독일 연방의회 예산위원회는 MEKO A-200 DEU 프로젝트에 대한 예비 계약 연장을 승인했으며, 이는 독일 해군의 대잠전 능력을 강화하기 위해 TKMS 호위함 4척을 도입하는 중요한 단계로 평가된다.
예비 계약 연장은 TKMS가 하청업체 및 공급업체와의 생산 능력 확보를 계속 유지하고, 최종 건조 계약 준비가 진행되는 동안 자재, 장비, 기계를 발주할 수 있도록 한다.
TKMS는 계약서의 공식 작성과 의회 심의를 위한 준비 등 필요한 중간 단계들이 적시에 진행될 것이라고 밝혔다.
TKMS와 독일 연방군 장비·정보기술·운용지원청(BAAINBw)은 1월 말 MEKO A-200 DEU 프로젝트에 대한 예비 계약을 체결했다.
이 예비 계약은 2029년 말까지 첫 번째 함정을 인도하고 주요 준비 조치를 시작하기 위한 목적을 갖고 있다.
MEKO A-200 호위함은 TKMS가 개발한 현대적인 다목적 해군 전투함이다. 선체는 낮은 레이더 반사 단면적 설계와 적외선, 음향, 자기 신호를 최소화하는 시스템 등 첨단 스텔스 기술을 적용해 적에게 탐지되기 어렵도록 설계됐다.
제원 측면에서 MEKO A-200은 전장 약 121미터, 최대 선폭 약 16.4미터이며, 설계 흘수는 약 4.4미터다. 만재 배수량은 약 3,950톤으로, 현대 해군 작전에 적합한 비교적 소형이면서도 성능이 뛰어난 호위함이다. 이러한 제원은 다양한 해양 환경에서의 항해 성능과 안정성을 뒷받침한다.
이 호위함은 각국 해군의 요구에 맞게 다양한 무장 체계, 센서, 전투 시스템을 탑재할 수 있다. 실제로 A-200 플랫폼은 남아프리카공화국형(A-200 SAN), 알제리형(A-200 AN), 이집트형(A-200 EN) 등 세 가지 주요 파생형이 존재한다.
이 호위함은 공중, 수상, 수중, 전자전을 포함한 전 영역 4차원 전투 능력을 수행할 수 있으며, 순찰과 차단 작전부터 특수부대 지원, 수색 및 구조, 인도적 지원 임무까지 다양한 작전을 수행할 수 있다.

The German Bundestag’s Budget Committee has approved extending the preliminary agreement for the MEKO A-200 DEU project, marking a key step toward procuring four TKMS frigates to enhance the German Navy’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities.

The extension of the preliminary agreement allows TKMS to continue reserving production capacity with subcontractors and suppliers and to order materials, equipment, and machinery while preparations for a final construction contract are underway.

The necessary intermediate steps, the formal drafting of the contract, and the preparation for parliamentary review are now to be carried out in a timely manner, TKMS noted.

TKMS and the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) signed a preliminary contract for the MEKO A-200 DEU project at the end of January.

The preliminary contract is intended to enable the delivery of the first ship by the end of 2029 and to initiate key preparatory measures.

The MEKO A-200 frigate is a modern multi-mission naval warship developed by TKMS. The hull incorporates advanced stealth technology such as a low-radar-cross-section hull form and systems to minimize infrared, acoustic, and magnetic signatures, making the vessel harder to detect by adversaries.

In terms of measurements and physical specifications, the MEKO A-200 has an overall length of about 121 meters and a maximum beam of roughly 16.4 meters. Its design draft is approximately 4.4 meters, contributing to a full-load displacement of around 3,950 tons, reflecting a relatively compact but capable frigate size for modern naval operations. These dimensions support good sea-keeping and stability across a variety of maritime environments.

The frigate can be outfitted with different weapon suites, sensors, and combat systems to meet specific navy requirements. In fact, three main variants of the A-200 platform are recognized — such as the A-200 SAN (South Africa), the A-200 AN (Algeria), and the A-200 EN (Egypt).

The frigates can deliver full-spectrum 4-dimensional warfare capabilities—air, surface, subsurface, and electronic warfare. These include a variety of mission profiles: from patrol and interdiction to special forces support, search and rescue, and humanitarian operations.

대잠호위함인 F123 4척을 대공능력까지 대폭 강화한 "1만 톤짜리" F126으로 대체하려다 늦어지니까, 과도기용으로 A200이 들어와버렸네요. F126이 들어오면 A200의 자리는... 경비활동 말고 전면전에선 무쓸모인 F125를 밀어낼지도 모르겠습니다.
