니 코앞에서 시들어 가고 죽어가는 교회 시체 냄새도 맡지 못하고 있습니다.    본인은 지난 40년간을 영어권 나라에서 사역을하며 보다 효율적인 선교를 꿈 꾸어 오던 중 근간에 이곳 Fredericton에서 가장 크고 유명한 Sunset Church의 초청을 받아 우리한인교회 찬양 팀과 함께 가서 멧세지를 전할 기회를 가졌습니다. 이땔쎄 하며 저는 목청을 높여 한국과 한국교회를 설교했습니다.  저들 Canada인들의 반응은 경이적 이었습니다. 저는 우리들의 선교의 새로운 Vision이 정립 되며 너무 감격했고 뿐만 아니라 이 분야는 모든 영어권 한인 이민의 Mission Field가 되야한다는 절박감을 안고 선교 동지들과 나누기를 원합니다.  함께 기도하며 초점을 맞출 수있기를 바라니다.

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  I am a Korean pastor in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.  It was the Western missionaries who reached out to Korean souls with the Gospel over a century ago.  Pastor William Mackenzie of Cape Breton went to Korea and planted one of the earliest churches there and contracted a regional disease and died in 1890s. Many from Maritimes followed in his steps.  Thank you, Canadian saints.  Now I am trying to figure out how I could repay Canada/USA the Gospel debt since I have settled here.  Recently I have been inspired and come up with “The Dawn Strategy of Korea.”  As has been well known to the world, Koreans meet every day for the worship and prayer, early morning prayer meeting that starts at 5:00 a.m. The church 365 is unique to Korea.  Big churches there have multiple early morning prayer meetings every day in addition to a few worship services on Lord’s day.  The blessings that have come with such dedication have been tremendous including the miraculously growing church and even economic prosperity and so forth.  When I was young around the Korean war, we were the poorest nation in the world.  Now 23,000 Korean missionaries are preaching the Gospel in 170 nations in the world and we are one of the ten richest nations in the world. God is working powerfully there.  I am sharing what God has done in response to our prayer.  Many are asking these days ‘what is the Korean secret?  I am sharing this around.  It is my prayer that God would do something great to North America so that all the dying churches would be resuscitated and experience the same blessings with the revival of church.  I am assured that it would sure happen in Canada if we obey His word.  God bless you all.
