Vladimir Putin may be compelled to end the war as the country’s economy continues to suffer severely since the conflict began.
For over two years, Russia has grappled with sanctions imposed by Western nations, particularly targeting its oil and gas exports.
This significant revenue stream, which fuels much of the wartime economy, has been drastically reduced, and the Russian president acknowledged this week that the country’s economy has been deeply affected.
In addition to sanctions, Russia faces unprecedented national interest rates, with the central bank raising the rate to 21%.
According to the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War, Russia may soon struggle to finance the war effort.
The think tank said : "Russian resources are finite, and Putin cannot reckon with these costs indefinitely. Russia's economy will reach a burnout point. Russia's economy and war effort is coming under increasing strain."
This news comes as several Russian business leaders warn that numerous companies may be forced to close due to the economic situation.
