Bible Reading - Proverbs 20:1~10

20:1 Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler(싸움꾼, 말다툼하는 사람); 

whoever is led astray(길을 잃다) by them is not wise. 

와인은 조롱하는 것이요 맥주는 싸우는 것이니, 이것들에 미혹되는 자는 지혜롭지 못하니라.

is led astray by(~에 미혹되다)

20:2 A king's wrath is like the roar(포효) of a lion; 

왕의 진노는 사자의 포효와 같으며

he who angers him forfeits(몰수하다) his life.

그를 화나게 하는 자는 목숨을 잃는다.

20:3 It is to a man's honor to avoid strife(싸움), 다툼을 피하는 것은 사람의 명예이지만

but every fool is quick to quarrel. 어리석은 자는 다투는데 빠르다.

20:4 A sluggard does not plow(쟁기질하다) in season; 게으른 자는 제철에 쟁기질하지 아니한다.

 so at harvest time he looks but finds nothing.

그래서 수확기에 그는 둘러보지만 아무것도 찾지 못한다.

20:5 The purposes of a man's heart are deep waters, 사람의 마음의 목적은 깊은 물이지만

but a man of understanding draws them out. 명철한 사람은 그 물들을 길어낸다.

draw ~ out : ~을 끌어내다. 긷다.

20:6 Many a man claims to have unfailing love,

많은 사람들이 변함없는 사랑을 가지고 있다고 주장하지만,

but a faithful man who can find? 누가 신실한 사람을 찾을 수 있는가?

20:7 The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.

의로운 사람은 흠 없는 삶을 살며, 그 뒤를 따르는 자손들은 복을 받는다.

20:8 When a king sits on his throne to judge, 왕이 왕좌에 앉아 재판할 때,

he winnows out all evil with his eyes. 그는 눈으로 모든 악을 걸러낸다.

winnow out - 걸러내다.

20:9 Who can say, "I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin"?"

"나는 내 마음을 깨끗하게 지켰습니다. 나는 깨끗하고 죄가 없습니다"라고 말할 수 있는 사람이 누구인가?

20:10 Differing(다르다) weights and differing measures(잣대)--the LORD detests them both.

무게가 다르고 잣대도 다르니, 여호와께서는 이 둘을 다 싫어하신다.
