예수를 아는 것

율법의 마침은 예수 그리스도입니다. 예수님의 십자가와 부활을 알지 못하는 의는 나침반 없는 배와 같습니다. 예수님은 율법의 완성이며 목표입니다. 십자가 희생은 율법의 모든 저주를 한 몸으로 받아 이루심입니다. 그의 부활은 죄와 죽음으로부터의 자유와 해방입니다. 그러므로 십자가와 부활을 아는 사람은 죄에서 자유하여 구원에 이르는 의를 소유합니다.

그 의는 믿음으로 확증된 의입니다. 나의 마음속의 믿음을 입으로 고백하여 의롭다함 받은 것입니다. 반면 율법의 의는 행함으로 이루어야하며 그것은 결코 도달할 수 없는 다람쥐 쳇바퀴식의 절제와 고행속에 머무르게 합니다. 시지프스*의 형벌처럼 끊임없는 일상의 반복이 저주가 됩니다.

유대인들은 예수님을 거절하고 부인함으로 율법의 영원한 저주의 굴레에 스스로 갇히는 고통을 초래했습니다. 자신들뿐 아니라 자손들마저도 그 저주속으로 밀어넣는 과오를 범합니다. 바울은 자신의 과거의 모습처럼 하나님에 대한 그릇된 열심이 어리석은 것임을 알고 동족들을 위해 탄식하며 간절히 원하고 기도합니다.

그러면 예수를 아는 것은 무엇일까요? 하늘 끝이나 땅속 깊은 곳 비밀한 장소에 있는 것이 아니라 심히 가까운 곳에 있습니다. 우리의 마음과 입술에 있습니다. 사도들의 전한 복음을 마음으로 믿고 겸손히 순종하여 입술로 시인하고 고백하는 자에게 주시는 소중한 구원의 복을 받았습니다. 그리고 우리도 차별없이 부르시는 그의 은혜를 따라 주의 이름을 부르는 구원의 자녀가 되었습니다. 이 소중한 구원을 소홀히 여기지 않고 날마다 감사와 찬양의 제사를 올려드리는 성도님들 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

**Knowing Jesus**

The end of the Law is Jesus Christ. Righteousness that does not know the cross and resurrection of Jesus is like a ship without a compass. Jesus is the fulfillment and goal of the Law. His sacrifice on the cross absorbed every curse of the Law into His own body. His resurrection is our freedom and liberation from sin and death. Therefore, those who know the cross and resurrection possess the righteousness that leads to salvation.

This righteousness is confirmed by faith. It is received by believing in the heart and confessing with the mouth. In contrast, the righteousness of the Law must be achieved through deeds—a never-ending cycle of discipline and asceticism, like a squirrel running in a wheel. It becomes a curse, like the punishment of Sisyphus: an endless repetition of daily effort without hope or end.

The Jews, by rejecting and denying Jesus, have trapped themselves under the eternal curse of the Law. Tragically, they not only suffer themselves but also push their descendants into the same bondage. Paul, reflecting on his own past, recognized that his zeal for God had been misguided. He grieved deeply for his people and prayed earnestly for their salvation.

So what does it mean to know Jesus? It is not hidden at the ends of the heavens or buried deep in the earth. It is very near—within our hearts and on our lips. Those who humbly believe the gospel preached by the apostles and confess it with their mouths receive the precious blessing of salvation. We too, by His grace, have become children of salvation who call upon the name of the Lord without distinction.
