Celtics Sever Ties With Telfair

 

보스턴 셀틱스 구단은 총기소지로 구속된 세바스찬 텔페어를 팀에서 제외시키려고

하나 봅니다. 텔페어의 락커는 이미 그의 이름표가 떼어져 있는 상태라고 합니다.  

사촌인 뉴욕닉스 포인트 가드 스테판 마버리는 텔페어를 지원하기 위해 법원에도 

모습을 들어낸 모양입니다.

Just one week Sebastian Telfair was arrested on a gun possession charge, the Boston Celtics are severing ties with the guard after one season.

"I wanted to let you know that we have removed Sebastian's nameplate from his locker in Waltham. The facts and circumstances of his case have not been determined but he does not have a Celtics locker and we do not anticipate that he will," Celtics managing partner Wyc Grousbeck wrote in an e-mail to the Boston Globe on Tuesday.

Telfair's playing time became increasingly limited as Boston's disappointing 2006-2007 season went along.

Telfair's cousin, New York Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury, showed up to support him hours before he was arraigned, the Daily News reported on its Web site.

"The players on the Celtics have been explicitly warned, this year, to obey the team and league gun prohibition as well as state laws. We take this very seriously and will act accordingly once the facts have been determined," Grousbeck said Friday night. [READ]

Agent: "$120 Million Summer For Dwight"

드와잇 하워드가 월요일날 아팠다고 하는군요. 구토도 하고 컨디션이 꽝이었나 보네요.

Dwight Howard was sick on Monday and it clearly affected his play during Orlando's Game 2 loss in Detroit. Howard was vomiting late Monday afternoon and was given some medication by the team.

Howard's agent Aaron Goodwin said Howard soon will sign a $40 million deal with adidas and stands to make more than $80 million by signing a contract with the Magic this offseason. "It's a $120 million summer for Dwight," Goodwin said. [READ]

Colangelo Defends Red Promotion

Bryan Colangelo is not about to take red out of the Raptors' colour scheme.

In fact, the Raptors president/general manager does not regret his organization's decision to hand out red shirts to fans before a playoff game in which the opposing team decided to wear red uniforms.

Colangelo stood behind the "Let's Go Red, Let's Go Raptors" promotion, which seemed to backfire on Saturday when the New Jersey Nets pulled a little trick on Toronto by donning red uniforms in a 96-91 win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarter-finals at the Air Canada Centre.

"Our colour is red, I don't think the colour of the shirts being worn out there has any (impact) on the outcome," Colangelo said before Game 2 on Tuesday night. "What I saw was a crowd that was excited and energizing following their team's colours or mantra to paint it red so to speak." [READ]

Walter Herrmann, an Argentine with the Charlotte Bobcats , said Tuesday he won't compete in Olympic qualifying for his country for fear of injuries that could threaten his NBA career.

Herrmann's announcement came a day after San Antonio guard Manu Ginobili announced he wouldn't play for Argentina during qualifying. But Ginobili does plan to play when the national team defends its championship at the Beijing Games in 2008.

Herrmann told Argentine sports daily Ole he wasn't expressly barred by the Bobcats from playing, but he didn't want to run the risk of injury.

"It took a lot of effort to make the NBA, and I have to think in the future," Herrmann told Ole.

Fabricio Oberto, another Argentine playing for the Spurs, also bowed out of the qualifying season. [READ]

Young was projected by RealGM in their latest mock draft as being the 10th player selected.

Coach Paul Hewitt said Tuesday that Young submitted his name to learn more about his status from NBA personnel.

Colorado State forward Xavier Kilby was arrested after he was accused of pointing a gun at teammate Ronnie Aguilar's head, police said Monday.

The 21-year-old Kilby was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing and prohibited use of weapons, police spokeswoman Rita Davis said. No one was injured.

Police received a report about 2:54 a.m. Sunday of a weapon being discharged at Kilby's apartment, Davis said.

Davis said Kilby pulled out a small revolver after he and Aguilar argued in the living room, pointed the gun at Aguilar's head and then pointed the gun at a couch and discharged the weapon. Davis said teammate Stephan Gilling was in the living room, and two other people were in the apartment at the time, Davis said.

Davis said Aguilar left the apartment after the shooting and went home and called police. Officers arrived at Kilby's apartment and arrested him without incident, Davis said.

Coach Tim Miles issued a statement through the school saying Kilby would not be allowed at team activities until further notice. [READ]

The Rockets now lead the series 2-0, with games 3 and 4 to be played in Utah.

San Antonio guard Manu Ginobili will not play for Argentina during Olympic qualifying, but does plan to be part of the national team when it defends its championship at the Beijing Games in 2008.

Ginobili posted on his Web site Monday that the Spurs had requested he skip the Americas qualifying tournament in Las Vegas from Aug. 22-Sept. 2, and he hoped Argentine fans would understand his decision.

He said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich gave "rather understandable arguments." Ginobili, who is in the middle of a six-year deal with the Spurs, noted he's been playing nearly 10 years during NBA offseasons for Argentina, and needed a break.

"This [Olympic qualifier] did not allow me sufficient time to rest," the 29-year-old Ginobili wrote.

"I hope you understand my decision. This wasn't easy ... but I believe it's the right decision in the long run." [READ]

Source: Mitchell Will Be Named Coach Of The Year

Sources have confirmed Sam Mitchell will be named the NBA's coach of the year.

The National Post has learned that Mitchell has edged other strong contenders such as Utah's Jerry Sloan and Dallas's Avery Johnson.

"We had a lot of [new] guys, we had a language barrier at the beginning of the year, we had so many obstacles that we had to overcome," Toronto's lone All-Star, Chris Bosh, said Monday before the results of the vote were revealed.

"We had to gel quickly as a team. And for Sam to put us in an environment where we could function, and create an offence where everybody can touch the ball and share the ball and get open shots, that was tough on his part." [READ]
