They're fitted gaiters but the size is adjustable via the 2"-wide Velcro? front opening. The uppers are Taslan GORE-TEX? and the tough Cordura? lower part is lined with the packcloth that most gaiters are made of! The strap-and-buckle top closure is very comfortable and is bomber secure when postholing. A double-riveted lace hook and a burly nylon-supported instep strap keep the gaiters firmly attached. I used the size chart and ordered a medium but they are a little too baggy. I am about 5 feet tall and the height was OK but cannot cinch them tight enough at top. I am going to try a small. No more baggy and too long gaiters! I still had a little extra width. However given the opportunity I'd might buy a small rather than medium. Gaiters need more specs not just SM and L! How about length and max and min circumference. I wore my new gaiters on a 60ish rainy day on the West Highland Way. Not only did they keep mud out of my shoes and off my pants but my legs didn't sweat buckets.</P></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></P>
