Italian Poplar

Before me now
An Italian poplar stands tall

Its trunk rises smoothly
Its green leaves flutter and wave
Toward the jade-colored sky

The poplar trembles with delight
Shaking its shining leaves

As if they might take flight
Into the sky like little birds

Then, all at once
My armpits start to tickle

Will wings sprout there?
I, too, feel ready to soar
Into the jade-colored sky

시방 내 앞에

이태리포플러 한 그루 서 있다

밋밋하게 뻗어 올라간 줄기

옥빛 하늘로 하늘하늘 손짓하는 잎들

이태리포플러는 나뭇잎을 한창

신명 나게 흔들고 있다

나뭇잎이 새가 되어

금세라도 옥빛 하늘로 날아오를 것 같다

내 겨드랑이도 갑자기

근질근질하다

날개가 나오려나? 나도 옥빛 하늘로

나뭇잎과 비익조가 되어 훨훨 날아오를 것 같다
